소개 온 인류가 한 언어를 사용하였음. 바벨탑을 건설. 주께서 그들의 언어를 혼란시키고 온 땅에 흩으심. 셈의 후손들중 아브람이 우르를 떠나 하란에 도착. All men speak the same language—They build tower of Babel—The Lord confounds their language and scatters them over all the earth—The generations of Shem include Abram whose wife was Sarai—Abram leaves Ur and settles Haran.
창 11:1 온 땅의 언어가 하나요 말이 하나였더라 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
창 11:2 이에 그들이 동방으로 옮기다가 시날 평지를 만나 거기 거류하며 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
창 11:3 서로 말하되 자, 벽돌을 만들어 견고히 굽자 하고 이에 벽돌로 돌을 대신하며 역청으로 진흙을 대신하고 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
창 11:4 또 말하되 자, 성읍과 탑을 건설하여 그 탑 꼭대기를 하늘에 닿게 하여 우리 이름을 내고 온 지면에 흩어짐을 면하자 하였더니 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
창 11:5 여호와께서 사람들이 건설하는 그 성읍과 탑을 보려고 내려오셨더라 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
창 11:6 여호와께서 이르시되 이 무리가 한 족속이요 언어도 하나이므로 이같이 시작하였으니 이 후로는 그 하고자 하는 일을 막을 수 없으리로다 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
창 11:7 자, 우리가 내려가서 거기서 그들의 언어를 혼잡하게 하여 그들이 서로 알아듣지 못하게 하자 하시고 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
창 11:8 여호와께서 거기서 그들을 온 지면에 흩으셨으므로 그들이 그 도시를 건설하기를 그쳤더라 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
창 11:9 그러므로 그 이름을 바벨이라 하니 이는 여호와께서 거기서 온 땅의 언어를 혼잡하게 하셨음이니라 여호와께서 거기서 그들을 온 지면에 흩으셨더라 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
창 11:10 셈의 족보는 이러하니라 셈은 백 세 곧 홍수 후 이 년에 아르박삿을 낳았고 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:
창 11:11 아르박삿을 낳은 후에 오백 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며 And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
창 11:12 아르박삿은 삼십오 세에 셀라를 낳았고 And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:
창 11:13 셀라를 낳은 후에 사백삼 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며 And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
창 11:14 셀라는 삼십 세에 에벨을 낳았고 And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:
창 11:15 에벨을 낳은 후에 사백삼 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며 And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
창 11:16 에벨은 삼십사 세에 벨렉을 낳았고 And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:
창 11:17 벨렉을 낳은 후에 사백삼십 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며 And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.
창 11:18 벨렉은 삼십 세에 르우를 낳았고 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
창 11:19 르우를 낳은 후에 이백구 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며 And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.
창 11:20 르우는 삼십이 세에 스룩을 낳았고 And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:
창 11:21 스룩을 낳은 후에 이백칠 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며 And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.
창 11:22 스룩은 삼십 세에 나홀을 낳았고 And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:
창 11:23 나홀을 낳은 후에 이백 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며 And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
창 11:24 나홀은 이십구 세에 데라를 낳았고 And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:
창 11:25 데라를 낳은 후에 백십구 년을 지내며 자녀를 낳았으며 And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.
창 11:26 데라는 칠십 세에 아브람과 나홀과 하란을 낳았더라 And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
창 11:27 데라의 족보는 이러하니라 데라는 아브람과 나홀과 하란을 낳고 하란은 롯을 낳았으며 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
창 11:28 하란은 그 아비 데라보다 먼저 고향 갈대아인의 우르에서 죽었더라 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
창 11:29 아브람과 나홀이 장가 들었으니 아브람의 아내의 이름은 사래며 나홀의 아내의 이름은 밀가니 하란의 딸이요 하란은 밀가의 아버지이며 또 이스가의 아버지더라 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
창 11:30 사래는 임신하지 못하므로 자식이 없었더라 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
창 11:31 데라가 그 아들 아브람과 하란의 아들인 그의 손자 롯과 그의 며느리 아브람의 아내 사래를 데리고 갈대아인의 우르를 떠나 가나안 땅으로 가고자 하더니 하란에 이르러 거기 거류하였으며 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
창 11:32 데라는 나이가 이백오 세가 되어 하란에서 죽었더라 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
