소개 엘리야가 하늘을 닫아버리고 까마귀가 가져다 주는 음식으로 생활함. 그의 명에따라 과부의 통의 가루와 병의 기름이 다하여 없어지지 않음. 엘리야가 그 과부의 죽은 아들을 살림. Elijah seals the heavens, and is fed by the ravens—At his command the barrel of meal and the cruse of oil of the widow of Zarephath fail not—He raises her son from death.

 
왕상 17:1 길르앗에 우거하는 자 중에 디셉 사람 엘리야가 아합에게 말하되 내가 섬기는 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내 말이 없으면 수 년 동안 비도 이슬도 있지 아니하리라 하니라 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

 
왕상 17:2 여호와의 말씀이 엘리야에게 임하여 이르시되 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,

 
왕상 17:3 너는 여기서 떠나 동쪽으로 가서 요단 앞 그릿 시냇가에 숨고 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

 
왕상 17:4 그 시냇물을 마시라 내가 까마귀들에게 명령하여 거기서 너를 먹이게 하리라 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

 
왕상 17:5 그가 여호와의 말씀과 같이 하여 곧 가서 요단 앞 그릿 시냇가에 머물매 So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

 
왕상 17:6 까마귀들이 아침에도 떡과 고기를, 저녁에도 떡과 고기를 가져왔고 그가 시냇물을 마셨으나 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

 
왕상 17:7 땅에 비가 내리지 아니하므로 얼마 후에 그 시내가 마르니라 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

 
왕상 17:8 여호와의 말씀이 엘리야에게 임하여 이르시되 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,

 
왕상 17:9 너는 일어나 시돈에 속한 사르밧으로 가서 거기 머물라 내가 그 곳 과부에게 명령하여 네게 음식을 주게 하였느니라 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

 
왕상 17:10 그가 일어나 사르밧으로 가서 성문에 이를 때에 한 과부가 그 곳에서 나뭇가지를 줍는지라 이에 불러 이르되 청하건대 그릇에 물을 조금 가져다가 내가 마시게 하라 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

 
왕상 17:11 그가 가지러 갈 때에 엘리야가 그를 불러 이르되 청하건대 네 손의 떡 한 조각을 내게로 가져오라 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

 
왕상 17:12 그가 이르되 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 나는 떡이 없고 다만 통에 가루 한 움큼과 병에 기름 조금 뿐이라 내가 나뭇가지 둘을 주워다가 나와 내 아들을 위하여 음식을 만들어 먹고 그 후에는 죽으리라 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

 
왕상 17:13 엘리야가 그에게 이르되 두려워하지 말고 가서 네 말대로 하려니와 먼저 그것으로 나를 위하여 작은 떡 한 개를 만들어 내게로 가져오고 그 후에 너와 네 아들을 위하여 만들라 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

 
왕상 17:14 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와의 말씀이 나 여호와가 비를 지면에 내리는 날까지 그 통의 가루가 떨어지지 아니하고 그 병의 기름이 없어지지 아니하리라 하셨느니라 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.

 
왕상 17:15 그가 가서 엘리야의 말대로 하였더니 그와 엘리야와 그의 식구가 여러 날 먹었으나 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

 
왕상 17:16 여호와께서 엘리야를 통하여 하신 말씀 같이 통의 가루가 떨어지지 아니하고 병의 기름이 없어지지 아니하니라 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.

 
왕상 17:17 이 일 후에 그 집 주인 되는 여인의 아들이 병들어 증세가 심히 위중하다가 숨이 끊어진지라 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.

 
왕상 17:18 여인이 엘리야에게 이르되 하나님의 사람이여 당신이 나와 더불어 무슨 상관이 있기로 내 죄를 생각나게 하고 또 내 아들을 죽게 하려고 내게 오셨나이까 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?

 
왕상 17:19 엘리야가 그에게 그의 아들을 달라 하여 그를 그 여인의 품에서 받아 안고 자기가 거처하는 다락에 올라가서 자기 침상에 누이고 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.

 
왕상 17:20 여호와께 부르짖어 이르되 내 하나님 여호와여 주께서 또 내가 우거하는 집 과부에게 재앙을 내리사 그 아들이 죽게 하셨나이까 하고 And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?

 
왕상 17:21 그 아이 위에 몸을 세 번 펴서 엎드리고 여호와께 부르짖어 이르되 내 하나님 여호와여 원하건대 이 아이의 혼으로 그의 몸에 돌아오게 하옵소서 하니 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.

 
왕상 17:22 여호와께서 엘리야의 소리를 들으시므로 그 아이의 혼이 몸으로 돌아오고 살아난지라 And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

 
왕상 17:23 엘리야가 그 아이를 안고 다락에서 방으로 내려가서 그의 어머니에게 주며 이르되 보라 네 아들이 살아났느니라 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.

 
왕상 17:24 여인이 엘리야에게 이르되 내가 이제야 당신은 하나님의 사람이시요 당신의 입에 있는 여호와의 말씀이 진실한 줄 아노라 하니라 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.
