소개 예수께서 이사야의 말씀을 승인하심 - 예수께서 백성들에게 선지자들의 글을 상고할 것을 명하심 - 부활에 관한 레이맨인 사무엘의 말이 그들의 기록에 더하여짐. 주후 34년경. Jesus approves the words of Isaiah—He commands the people to search the prophets—The words of Samuel the Lamanite concerning the resurrection are added to their records. [A.D. 34]
3니 23:1 또 이제 보라, 내가 너희에게 이르노니 너희는 마땅히 이 일을 상고하여야 하느니라. 참으로 한 가지 계명을 내가 너희에게 주노니, 너희는 이 일을 부지런히 상고하라. 이는 이사야의 말이 위대함이라. And now, behold, I say unto you, that ye ought to search these things. Yea, a commandment I give unto you that ye search these things diligently; for great are the words of Isaiah.
3니 23:2 이는 정녕 그가 이스라엘 집에 속한 내 백성에 관한 모든 일에 대하여 말하였음이니라. 그러므로 그가 불가불 이방인에게도 말하여야 할 필요가 있느니라. For surely he spake as touching all things concerning my people which are of the house of Israel; therefore it must needs be that he must speak also to the Gentiles.
3니 23:3 또 그가 말한 모든 것이 그가 한 말대로 이루어졌고 또 이루어지리로다. And all things that he spake have been and shall be, even according to the words which he spake.
3니 23:4 그러므로 내 말에 주의를 기울이라. 내가 너희에게 이른 것들을 기록하라. 아버지의 때와 뜻을 좇아 그것이 이방인들에게 나아가리라. Therefore give heed to my words; write the things which I have told you; and according to the time and the will of the Father they shall go forth unto the Gentiles.
3니 23:5 또 누구든지 내 말에 귀를 기울여 회개하고 침례를 받는 자는 구원을 얻으리라. 선지자들을 상고하라. 이러한 것을 증거하는 이가 많음이니라. And whosoever will hearken unto my words and repenteth and is baptized, the same shall be saved. Search the prophets, for many there be that testify of these things.
3니 23:6 그리고 이제 이렇게 되었나니 예수께서 이 말씀을 하시고 나서 다시 그들에게 말씀하시되, 그들이 받은 모든 경전을 그들에게 설명하신 후, 그들에게 이르시되, 볼지어다, 너희가 갖고 있지 아니한 다른 경전을 너희가 기록하기를 내가 원하노라 하시더라. And now it came to pass that when Jesus had said these words he said unto them again, after he had expounded all the scriptures unto them which they had received, he said unto them: Behold, other scriptures I would that ye should write, that ye have not.
3니 23:7 또 이렇게 되었나니 예수께서 니파이에게 이르시되, 너희가 기록하여 온 그 기록을 가져오라 하시더라. And it came to pass that he said unto Nephi: Bring forth the record which ye have kept.
3니 23:8 이에 니파이가 기록을 가져와 그의 앞에 놓으매, 예수께서 눈길을 던져 그것을 보시고 이르시되, And when Nephi had brought forth the records, and laid them before him, he cast his eyes upon them and said:
3니 23:9 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 내가 나의 종 레이맨인 사무엘에게 명하여, 아버지께서 나로 말미암아 그 이름을 영광스럽게 하시는 날에 많은 성도들이 있어 죽은 자 가운데서 일어나 많은 사람들 앞에 나타나 보이며 그들에게 성역을 베풀 것을 이 백성에게 증거하게 하였느니라 하시고, 그들에게 이르시되, 그렇지 아니하였느냐 하시더라. Verily I say unto you, I commanded my servant Samuel, the Lamanite, that he should testify unto this people, that at the day that the Father should glorify his name in me that there were many saints who should arise from the dead, and should appear unto many, and should minister unto them. And he said unto them: Was it not so?
3니 23:10 이에 제자들이 예수께 대답하여 이르되, 주여, 그러하오이다. 주의 말씀대로 사무엘은 예언하였고, 그가 예언한 것은 다 이루어졌나이다. And his disciples answered him and said: Yea, Lord, Samuel did prophesy according to thy words, and they were all fulfilled.
3니 23:11 이에 예수께서 그들에게 이르시되, 너희가 많은 성도들이 일어나 여러 사람에게 나타나 그들에게 성역을 베푼 이 일을 기록하지 아니하였음은 어찜이냐 하시더라. And Jesus said unto them: How be it that ye have not written this thing, that many saints did arise and appear unto many and did minister unto them?
3니 23:12 이에 이렇게 되었나니 니파이가 이 일이 기록되지 아니한 것을 기억하더라. And it came to pass that Nephi remembered that this thing had not been written.
3니 23:13 이에 이렇게 되었나니 예수께서 명하사 이를 기록하게 하시매, 그러므로 그가 명하신 대로 이 일이 기록되었느니라. And it came to pass that Jesus commanded that it should be written; therefore it was written according as he commanded.
3니 23:14 그리고 이제 이렇게 되었나니 예수께서 그들이 기록한 모든 경전을 하나로 설명하시고 나서, 그들에게 분부하사 그가 그들에게 설명하신 것을 가르치게 하시더라. And now it came to pass that when Jesus had expounded all the scriptures in one, which they had written, he commanded them that they should teach the things which he had expounded unto them.
