| 몰몬 6:1 | 그리고 이제 나는 내 백성 니파이인들의 멸망에 관한 나의 기록을 마무리하노라. 또 이렇게 되었나니 우리는 레이맨인들보다 앞서 진군하여 나아갔느니라. | And now I finish my record concerning the destruction of my people, the Nephites. And it came to pass that we did march forth before the Lamanites. |
| 몰몬 6:2 | 또 나 몰몬은 레이맨인의 왕에게 편지를 써서, 우리가 우리의 백성을 쿠모라라 칭하는 한 작은 산 옆 쿠모라 땅에 함께 모으고 거기서 우리가 그들과 싸울 수 있게 하여 줄 것을 그에게 요청하였느니라. | And I, Mormon, wrote an epistle unto the king of the Lamanites, and desired of him that he would grant unto us that we might gather together our people unto the land of Cumorah, by a hill which was called Cumorah, and there we could give them battle. |
| 몰몬 6:3 | 이에 이렇게 되었나니 레이맨인의 왕이 내가 요청한 일을 내게 수락하니라. | And it came to pass that the king of the Lamanites did grant unto me the thing which I desired. |
| 몰몬 6:4 | 이에 이렇게 되었나니 우리가 쿠모라 땅으로 진군하여 가서 쿠모라 산 근처 사방에 우리의 장막을 쳤으니, 이는 많은 물과 강들과 샘들이 있는 땅에 있었으며, 이 곳에서 우리는 레이맨인들에게 대하여 우위를 얻을 수 있기를 바랐느니라. | And it came to pass that we did march forth to the land of Cumorah, and we did pitch our tents around about the hill Cumorah; and it was in a land of many waters, rivers, and fountains; and here we had hope to gain advantage over the Lamanites. |
| 몰몬 6:5 | 이에 삼백팔십사 년이 지나고 나서 우리는 우리의 남은 백성을 모두 쿠모라 땅으로 모아들였느니라. | And when three hundred and eighty and four years had passed away, we had gathered in all the remainder of our people unto the land of Cumorah. |
| 몰몬 6:6 | 또 이렇게 되었나니 우리가 우리의 백성들을 모두 쿠모라 땅으로 모아들여 한무리가 되게 하고 나서, 보라, 나 몰몬은 늙었고 이것이 내 백성의 마지막 싸움이 될 줄 알았으며, 또 우리 조상들에 의해 전달되어 내려온 거룩한 기록들을 레이맨인들의 손에 떨어지게 하지 말라는 명령을 주께 받았던지라, (이는 레이맨인들이 이를 파괴할 것임이라) 그리하여 나는 니파이의 판으로부터 이 기록을 만들고, 나의 아들 모로나이에게 내가 준 이 몇 장의 판을 제외하고는 주의 손으로 내게 맡겨졌던 모든 기록을 쿠모라 산에 감추었느니라. | And it came to pass that when we had gathered in all our people in one to the land of Cumorah, behold I, Mormon, began to be old; and knowing it to be the last struggle of my people, and having been commanded of the Lord that I should not suffer the records which had been handed down by our fathers, which were sacred, to fall into the hands of the Lamanites, (for the Lamanites would destroy them) therefore I made this record out of the plates of Nephi, and hid up in the hill Cumorah all the records which had been entrusted to me by the hand of the Lord, save it were these few plates which I gave unto my son Moroni. |
| 몰몬 6:7 | 그리고 이렇게 되었나니 나의 백성들은 이제 그들의 아내와 그들의 자녀들과 더불어 레이맨인들의 군대가 그들을 향하여 진군하여 오는 것을 보고, 모든 간악한 자의 가슴을 채우는 저 끔찍한 사망의 두려움을 안고 그들을 맞기를 기다렸느니라. | And it came to pass that my people, with their wives and their children, did now behold the armies of the Lamanites marching towards them; and with that awful fear of death which fills the breasts of all the wicked, did they await to receive them. |
| 몰몬 6:8 | 또 이렇게 되었나니 저들이 우리를 대적하여 싸우러 오매, 저들의 수효가 많음으로 인하여 모든 영혼에 공포가 가득하게 되었더라. | And it came to pass that they came to battle against us, and every soul was filled with terror because of the greatness of their numbers. |
| 몰몬 6:9 | 또 이렇게 되었나니 저희는 칼과 활과 화살과 도끼와 온갖 전쟁 무기를 가지고 나의 백성들을 엄습하였느니라. | And it came to pass that they did fall upon my people with the sword, and with the bow, and with the arrow, and with the ax, and with all manner of weapons of war. |
| 몰몬 6:10 | 이에 이렇게 되었나니 나의 병사들, 곧 참으로 나와 함께 하였던 나의 만 명이 베임을 당하여 엎드러졌고, 나는 부상을 입고 그 가운데 엎드러졌으나, 저들이 나를 지나치고 내 생명에 끝을 내지 아니하였느니라. | And it came to pass that my men were hewn down, yea, even my ten thousand who were with me, and I fell wounded in the midst; and they passed by me that they did not put an end to my life. |
| 몰몬 6:11 | 이에 저들이 우리 중 스물넷을 제외한 (이 가운데 나의 아들 모로나이가 있었느니라) 나의 모든 백성을 베어 엎드러뜨리고 지나간 후, 우리 백성의 죽은 자 뒤에 살아남은 우리는, 다음 날 레이맨인들이 저들의 진으로 돌아가고 난 뒤 쿠모라 산꼭대기에서, 내가 그 앞에서 이끌었던 나의 백성 만 명이 베임을 당하여 엎드러진 것을 보았더라. | And when they had gone through and hewn down all my people save it were twenty and four of us, (among whom was my son Moroni) and we having survived the dead of our people, did behold on the morrow, when the Lamanites had returned unto their camps, from the top of the hill Cumorah, the ten thousand of my people who were hewn down, being led in the front by me. |
| 몰몬 6:12 | 그리고 또한 우리는 나의 아들 모로나이가 이끌었던 나의 백성 만 명도 보았더라. | And we also beheld the ten thousand of my people who were led by my son Moroni. |
| 몰몬 6:13 | 또 보라 기드긷도나의 만 명도 엎드러졌고, 그도 그 가운데 있었느니라. | And behold, the ten thousand of Gidgiddonah had fallen, and he also in the midst. |
| 몰몬 6:14 | 또 레이마도 그의 만 명과 함께 엎드러졌고, 길갈도 그의 만 명과 함께 엎드러졌고, 림하도 그의 만 명과 함께 엎드러졌고, 예니움도 그의 만 명과 함께 엎드러졌고, 쿠메나이하와 모로나이하와 앤티오눔과 시블롬과 셈과 야슈도 각기 그들의 만 명과 함께 엎드러졌더라. | And Lamah had fallen with his ten thousand; and Gilgal had fallen with his ten thousand; and Limhah had fallen with his ten thousand; and Jeneum had fallen with his ten thousand; and Cumenihah, and Moronihah, and Antionum, and Shiblom, and Shem, and Josh, had fallen with their ten thousand each. |
| 몰몬 6:15 | 또 이렇게 되었나니 이 밖에도 각기 그 만 명과 함께 칼에 엎드러진 자가 십 명 더 있었나니, 참으로 나와 함께 있었던 그 스물넷과 또한 남쪽 지방으로 도피한 자 몇몇과 레이맨인들에게로 도망하여 넘어간 자 몇몇을 제외하고는 모든 나의 백성이 엎드러져 그들의 살과 뼈와 피가 그들을 살육한 자들의 손으로 버린 바 되어, 땅 위에서 썩고 부스러져서, 그 어미 땅으로 돌아가게 되었더라. | And it came to pass that there were ten more who did fall by the sword, with their ten thousand each; yea, even all my people, save it were those twenty and four who were with me, and also a few who had escaped into the south countries, and a few who had deserted over unto the Lamanites, had fallen; and their flesh, and bones, and blood lay upon the face of the earth, being left by the hands of those who slew them to molder upon the land, and to crumble and to return to their mother earth. |
| 몰몬 6:16 | 이에 내 백성의 살육 당한 자들로 인하여 나의 영혼이 고통으로 찢기운지라 내가 부르짖기를, | And my soul was rent with anguish, because of the slain of my people, and I cried: |
| 몰몬 6:17 | 오 너희 아름다운 자들아, 어떻게 너희가 주의 길에서 떠날 수가 있었더냐! 오 너희 아름다운 자들아, 어떻게 너희가 너희를 영접하시려고 팔을 벌리고 서 계시던 그 예수를 저버릴 수가 있었더냐! | O ye fair ones, how could ye have departed from the ways of the Lord! O ye fair ones, how could ye have rejected that Jesus, who stood with open arms to receive you! |
| 몰몬 6:18 | 보라, 너희가 이렇게 하지 아니하였던들, 너희가 엎드러지지 아니하였을 것이라. 그러나 보라, 너희는 엎드러졌고, 나는 너희를 잃음을 애통해 하노라. | Behold, if ye had not done this, ye would not have fallen. But behold, ye are fallen, and I mourn your loss. |
| 몰몬 6:19 | 오 너희 아름다운 아들과 딸, 너희 아버지와 어머니, 너희 남편과 아내, 너희 아름다운 자들아, 너희가 엎드러질 수 있음은 어찜이냐! | O ye fair sons and daughters, ye fathers and mothers, ye husbands and wives, ye fair ones, how is it that ye could have fallen! |
| 몰몬 6:20 | 그러나 보라, 너희는 갔고 나의 슬픔이 너희를 돌아오게 할 수 없도다. | But behold, ye are gone, and my sorrows cannot bring your return. |
| 몰몬 6:21 | 그러나 너희의 죽어야 하는 몸이 반드시 죽지 아니함을 입으며, 지금 썩어 부스러지고 있는 이 몸들이 반드시 속히 썩지 아니하는 몸이 될 날이 속히 이르나니, 그때에 너희는 너희의 행위에 따라 심판받기 위하여 반드시 그리스도의 심판대 앞에 설 것이요, 너희가 만일 의로우면 너희는 너희보다 앞서 간 너희 조상들과 함께 복이 있도다. | And the day soon cometh that your mortal must put on immortality, and these bodies which are now moldering in corruption must soon become incorruptible bodies; and then ye must stand before the judgment-seat of Christ, to be judged according to your works; and if it so be that ye are righteous, then are ye blessed with your fathers who have gone before you. |
| 몰몬 6:22 | 오 이 큰 멸망이 너희에게 임하기 전에 너희가 회개하였더라면 좋았으련만. 그러나 보라, 너희는 갔고, 아버지, 곧 영원하신 하늘의 아버지께서 너희의 상태를 아시나니, 그는 그의 공의와 자비를 좇아 너희에게 행하시느니라. | O that ye had repented before this great destruction had come upon you. But behold, ye are gone, and the Father, yea, the Eternal Father of heaven, knoweth your state; and he doeth with you according to his justice and mercy. |
