소개 주께서 이스라엘에게 자신의 목적을 계시하심 - 이스라엘은 고난의 풀무에서 택함을 받았고 바벨론에서 나아가게 될 것임 - 이사야 48장과 비교하라. 주전588~570년경. The Lord reveals his purposes to Israel—They have been chosen in the furnace of affliction and are to go forth from Babylon—Compare Isaiah 48. [Between 588 and 570 B.C.]
니전 20:1 야곱의 집이여, 귀를 기울여 이를 들으라. 이스라엘의 이름으로 일컬음을 받으며, 유다의 물, 곧 침례의 물에서 나왔으며, 주의 이름으로 맹세하며, 이스라엘의 하나님을 이야기하나, 그들이 진리나 의로 맹세하지 아니하는도다. HEARKEN and hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, or out of the waters of baptism, who swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, yet they swear not in truth nor in righteousness.
니전 20:2 그럼에도 그들이 스스로를 거룩한 성 백성이라 칭하거니와, 그들이 만군의 주이신 이스라엘의 하나님을 의지하지 아니하나니, 실로 만군의 주는 그의 이름이니라. Nevertheless, they call themselves of the holy city, but they do not stay themselves upon the God of Israel, who is the Lord of Hosts; yea, the Lord of Hosts is his name.
니전 20:3 보라 내가 이전 일들을 처음부터 선포하였나니, 그 일들이 내 입에서 나갔고, 내가 그 일들을 보이되, 홀연히 보였느니라. Behold, I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them. I did show them suddenly.
니전 20:4 또 내가 그같이 행한 것은 네가 완고하며, 네 목은 무쇠로 된 힘줄이요, 네 이마는 놋임을 내가 알았음이라. And I did it because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;
니전 20:5 또 내가 실로 처음부터 네게 선포하였으며, 그 일이 이루기 전에 내가 그것들을 네게 보였나니 내가 그것들을 보였음은 네가 말하기를, 나의 우상이 행한 바요, 나의 새긴 신상과 나의 부어 만든 신상이 명한 바라 할까 염려하였음이니라. And I have even from the beginning declared to thee; before it came to pass I showed them thee; and I showed them for fear lest thou shouldst say-Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image hath commanded them.
니전 20:6 네가 이 모든 것을 보고 들었으니, 네가 그것을 선포하지 아니하겠느냐? 또 내가 이때로부터 새 일 곧 감추어졌던 일도 보였던 것과 네가 알지 못하였던 것을 선포하지 아니하겠느냐? Thou hast seen and heard all this; and will ye not declare them? And that I have showed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.
니전 20:7 그 일들은 이제 창조되었고 태초부터가 아니라 네가 이를 듣지 아니하던 날 이전에 그것들이 네게 선포되었나니, 그러므로 보라 내가 이를 알고 있었다 말했어야 하리라. They are created now, and not from the beginning, even before the day when thou heardest them not they were declared unto thee, lest thou shouldst say-Behold I knew them.
니전 20:8 또한 네가 듣지 아니하였고, 참으로 네가 알지 못하였으며, 참으로 그때로부터 네 귀가 열리지 아니하였나니, 이는 네가 몹시 불충하게 행하는 것과 네가 모태에서부터 범법자라 칭함을 입은 줄 내가 알았음이라. Yea, and thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time thine ear was not opened; for I knew that thou wouldst deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.
니전 20:9 그러할지라도 내 이름을 위하여 내가 내 노여움을 미룰 것이요, 내 찬송을 위하여 내가 참고 너를 끊어 버리지 아니하리라. Nevertheless, for my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain from thee, that I cut thee not off.
니전 20:10 이는 보라 내가 너를 정제하였으되, 내가 너를 고난의 풀무에서 택하였음이라. For, behold, I have refined thee, I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.
니전 20:11 나 스스로를 위하여 참으로 나 스스로를 위하여 내가 이를 행할 것은, 내가 내 이름으로 더럽히게 버려두지 아니할 것이며, 내 영광을 다른 자에게 주지 아니할 것임이니라. For mine own sake, yea, for mine own sake will I do this, for I will not suffer my name to be polluted, and I will not give my glory unto another.
니전 20:12 야곱아, 또 내가 부른 이스라엘아, 내게 귀를 기울이라, 이는 내가 그임이니, 나는 처음이요 나는 또 마지막이라. Hearken unto me, O Jacob, and Israel my called, for I am he; I am the first, and I am also the last.
니전 20:13 내 손이 땅의 기초를 놓았고 내 오른손이 하늘을 펼쳤나니, 내가 그것들을 부르면 그것들이 함께 일어서느니라. Mine hand hath also laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens. I call unto them and they stand up together.
니전 20:14 너희는 다 모여 들으라. 그들중에 누가 이러한 일들을 그들에게 선포하였느냐? 주께서 그를 사랑하셨나니 또한 그가 그들로 선포한 자기의 말을 이룰 것이라. 또 그가 자기 뜻을 바벨론에 행할 것이며, 그의 팔이 갈대아인에게 임하리라. All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; who among them hath declared these things unto them? The Lord hath loved him; yea, and he will fulfil his word which he hath declared by them; and he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall come upon the Chaldeans.
니전 20:15 또한 주께서 말씀하시되, 나 주 곧 내가 말하였고 참으로 내가 그를 불러 선포하게 하였으며 내가 그를 데려왔나니, 그가 자기 길을 형통하게 하리라. Also, saith the Lord; I the Lord, yea, I have spoken; yea, I have called him to declare, I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.
니전 20:16 너희는 내게 가까이 오라. 나는 은밀히 말하지 아니하였노라. 처음부터 그것이 선포되던 때부터 내가 말하였나니, 주 하나님과 그의 영이 나를 보내셨느니라. Come ye near unto me; I have not spoken in secret; from the beginning, from the time that it was declared have I spoken; and the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.
니전 20:17 또 이같이 주, 네 구속주, 이스라엘의 거룩하신 자께서 말씀하시느니라. 내가 그를 보냈으며, 네게 유익하도록 가르치고 마땅히 행할 길로 너를 인도하는 주 너의 하나님이 그 일을 행하였느니라. And thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I have sent him, the Lord thy God who teacheth thee to profit, who leadeth thee by the way thou shouldst go, hath done it.
니전 20:18 오 네가 나의 명령을 들었더라면 - 그리하였더라면 네 평강이 강과 같았을 것이며 네 의가 바다 물결과 같았을 것이요,

O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments-then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea.
니전 20:19 네 자손이 모래 같았겠고 네 몸의 소생이 모래알 같아서, 그 이름이 내 앞에서 끊어지지 아니하였을 것이며 멸망당하지 아니하였으리라. Thy seed also had been as the sand; the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.
니전 20:20 너희는 바벨론에서 나아가며 갈대아인에게서 도망하고, 노래하는 음성으로 선포하여 이를 고하며 땅 끝까지 공표하여 이르기를, 주께서 그 종 야곱을 구속하셨다 하라.

Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter to the end of the earth; say ye: The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob.
니전 20:21 또 그들은 목마르지 아니하였나니, 그가 그들을 인도하여 사막을 지나게 하시되 그들을 위하여 바위에서 물이 흘러나게 하셨으며, 그가 또한 바위를 가른즉 물이 솟아 나왔느니라. And they thirsted not; he led them through the deserts; he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them; he clave the rock also and the waters gushed out.
니전 20:22 그가 이 모두를 행하셨고 더 큰 일도 행하셨으나, 주께서 말씀하시기를 악인에게는 평강이 없다 하시느니라. And notwithstanding he hath done all this, and greater also, there is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.
