소개 여호와의 노하신 매로 인하여 고난 당한 자는 내로다 Jeremiah speaking for Judah bewails the calamity, but trusts in the Lord and prays for deliverance.

 
애 3:1 여호와의 분노의 매로 말미암아 고난 당한 자는 나로다 I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

 
애 3:2 나를 이끌어 어둠 안에서 걸어가게 하시고 빛 안에서 걸어가지 못하게 하셨으며 He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.

 
애 3:3 종일토록 손을 들어 자주자주 나를 치시는도다 Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.

 
애 3:4 나의 살과 가죽을 쇠하게 하시며 나의 뼈들을 꺾으셨고 My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.

 
애 3:5 고통과 수고를 쌓아 나를 에우셨으며 He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.

 
애 3:6 나를 어둠 속에 살게 하시기를 죽은 지 오랜 자 같게 하셨도다 He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.

 
애 3:7 나를 둘러싸서 나가지 못하게 하시고 내 사슬을 무겁게 하셨으며 He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

 
애 3:8 내가 부르짖어 도움을 구하나 내 기도를 물리치시며 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.

 
애 3:9 다듬은 돌을 쌓아 내 길들을 막으사 내 길들을 굽게 하셨도다 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.

 
애 3:10 그는 내게 대하여 엎드려 기다리는 곰과 은밀한 곳에 있는 사자 같으사 He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.

 
애 3:11 나의 길들로 치우치게 하시며 내 몸을 찢으시며 나를 적막하게 하셨도다 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.

 
애 3:12 활을 당겨 나를 화살의 과녁으로 삼으심이여 He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.

 
애 3:13 화살통의 화살들로 내 허리를 맞추셨도다 He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.

 
애 3:14 나는 내 모든 백성에게 조롱거리 곧 종일토록 그들의 노랫거리가 되었도다 I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.

 
애 3:15 나를 쓴 것들로 배불리시고 쑥으로 취하게 하셨으며 He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.

 
애 3:16 조약돌로 내 이들을 꺾으시고 재로 나를 덮으셨도다 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.

 
애 3:17 주께서 내 심령이 평강에서 멀리 떠나게 하시니 내가 복을 내어버렸음이여 And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.

 
애 3:18 스스로 이르기를 나의 힘과 여호와께 대한 내 소망이 끊어졌다 하였도다 And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:

 
애 3:19 내 고초와 재난 곧 쑥과 담즙을 기억하소서 Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.

 
애 3:20 내 마음이 그것을 기억하고 내가 낙심이 되오나 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

 
애 3:21 이것을 내가 내 마음에 담아 두었더니 그것이 오히려 나의 소망이 되었사옴은 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

 
애 3:22 여호와의 인자와 긍휼이 무궁하시므로 우리가 진멸되지 아니함이니이다 It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

 
애 3:23 이것들이 아침마다 새로우니 주의 성실하심이 크시도소이다 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

 
애 3:24 내 심령에 이르기를 여호와는 나의 기업이시니 그러므로 내가 그를 바라리라 하도다 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

 
애 3:25 기다리는 자들에게나 구하는 영혼들에게 여호와는 선하시도다 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

 
애 3:26 사람이 여호와의 구원을 바라고 잠잠히 기다림이 좋도다 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

 
애 3:27 사람은 젊었을 때에 멍에를 메는 것이 좋으니 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

 
애 3:28 혼자 앉아서 잠잠할 것은 주께서 그것을 그에게 메우셨음이라 He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.

 
애 3:29 그대의 입을 땅의 티끌에 댈지어다 혹시 소망이 있을지로다 He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.

 
애 3:30 자기를 치는 자에게 뺨을 돌려대어 치욕으로 배불릴지어다 He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.

 
애 3:31 이는 주께서 영원하도록 버리지 아니하실 것임이며 For the Lord will not cast off for ever:

 
애 3:32 그가 비록 근심하게 하시나 그의 풍부한 인자하심에 따라 긍휼히 여기실 것임이라 But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

 
애 3:33 주께서 인생으로 고생하게 하시며 근심하게 하심은 본심이 아니시로다 For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

 
애 3:34 세상에 있는 모든 갇힌 자들을 발로 밟는 것과 To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,

 
애 3:35 지존자의 얼굴 앞에서 사람의 재판을 굽게 하는 것과 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,

 
애 3:36 사람의 송사를 억울하게 하는 것은 다 주께서 기쁘게 보시는 것이 아니로다 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.

 
애 3:37 주의 명령이 아니면 누가 이것을 능히 말하여 이루게 할 수 있으랴 Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

 
애 3:38 화와 복이 지존자의 입으로부터 나오지 아니하느냐 Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?

 
애 3:39 살아 있는 사람은 자기 죄들 때문에 벌을 받나니 어찌 원망하랴 Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

 
애 3:40 우리가 스스로 우리의 행위들을 조사하고 여호와께로 돌아가자 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

 
애 3:41 우리의 마음과 손을 아울러 하늘에 계신 하나님께 들자 Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

 
애 3:42 우리의 범죄함과 우리의 반역함을 주께서 사하지 아니하시고 We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.

 
애 3:43 진노로 자신을 가리시고 우리를 추격하시며 죽이시고 긍휼을 베풀지 아니하셨나이다 Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.

 
애 3:44 주께서 구름으로 자신을 가리사 기도가 상달되지 못하게 하시고 Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.

 
애 3:45 우리를 뭇 나라 가운데에서 쓰레기와 폐물로 삼으셨으므로 Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.

 
애 3:46 우리의 모든 원수들이 우리를 향하여 그들의 입을 크게 벌렸나이다 All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.

 
애 3:47 두려움과 함정과 파멸과 멸망이 우리에게 임하였도다 Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.

 
애 3:48 딸 내 백성의 파멸로 말미암아 내 눈에는 눈물이 시내처럼 흐르도다 Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

 
애 3:49 내 눈에 흐르는 눈물이 그치지 아니하고 쉬지 아니함이여 Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,

 
애 3:50 여호와께서 하늘에서 살피시고 돌아보실 때까지니라 Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven.

 
애 3:51 나의 성읍의 모든 여자들을 내 눈으로 보니 내 심령이 상하는도다 Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.

 
애 3:52 나의 원수들이 이유없이 나를 새처럼 사냥하는도다 Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.

 
애 3:53 그들이 내 생명을 끊으려고 나를 구덩이에 넣고 그 위에 돌을 던짐이여 They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.

 
애 3:54 물이 내 머리 위로 넘치니 내가 스스로 이르기를 이제는 멸절되었다 하도다 Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.

 
애 3:55 여호와여 내가 심히 깊은 구덩이에서 주의 이름을 불렀나이다 I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

 
애 3:56 주께서 이미 나의 음성을 들으셨사오니 이제 나의 탄식과 부르짖음에 주의 귀를 가리지 마옵소서 Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.

 
애 3:57 내가 주께 아뢴 날에 주께서 내게 가까이 하여 이르시되 두려워하지 말라 하셨나이다 Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.

 
애 3:58 주여 주께서 내 심령의 원통함을 풀어 주셨고 내 생명을 속량하셨나이다 O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

 
애 3:59 여호와여 나의 억울함을 보셨사오니 나를 위하여 원통함을 풀어주옵소서 O LORD, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.

 
애 3:60 그들이 내게 보복하며 나를 모해함을 주께서 다 보셨나이다 Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.

 
애 3:61 여호와여 그들이 나를 비방하며 나를 모해하는 모든 것 Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD, and all their imaginations against me;

 
애 3:62 곧 일어나 나를 치는 자들의 입술에서 나오는 것들과 종일 나를 모해하는 것들을 들으셨나이다 The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.

 
애 3:63 그들이 앉으나 서나 나를 조롱하여 노래하는 것을 주목하여 보옵소서 Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.

 
애 3:64 여호와여 주께서 그들의 손이 행한 대로 그들에게 보응하사 Render unto them a recompence, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.

 
애 3:65 그들에게 거만한 마음을 주시고 그들에게 저주를 내리소서 Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.

 
애 3:66 주께서 진노로 그들을 뒤쫓으사 여호와의 하늘 아래에서 멸하소서 Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the LORD.
