몰말 1:1	그리고 이제 나 몰몬은 이제까지 내가 만들어 오던 기록을 나의 아들 모로나이의 손에 넘기려 하매, 보라 나는 내 백성 니파이인들이 거의 다 멸망하였음을 목격하였노라.	And now I, Mormon, being about to deliver up the record which I have been making into the hands of my son Moroni, behold I have witnessed almost all the destruction of my people, the Nephites.
몰말 1:2	또 내가 이 기록들을 내 아들의 손에 넘기는 것은 그리스도께서 오신지 수백 년 후이니, 내 생각에 그는 내 백성의 완전한 멸망을 목격하리로다. 그러나 하나님께서 그로 그들 뒤에 살아남게 하사, 그들에 관하여 얼마간 기록하게 하시고, 또 그리스도에 관하여 얼마간 기록하게 하사, 혹 언젠가 그 기록이 그들에게 유익한 것이 되게 하시기를 바라노라.	And it is many hundred years after the coming of Christ that I deliver these records into the hands of my son; and it supposeth me that he will witness the entire destruction of my people. But may God grant that he may survive them, that he may write somewhat concerning them, and somewhat concerning Christ, that perhaps some day it may profit them.
몰말 1:3	그리고 이제 나는 내가 기록한 바에 관하여 얼마간 말하노니, 아맬레카이가 언급한 이 베냐민 왕의 치세에 이르기까지의 요약을 내가 니파이의 판으로부터 만들고 나서, 나는 내 손에 넘겨진 기록들을 살피다가, 야곱으로부터 이 베냐민 왕의 치세에 이르는 선지자들의 이 작은 기사가 실려 있고, 니파이의 말이 또한 많이 실려 있는 이 판을 발견하였느니라.	And now, I speak somewhat concerning that which I have written; for after I had made an abridgment from the plates of Nephi, down to the reign of this king Benjamin, of whom Amaleki spake, I searched among the records which had been delivered into my hands, and I found these plates, which contained this small account of the prophets, from Jacob down to the reign of this king Benjamin, and also many of the words of Nephi.

몰말 1:5	그런즉 나는 이러한 것들을 택하여 그 위에 나의 기록을 완성하고자 하되, 내 기록의 나머지는 니파이의 판에서 취하리라. 그러나 나는 내 백성에 대한 일을 백분의 일도 기록할 수 없도다.	Wherefore, I chose these things, to finish my record upon them, which remainder of my record I shall take from the plates of Nephi; and I cannot write the hundredth part of the things of my people.
몰말 1:6	그러나 보라, 나는 이 예언과 계시들이 실려 있는 이 판을 취하여, 이를 내 기록의 나머지와 함께 두리니, 이는 그것이 내게 소중한 것임이요, 또 그것이 나의 형제들에게 소중한 것이 될 줄을 내가 앎이라.	But behold, I shall take these plates, which contain these prophesyings and revelations, and put them with the remainder of my record, for they are choice unto me; and I know they will be choice unto my brethren.
몰말 1:7	또 내가 이렇게 하는 것은 한 현명한 목적을 위함이니, 이는 내 안에 있는 주의 영의 역사하심을 따라, 이같이 내게 속삭이는 바가 있음이라. 이제 나는 만사를 다 알지 못하나, 주께서는 장차 이를 일을 모두 아시나니, 그런즉 그는 그의 뜻대로 행하시고자 내 안에서 역사하시는도다.	And I do this for a wise purpose; for thus it whispereth me, according to the workings of the Spirit of the Lord which is in me. And now, I do not know all things; but the Lord knoweth all things which are to come; wherefore, he worketh in me to do according to his will.
몰말 1:8	그리고 하나님께 드리는 나의 기도는 나의 형제들에 관한 것이니, 그들이 다시 한 번 하나님에 대한 지식, 곧 그리스도의 구속을 알기에 이르러 그들이 다시 한 번 기뻐하심을 입는 백성이 되게 해 주십사 하는 것이니라.	And my prayer to God is concerning my brethren, that they may once again come to the knowledge of God, yea, the redemption of Christ; that they may once again be a delightsome people.
몰말 1:9	그러면 이제 나 몰몬은 계속하여 니파이의 판에서 취하는 바 내 기록을 끝까지 완성하고자 하노니, 나는 하나님께서 내게 주신 지식과 총명을 좇아 이를 만드노라.	And now I, Mormon, proceed to finish out my record, which I take from the plates of Nephi; and I make it according to the knowledge and the understanding which God has given me.
몰말 1:10	그리하여 이렇게 되었나니 아맬레카이가 이 판을 베냐민 왕의 손에 넘겨 준 후, 그는 이를 취하여 이를 베냐민 왕의 시대에 이르기까지 대대로 열왕에 의해 전해져 내려온 기록이 실려 있는 다른 판과 함께 두었더라.	Wherefore, it came to pass that after Amaleki had delivered up these plates into the hands of king Benjamin, he took them and put them with the other plates, which contained records which had been handed down by the kings, from generation to generation until the days of king Benjamin.
몰말 1:11	그리고 이것이 베냐민 왕으로부터 대대로 전해져 내려와 나의 수중에 들어왔나니, 나 몰몬은 이때로부터 이후로 이 판들이 보전되기를 하나님께 간구하노라. 또 나는 이 판들이 보전될 줄을 아노니, 이는 그 위에 위대한 일들이 기록되어 있음이라. 이로 말미암아 기록된 하나님의 말씀에 따라 나의 백성과 그들의 형제들이 큰 마지막 날에 심판을 받으리로다.	And they were handed down from king Benjamin, from generation to generation until they have fallen into my hands. And I, Mormon, pray to God that they may be preserved from this time henceforth. And I know that they will be preserved; for there are great things written upon them, out of which my people and their brethren shall be judged at the great and last day, according to the word of God which is written.
몰말 1:12	그리고 이제 이 베냐민 왕에 관하여 - 그의 때에 그의 백성들 가운데 다소 다툼이 있었느니라.	And now, concerning this king Benjamin-he had somewhat of contentions among his own people.
몰말 1:13	또한 이렇게 되었나니 레이맨인들의 군대가 그의 백성을 대적하여 싸우려고 니파이 땅에서 내려왔더라. 그러나 보라, 베냐민 왕이 그의 군대를 함께 모으고, 그들에 맞서 라반의 검을 들고 그 자신의 팔의 힘으로 싸웠더라.	And it came to pass also that the armies of the Lamanites came down out of the land of Nephi, to battle against his people. But behold, king Benjamin gathered together his armies, and he did stand against them; and he did fight with the strength of his own arm, with the sword of Laban.
몰말 1:14	또 주의 힘을 의지하여 그들이 그 대적과 싸워 이윽고 레이맨인 수 천을 도륙하였으며, 또 이렇게 되었나니 그들이 레이맨인들과 싸워서 이윽고 그들의 기업의 모든 땅에서 레이맨인들을 몰아내었더라.	And in the strength of the Lord they did contend against their enemies, until they had slain many thousands of the Lamanites. And it came to pass that they did contend against the Lamanites until they had driven them out of all the lands of their inheritance.
몰말 1:15	또 이렇게 되었나니 거짓 그리스도들이 있었으나, 그들의 입이 닫혀지고 그들이 자기의 범죄에 따라 처벌을 받은 후,	And it came to pass that after there had been false Christs, and their mouths had been shut, and they punished according to their crimes;
몰말 1:16	그리고 백성 가운데 거짓 선지자들과 거짓 설교자들과 교사들이 있었으나, 이들 모두가 자기의 범죄에 따라 처벌을 받은 후, 그리고 많은 다툼이 있고 많은 자들이 이반하여 레이맨인들에게로 가는 일이 있은 후, 보라 이렇게 되었나니 베냐민 왕은 그의 백성 가운데 있는 거룩한 선지자들의 도움을 얻어 -	And after there had been false prophets, and false preachers and teachers among the people, and all these having been punished according to their crimes; and after there having been much contention and many dissensions away unto the Lamanites, behold, it came to pass that king Benjamin, with the assistance of the holy prophets who were among his people-
몰말 1:17	이는 보라, 베냐민 왕은 거룩한 사람이라, 그가 의 가운데 자기 백성을 다스렸고, 또 그 땅에 거룩한 자들이 많이 있어 그들이 권능과 권세로 하나님의 말씀을 고하였으며, 백성들의 목이 뻣뻣함으로 인하여 그들이 날카로움을 많이 사용하였음이라 -	For behold, king Benjamin was a holy man, and he did reign over his people in righteousness; and there were many holy men in the land, and they did speak the word of God with power and with authority; and they did use much sharpness because of the stiffneckedness of the people-
몰말 1:18	그리하여 이들의 도움과 함께 베냐민 왕은 그의 육신의 모든 힘과 그의 온 영혼의 능력을 다해 일하고, 또한 선지자들과 함께 일함으로써 한 번 더 그 땅에 평화를 이루었더라.	Wherefore, with the help of these, king Benjamin, by laboring with all the might of his body and the faculty of his whole soul, and also the prophets, did once more establish peace in the land.
