소개	내가 해 아래서 행하는 모든 일을 본즉 다 헛되어 바람을 잡으려는 것이로다	Everything under the sun is vanity and vexation of spirit—He that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
전 1:1	다윗의 아들 예루살렘 왕 전도자의 말씀이라	The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.
전 1:2	전도자가 이르되 헛되고 헛되며 헛되고 헛되니 모든 것이 헛되도다	Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
전 1:3	해 아래에서 수고하는 모든 수고가 사람에게 무엇이 유익한가	What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?
전 1:4	한 세대는 가고 한 세대는 오되 땅은 영원히 있도다	One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.
전 1:5	해는 뜨고 해는 지되 그 떴던 곳으로 빨리 돌아가고	The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.
전 1:6	바람은 남으로 불다가 북으로 돌아가며 이리 돌며 저리 돌아 바람은 그 불던 곳으로 돌아가고	The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.
전 1:7	모든 강물은 다 바다로 흐르되 바다를 채우지 못하며 강물은 어느 곳으로 흐르든지 그리로 연하여 흐르느니라	All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
전 1:8	모든 만물이 피곤하다는 것을 사람이 말로 다 말할 수는 없나니 눈은 보아도 족함이 없고 귀는 들어도 가득 차지 아니하도다	All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
전 1:9	이미 있던 것이 후에 다시 있겠고 이미 한 일을 후에 다시 할지라 해 아래에는 새 것이 없나니	The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
전 1:10	무엇을 가리켜 이르기를 보라 이것이 새 것이라 할 것이 있으랴 우리가 있기 오래 전 세대들에도 이미 있었느니라	Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
전 1:11	이전 세대들이 기억됨이 없으니 장래 세대도 그 후 세대들과 함께 기억됨이 없으리라	There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.
전 1:12	나 전도자는 예루살렘에서 이스라엘 왕이 되어	I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
전 1:13	마음을 다하며 지혜를 써서 하늘 아래에서 행하는 모든 일을 연구하며 살핀즉 이는 괴로운 것이니 하나님이 인생들에게 주사 수고하게 하신 것이라	And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.
전 1:14	내가 해 아래에서 행하는 모든 일을 보았노라 보라 모두 다 헛되어 바람을 잡으려는 것이로다	I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
전 1:15	구부러진 것도 곧게 할 수 없고 모자란 것도 셀 수 없도다	That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.
전 1:16	내가 내 마음 속으로 말하여 이르기를 보라 내가 크게 되고 지혜를 더 많이 얻었으므로 나보다 먼저 예루살렘에 있던 모든 사람들보다 낫다 하였나니 내 마음이 지혜와 지식을 많이 만나 보았음이로다	I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.
전 1:17	내가 다시 지혜를 알고자 하며 미친 것들과 미련한 것들을 알고자 하여 마음을 썼으나 이것도 바람을 잡으려는 것인 줄을 깨달았도다	And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.
전 1:18	지혜가 많으면 번뇌도 많으니 지식을 더하는 자는 근심을 더하느니라	For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
