| 3니 12:1 | 그리고 이렇게 되었나니 예수께서 니파이에게와 부르심을 입은 자들에게 이 말씀을 하시고 나서, (이제 부르심을 입고 침례를 베풀 권능과 권세를 받은 자들의 수가 열둘이었더라) 보라, 무리에게로 손을 내미시고 그들에게 외쳐 이르시되, 너희 중에서 내가 택하여 너희에게 성역을 베풀게 하고 너희의 종이 되게 한 이 열둘의 말에 주의를 기울일진대 너희에게 복이 있도다. 그들에게 내가 권능을 주어 물로 너희에게 침례를 베풀게 하였나니, 너희가 물로 침례를 받은 후에, 보라, 내가 불과 성신으로 너희에게 침례를 주리라. 그러므로 너희가 나를 보고 내가 있는 줄 안 후에 나를 믿고 침례를 받을진대 너희에게 복이 있도다. | And it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words unto Nephi, and to those who had been called, (now the number of them who had been called, and received power and authority to baptize, was twelve) and behold, he stretched forth his hand unto the multitude, and cried unto them, saying: Blessed are ye if ye shall give heed unto the words of these twelve whom I have chosen from among you to minister unto you, and to be your servants; and unto them I have given power that they may baptize you with water; and after that ye are baptized with water, behold, I will baptize you with fire and with the Holy Ghost; therefore blessed are ye if ye shall believe in me and be baptized, after that ye have seen me and know that I am. |
| 3니 12:2 | 그리고 또, 너희가 나를 본 것과, 내가 있는 줄 안다는 것을 증거함으로 인하여 너희의 말을 믿을 자들은 더욱 복이 있도다. 참으로 너희의 말을 믿고, 지극히 겸손하여져서 침례를 받을 자들은 복이 있나니, 이는 그들이 불과 성신으로 방문을 받으며, 그들의 죄 사함을 받겠음이라. | And again, more blessed are they who shall believe in your words because that ye shall testify that ye have seen me, and that ye know that I am. Yea, blessed are they who shall believe in your words, and come down into the depths of humility and be baptized, for they shall be visited with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and shall receive a remission of their sins. |
| 3니 12:3 | 참으로 심령이 가난하여 내게로 오는 자들은 복이 있나니 천국이 그들의 것임이요, | Yea, blessed are the poor in spirit who come unto me, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
| 3니 12:4 | 또 애통하는 자들은 다 복이 있나니 그들이 위로를 받을 것임이요, | And again, blessed are all they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. |
| 3니 12:5 | 또 온유한 자들은 복이 있나니 그들이 땅을 기업으로 얻을 것임이요, | And blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. |
| 3니 12:6 | 또 의에 주리고 목마른 자들은 다 복이 있나니 그들이 성신으로 충만함을 입을 것임이요, | And blessed are all they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost. |
| 3니 12:7 | 또 긍휼히 여기는 자들은 복이 있나니 그들이 긍휼히 여김을 받을 것임이요, | And blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. |
| 3니 12:8 | 또 마음이 청결한 자들은 다 복이 있나니 그들이 하나님을 볼 것임이요, | And blessed are all the pure in heart, for they shall see God. |
| 3니 12:9 | 또 화평하게 하는 자들은 다 복이 있나니 그들이 하나님의 자녀라 일컬음을 받을 것임이요, | And blessed are all the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. |
| 3니 12:10 | 또 내 이름을 위하여 핍박을 받는 자들은 다 복이 있나니 천국이 그들의 것임이라. | And blessed are all they who are persecuted for my name's sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
| 3니 12:11 | 또한 나로 인하여 사람들이 너희를 욕하고 핍박하며 거짓으로 너희를 거스려 온갖 악한 말을 할 때에는 너희에게 복이 있나니, | And blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake; |
| 3니 12:12 | 이는 하늘에서 너희의 상이 크므로 너희가 크게 기뻐하고 심히 즐거워할 것임이라. 이는 너희 전에 있던 선지자들을 그들이 이같이 핍박하였음이니라. | For ye shall have great joy and be exceedingly glad, for great shall be your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets who were before you. |
| 3니 12:13 | 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 너희는 세상의 소금이 되라. 그러나 만일 소금이 그 맛을 잃으면 무엇으로 세상을 짜게 하리요? 후에는 그 소금이 아무 쓸데가 없어, 다만 밖에 버리워 사람들의 발 아래 밟힐 뿐이니라. | Verily, verily, I say unto you, I give unto you to be the salt of the earth; but if the salt shall lose its savor wherewith shall the earth be salted? The salt shall be thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot of men. |
| 3니 12:14 | 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 너희는 이 백성의 빛이 되라. 산 위에 놓인 성읍이 숨기울 수 없느니라. | Verily, verily, I say unto you, I give unto you to be the light of this people. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. |
| 3니 12:15 | 보라, 사람이 촛불을 켜서 그것을 말 아래에 두느냐? 아니라, 오히려 촛대 위에 두나니, 이에 그것이 집 안에 있는 모두에게 비취느니라. | Behold, do men light a candle and put it under a bushel? Nay, but on a candlestick, and it giveth light to all that are in the house; |
| 3니 12:16 | 그러므로 너희 빛을 이 백성 앞에 비취게 하여, 그들로 너희의 선한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라. | Therefore let your light so shine before this people, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. |
| 3니 12:17 | 내가 온 것이 율법이나 선지자를 폐하려 함인 줄로 생각하지 말라. 내가 온 것은 폐하려 함이 아니요 이루려 함이니라. | Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets. I am not come to destroy but to fulfil; |
| 3니 12:18 | 이는 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 율법에서 일점일획이라도 없어지지 아니하고 내 안에서 다 이루어졌음이니라. | For verily I say unto you, one jot nor one tittle hath not passed away from the law, but in me it hath all been fulfilled. |
| 3니 12:19 | 또한 보라, 너희로 나를 믿게 하며, 너희의 죄를 회개하고 상한 마음과 통회하는 심령으로 내게로 오게 하려고, 내가 내 아버지의 율법과 계명을 너희에게 주었노라, 보라, 계명이 너희 앞에 있고, 율법이 이루어졌도다. | And behold, I have given you the law and the commandments of my Father, that ye shall believe in me, and that ye shall repent of your sins, and come unto me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit. Behold, ye have the commandments before you, and the law is fulfilled. |
| 3니 12:20 | 그러므로 내게로 와서 너희는 구원을 받으라, 이는 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 내가 이때 너희에게 명한 나의 계명을 지키지 아니하고서는 너희가 결단코 천국에 들어가지 못할 것임이니라. | Therefore come unto me and be ye saved; for verily I say unto you, that except ye shall keep my commandments, which I have commanded you at this time, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. |
| 3니 12:21 | 옛적 사람들이 말하였다고 너희가 들었고, 또한 너희 앞에도 기록되어 있기를, 살인하지 말라, 누구든지 살인하면 하나님의 심판을 받을 위험에 처하게 되리라 하였으나, | Ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, and it is also written before you, that thou shalt not kill, and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment of God; |
| 3니 12:22 | 내가 너희에게 이르노니 누구든지 자기 형제에게 노하는 자마다 그의 심판을 받을 위험에 처하게 되고, 형제에게 라가라 하는 자마다 공회에 잡힐 위험에 처하게 되고, 미련한 놈이라 하는 자마다 지옥 불에 들어갈 위험에 처하게 되리라. | But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother shall be in danger of his judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council; and whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. |
| 3니 12:23 | 그러므로 너희가 내게로 오거나, 혹은 내게로 오기를 원할 때, 네 형제가 너를 원망할 만한 일이 있는 줄 생각나거든 - | Therefore, if ye shall come unto me, or shall desire to come unto me, and rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee- |
| 3니 12:24 | 네 형제에게로 가서, 먼저 네 형제와 화목하고, 그 후에 마음의 뜻을 다하여 내게로 오라. 그리하면 내가 너희를 영접하리라. | Go thy way unto thy brother, and first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come unto me with full purpose of heart, and I will receive you. |
| 3니 12:25 | 네 대적과 함께 길에 있을 때 급히 그와 화해하라. 어느 때에라도 그가 너를 잡으면 네가 옥에 던지울까 염려하라. | Agree with thine adversary quickly while thou art in the way with him, lest at any time he shall get thee, and thou shalt be cast into prison. |
| 3니 12:26 | 진실로 진실로 내가 네게 이르노니 네가 마지막 한 시나인까지 남김이 없이 다 갚기 전에는 결단코 거기서 나오지 못하리라. 그러나 너희가 옥에 있으면서 한 시나인이라도 갚을 수 있느냐? 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 그렇게 할 수 없느니라. | Verily, verily, I say unto thee, thou shalt by no means come out thence until thou hast paid the uttermost senine. And while ye are in prison can ye pay even one senine? Verily, verily, I say unto you, Nay. |
| 3니 12:27 | 보라, 옛적 사람들이 기록하기를, 간음을 범하지 말라 하였도다. | Behold, it is written by them of old time, that thou shalt not commit adultery; |
| 3니 12:28 | 그러나 내가 너희에게 이르노니 여자를 보고 음욕을 품는 자마다 이미 그의 마음에 간음을 범하였느니라. | But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman, to lust after her, hath committed adultery already in his heart. |
| 3니 12:29 | 보라, 내가 너희에게 계명을 주노니 이러한 것이 하나도 너희 마음에 들어가지 못하게 하라. | Behold, I give unto you a commandment, that ye suffer none of these things to enter into your heart; |
| 3니 12:30 | 이러한 것들을 거절하고 너희의 십자가를 지는 것이 지옥에 던져지는 것보다 나음이니라. | For it is better that ye should deny yourselves of these things, wherein ye will take up your cross, than that ye should be cast into hell. |
| 3니 12:31 | 기록되었으되 누구든지 그 아내를 버리거든 이혼 증서를 그에게 줄 것이라 하였도다. | It hath been written, that whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement. |
| 3니 12:32 | 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 음행한 연고 없이 그 아내를 버리는 자는 그로 간음을 범하게 함이요, 또 누구든지 이혼한 여자에게 장가드는 자도 간음을 범함이니라. | Verily, verily, I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery; and whoso shall marry her who is divorced committeth adultery. |
| 3니 12:33 | 그리고 또 기록되었으되, 헛맹세를 하지 말고 네 맹세한 것을 주께 지키라 하였으나, | And again it is written, thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths; |
| 3니 12:34 | 진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 도무지 맹세하지 말지니 하늘로도 말라, 이는 하나님의 보좌임이요, | But verily, verily, I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by heaven, for it is God's throne; |
| 3니 12:35 | 땅으로도 말라, 이는 하나님의 발등상임이요, | Nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; |
| 3니 12:36 | 네 머리로도 맹세하지 말라, 이는 네가 한 터럭도 검거나 희게 할 수 없음이라. | Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair black or white; |
| 3니 12:37 | 오직 너희 말은 예, 예, 아니오, 아니오가 되게 하라. 이보다 더한 것에서 나오는 것은 악이니라. | But let your communication be Yea, yea; Nay, nay; for whatsoever cometh of more than these is evil. |
| 3니 12:38 | 또 보라, 기록되었으되 눈은 눈으로, 이는 이로 갚으라 하였도다. | And behold, it is written, an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth; |
| 3니 12:39 | 그러나 내가 너희에게 이르노니 너희는 악을 대적하지 말라. 누구든지 네 오른뺨을 치거든 왼뺨도 돌려 대며, | But I say unto you, that ye shall not resist evil, but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also; |
| 3니 12:40 | 또한 누가 너를 법에 고소하여 네 속옷을 가져가고자 하거든 그에게 너의 겉옷까지도 가지게 하며, | And if any man will sue thee at the law and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also; |
| 3니 12:41 | 또 누구든지 너로 억지로 오리를 가게 하거든 그와 십 리를 동행하라. | And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. |
| 3니 12:42 | 네게 구하는 자에게 주며, 네게 꾸고자 하는 자에게 거절하지 말라. | Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn thou not away. |
| 3니 12:43 | 보라, 또한 기록되었으되 네 이웃을 사랑하고 네 원수를 미워하라 하였으나, | And behold it is written also, that thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy; |
| 3니 12:44 | 보라, 내가 너희에게 이르노니 너희 원수를 사랑하며 너희를 저주하는 자를 축복하며 너희를 미워하는 자들에게 선을 행하며 너희를 업신여겨 이용하고 너희를 핍박하는 자들을 위하여 기도하라. | But behold I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you; |
| 3니 12:45 | 이같이 한즉 너희가 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 자녀가 되리니, 이는 아버지께서 그 해를 악인 위에와 선인 위에 뜨게 하심이라. | That ye may be the children of your Father who is in heaven; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good. |
| 3니 12:46 | 그러므로 율법 아래에 있던 옛적의 것들이 내 안에서 모두 이루어졌느니라. | Therefore those things which were of old time, which were under the law, in me are all fulfilled. |
| 3니 12:47 | 옛 것이 지나가고 모든 것이 새로워졌느니라. | Old things are done away, and all things have become new. |
| 3니 12:48 | 그러므로 나는 원하노니 나나 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께서 온전하심같이 너희도 온전하라. | Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect. |
