| 3니 1:4 | 그리고 이렇게 되었나니 제구십이년 초에, 보라, 선지자들의 예언이 더욱 온전히 성취되기 시작하였으니, 이는 백성 가운데 더 큰 표적과 더 큰 기적이 이루어지기 시작하였음이라. | And it came to pass that in the commencement of the ninety and second year, behold, the prophecies of the prophets began to be fulfilled more fully; for there began to be greater signs and greater miracles wrought among the people. |
| 3니 1:5 | 그러나 레이맨인 사무엘이 했던 말이 이루어질 때가 지났다고 말하기 시작한 이들이 더러 있더라. | But there were some who began to say that the time was past for the words to be fulfilled, which were spoken by Samuel, the Lamanite. |
| 3니 1:6 | 이에 그들이 그 형제들을 향하여 기뻐하기 시작하여 이르되, 보라, 그때는 지났고 사무엘의 말은 이루어지지 아니하였으니, 그러므로 이 일에 관한 너희의 기쁨과 너희의 신앙은 헛되었느니라 하더라. | And they began to rejoice over their brethren, saying: Behold the time is past, and the words of Samuel are not fulfilled; therefore, your joy and your faith concerning this thing hath been vain. |
| 3니 1:7 | 또 이렇게 되었나니 그들이 온 땅에 큰 소동을 일으키는지라, 믿는 백성들은 혹시라도 그 말하여졌던 일들이 이루지 아니할까 하여 매우 근심하기 시작하더라. | And it came to pass that they did make a great uproar throughout the land; and the people who believed began to be very sorrowful, lest by any means those things which had been spoken might not come to pass. |
| 3니 1:8 | 그러나 보라, 그들은 그 낮과 그 밤과 마치 밤이 없어 하루 같아야 할 그 낮을 굳건하게 살폈으니, 그리하여 그들은 그들의 신앙이 헛되지 아니하였음을 알고자 하였더라. | But behold, they did watch steadfastly for that day and that night and that day which should be as one day as if there were no night, that they might know that their faith had not been vain. |
| 3니 1:9 | 이제 이렇게 되었나니 믿지 아니하는 자들이 한 날을 구별하여, 선지자 사무엘이 준 표적이 이루지 아니할진대 그 전통을 믿는 모든 자를 다 죽이기로 하였더라. | Now it came to pass that there was a day set apart by the unbelievers, that all those who believed in those traditions should be put to death except the sign should come to pass, which had been given by Samuel the prophet. |
| 3니 1:10 | 이제 이렇게 되었나니 니파이의 아들 니파이가 자기 백성의 이 간악함을 보고 그 마음이 심히 슬펐던지라. | Now it came to pass that when Nephi, the son of Nephi, saw this wickedness of his people, his heart was exceedingly sorrowful. |
| 3니 1:11 | 이에 이렇게 되었나니 그가 나가서 땅에 엎드려, 자기 백성, 곧 그 조상들의 전통을 믿음으로 인하여 바야흐로 멸망당하게 된 자들을 위하여 하나님께 간절히 부르짖었더라. | And it came to pass that he went out and bowed himself down upon the earth, and cried mightily to his God in behalf of his people, yea, those who were about to be destroyed because of their faith in the tradition of their fathers. |
| 3니 1:12 | 그리고 이렇게 되었나니 그가 그 날 종일토록 주께 간절히 부르짖으매, 보라, 주의 음성이 그에게 임하여 이르시되, | And it came to pass that he cried mightily unto the Lord all that day; and behold, the voice of the Lord came unto him, saying: |
| 3니 1:13 | 네 머리를 들고 기뻐하라, 보라, 때가 가까이 왔으니 이 밤에 표적이 주어질 것이요, 내일은 내가 세상에 와서 내가 나의 거룩한 선지자들의 입으로 말하게 한 모든 것을 이룰 것임을 세상에 보일 것임이니라. | Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets. |
| 3니 1:14 | 보라, 내가 나의 백성에게 옴은, 세상의 기초가 놓이던 때로부터 내가 사람의 자녀들에게 알게 한 모든 것을 이루며, 아버지의 뜻과 아들의 뜻을 아울러 행하기 위함이니 - 아버지의 뜻이라 함은 나로 인함이요, 아들의 뜻이라 함은 나의 육신으로 인함이라. 이에 보라 때가 가까웠은즉, 이 밤에 표적이 주어지리라 하시니라. | Behold, I come unto my own, to fulfil all things which I have made known unto the children of men from the foundation of the world, and to do the will, both of the Father and of the Son-of the Father because of me, and of the Son because of my flesh. And behold, the time is at hand, and this night shall the sign be given. |
| 3니 1:15 | 그리고 이렇게 되었나니 니파이에게 임한 말씀이 그 말씀하신 대로 이루어졌으니, 이는 보라 해가 져도 어둡지 아니함이라, 이에 백성들은 밤이 되어도 어둡지 아니하므로 놀라기 시작하더라. | And it came to pass that the words which came unto Nephi were fulfilled, according as they had been spoken; for behold, at the going down of the sun there was no darkness; and the people began to be astonished because there was no darkness when the night came. |
| 3니 1:16 | 또 선지자들의 말을 믿지 아니하였던 자들이 많이 땅에 쓰러져 마치 죽은 자같이 되었으니, 이는 주어졌던 표적이 이미 이르렀으므로 선지자들의 말을 믿는 자들을 위하여 그들이 세운 큰 멸망의 계획이 좌절되었음을 그들이 알았음이더라. | And there were many, who had not believed the words of the prophets, who fell to the earth and became as if they were dead, for they knew that the great plan of destruction which they had laid for those who believed in the words of the prophets had been frustrated; for the sign which had been given was already at hand. |
| 3니 1:17 | 또 그들은 하나님의 아들이 반드시 속히 나타나시리라는 것을 알기 시작하였나니, 참으로 요컨대 북쪽 땅에나 남쪽 땅에나 서에서부터 동에 이르기까지의 온 땅에 있는 모든 백성이 심히 크게 놀라 땅에 엎드러졌더라. | And they began to know that the Son of God must shortly appear; yea, in fine, all the people upon the face of the whole earth from the west to the east, both in the land north and in the land south, were so exceedingly astonished that they fell to the earth. |
| 3니 1:18 | 이는 선지자들이 이러한 일에 대하여 여러 해 동안 증거한 것과 주어졌던 표적이 이미 이른 것을 그들이 알았음이라. 이에 그들은 자기의 죄악과 자기의 믿지 않음으로 인하여 두려워하기 시작하였더라. | For they knew that the prophets had testified of these things for many years, and that the sign which had been given was already at hand; and they began to fear because of their iniquity and their unbelief. |
| 3니 1:19 | 또 이렇게 되었나니 그 날 밤이 새도록 어둠이 없었고, 오히려 마치 한낮인 것같이 밝았더라. 또 이렇게 되었나니 순리대로 다시 아침에 해가 돋으매, 주어졌던 표적으로 인하여 그들은 그 날이 주가 나시는 날인 줄 알았더라. | And it came to pass that there was no darkness in all that night, but it was as light as though it was mid-day. And it came to pass that the sun did rise in the morning again, according to its proper order; and they knew that it was the day that the Lord should be born, because of the sign which had been given. |
| 3니 1:20 | 또 참으로 만사가 선지자들의 말대로 조금도 어김없이 다 이루어지더라. | And it had come to pass, yea, all things, every whit, according to the words of the prophets. |
| 3니 1:21 | 또한 이렇게 되었나니 말씀대로 새 별이 나타났더라. | And it came to pass also that a new star did appear, according to the word. |
| 3니 1:22 | 또 이렇게 되었나니 이때로부터 사탄은 백성 가운데 거짓말을 퍼뜨리기 시작하여 그들의 마음을 완악하게 하여, 그들로 그 본 표적과 기사를 믿지 않게 하려 하였으나, 이러한 거짓말과 속임에도 불구하고 백성의 대부분이 믿고 주께로 돌이켰더라. | And it came to pass that from this time forth there began to be lyings sent forth among the people, by Satan, to harden their hearts, to the intent that they might not believe in those signs and wonders which they had seen; but notwithstanding these lyings and deceivings the more part of the people did believe, and were converted unto the Lord. |
| 3니 1:23 | 또 이렇게 되었나니 니파이와 또한 다른 여러 사람이 백성 가운데 나아가 회개에 이르는 침례를 베풀매, 이에 큰 죄 사함이 있었느니라. 이리하여 백성들은 다시 그 땅에서 평화를 누리기 시작하였더라. | And it came to pass that Nephi went forth among the people, and also many others, baptizing unto repentance, in the which there was a great remission of sins. And thus the people began again to have peace in the land. |
| 3니 1:24 | 그리고 다툼이 있지 아니하였으니, 다만 몇몇이 가르침을 베풀기 시작하여 더 이상 모세의 율법을 지킬 필요가 없다는 것을 경전으로 증명하려 한 일 뿐이었더라. 이제 이 일에 그들이 잘못하였으니, 경전을 깨닫지 못하였음이라. | And there were no contentions, save it were a few that began to preach, endeavoring to prove by the scriptures that it was no more expedient to observe the law of Moses. Now in this thing they did err, having not understood the scriptures. |
| 3니 1:25 | 그러나 이렇게 되었나니 그들이 곧 돌이키게 되어 그들이 범한 잘못을 깨달았으니, 이는 율법이 아직 이루어지지 아니한 것과 또 율법이 온전히 이루어져야 한다는 것이 그들에게 알려졌음이라. 참으로 율법이 반드시 이루어져야만 하며, 참으로 율법이 다 이루기까지 일점일획이라도 없어지지 아니하리라는 말씀이 그들에게 임하였나니, 그리하여 이 같은 해에 그들이 그들의 잘못을 깨닫게 되어 그들의 과오를 고백하였더라. | But it came to pass that they soon became converted, and were convinced of the error which they were in, for it was made known unto them that the law was not yet fulfilled, and that it must be fulfilled in every whit; yea, the word came unto them that it must be fulfilled; yea, that one jot or tittle should not pass away till it should all be fulfilled; therefore in this same year were they brought to a knowledge of their error and did confess their faults. |
| 3니 1:26 | 이에 이같이 모든 거룩한 선지자들의 예언의 말씀대로 이루어진 표적으로 말미암아 백성들에게 기쁜 소식이 전해지는 중에 제구십이년이 지나 가니라. | And thus the ninety and second year did pass away, bringing glad tidings unto the people because of the signs which did come to pass, according to the words of the prophecy of all the holy prophets. |
| 3니 1:27 | 또 이렇게 되었나니 제구십삼년도 평화로운 가운데 지나갔으되, 다만 산에 거하며 그 땅에 출몰하던 개다이앤톤 도적들로 인한 문제가 있었나니, 이는 그들의 요새와 그들의 은거지가 심히 견고하여 백성들이 그들을 토벌할 수 없었음이라. 그러므로 그들이 많은 살인을 범하며 백성 가운데 많은 살육을 행하였더라. | And it came to pass that the ninety and third year did also pass away in peace, save it were for the Gadianton robbers, who dwelt upon the mountains, who did infest the land; for so strong were their holds and their secret places that the people could not overpower them; therefore they did commit many murders, and did do much slaughter among the people. |
| 3니 1:28 | 또 이렇게 되었나니 제구십사년에 그들이 크게 증가하기 시작하였으니, 이는 그들에게로 도망하는 니파이인 이반자들이 많이 있었음이라. 이 일은 그 땅에 남은 니파이인들에게 많은 슬픔을 초래하였더라. | And it came to pass that in the ninety and fourth year they began to increase in a great degree, because there were many dissenters of the Nephites who did flee unto them, which did cause much sorrow unto those Nephites who did remain in the land. |
| 3니 1:29 | 또 레이맨인들 중에서도 많은 슬픔을 초래하는 일이 있었으니, 이는 보라, 그들에게 있는 많은 자녀들이 성장하며 점차 나이 들어 강하여져서 스스로 행할 줄 알게 되어서는, 몇몇 조램인들에 의해, 그들의 거짓말과 그들의 아첨하는 말로 인해, 이끌려 가서 저 개다이앤톤 도적들에게 가담하였음이라. | And there was also a cause of much sorrow among the Lamanites; for behold, they had many children who did grow up and began to wax strong in years, that they became for themselves, and were led away by some who were Zoramites, by their lyings and their flattering words, to join those Gadianton robbers. |
| 3니 1:30 | 또 이같이 레이맨인들도 고난을 받으매, 자라나는 세대의 간악함으로 인하여, 그들의 신앙과 의로움이 감소하기 시작하더라. | And thus were the Lamanites afflicted also, and began to decrease as to their faith and righteousness, because of the wickedness of the rising generation. |
