  9:2.주님께서는 오머에게 자비를 베푸시며 또한 오머의 멸망을 꾀하지 아니한 오머의 아들과 딸들에게 자비를 베푸시었으니,

 And the Lord warned Omer in a dream that he should depart out of the land; wherefore Omer departed out of the land with his family, and traveled many days, and came over and passed by the hill of Shim, and came over by the place where the Nephites were destroyed, and from thence eastward, and came to a place which was called Ablom, by the seashore, and there he pitched his tent, and also his sons and his daughters, and all his household, save it were Jared and his family.  9:3.주님께서 꿈에 오머에게 경고하사 그 땅을 떠나라 하신지라, 오머가 그의 가족을 거느리고 그 땅을 떠나 여러 날을 여행한 후, 시므산 옆을 지나 니파이인들이 멸망된 곳으로 나아와 그 곳으로부터 동쪽으로 여행하여 해변에 있는 애블롬이라 하는 곳에 이르러 천막을 치매, 그의 아들과 딸과, 그밖에 야렛과 그 가족을 제외한 온갖 권속이 그 곳에 천막을 쳤느니라.

 And it came to pass that Akish begat other sons, and they won the hearts of the people, notwithstanding they had sworn unto him to do all manner of iniquity according to that which he desired.  9:10.에이키시가 그 뒤로 또 아들들을 낳으매 그 부친의 명을 좇아 온갖 간악한 짓을 다하기로 맹세하였으면서도 백성들의 환심을 샀더라.

 Now the people of Akish were desirous for gain, even as Akish was desirous for power; wherefore, the sons of Akish did offer them money, by which means they drew away the more part of the people after them.  9:11.또한 에이키시의 백성들은 마치 에이키시가 권력을 탐하듯, 다투어 사욕을 채우려 하였고, 에이키시의 아들들이 백성들에게 돈을 주어 태반을 저들의 편으로 끌어가매,

 And there began to be a war between the sons of Akish and Akish, which lasted for the space of many years, yea, unto the destruction of nearly all the people of the kingdom, yea, even all, save it were thirty souls, and they who fled with the house of Omer.  9:12.에이키시와 그의 아들들간에 싸움이 벌어져 여러 해를 두고 싸우는 동안, 그 나라의 백성들은 거의 모두 멸망당하여, 오머의 권속들과 그에게로 도망한 자들 외에 삼십명이 남았을 뿐이었으므로,

 And it came to pass that Omer began to be old; nevertheless, in his old age he begat Emer; and he anointed Emer to be king to reign in his stead.  9:14.오머가 차차 노쇠하였으나 노년에 이머를 낳으매, 이머에게 기름을 부어 왕에 명하여 자기 뒤를 이어 다스리게 하였고,
이더 9:15 또 이머에게 기름을 부어 왕이 되게 한 후에 그가 이 년 동안 그 땅에 평화를 보고 죽었으니, 그가 심히 많은 날을 보았어도, 그 날들은 슬픔에 찬 날들이었더라. 그리고 이렇게 되었나니 이머가 그의 대신에 다스리며 그 부친의 발자취를 따르더라.

 

 And after that he had anointed Emer to be king he saw peace in the land for the space of two years, and he died, having seen exceedingly many days, which were full of sorrow. And it came to pass that Emer did reign in his stead, and did fill the steps of his father.  9:15.이머에게 기름을 부어 왕위에 앉힌 후 여러날을 지극한 슬픔에 싸여 지내다가 비로소 이년 동안 이머가 평화롭게 나라를 다스리는 것을 보고 죽었으며 이머는 그 부친의 뒤를 이어 다스리면서 그 부친이 행한 바를 좇아 다스렸으니,

 And the Lord began again to take the curse from off the land, and the house of Emer did prosper exceedingly under the reign of Emer; and in the space of sixty and two years they had become exceedingly strong, insomuch that they became exceedingly rich-  9:16.이에 주님께서 또다시 그 땅에서 저주를 거두시매 이머의 백성들은 이머가 다스리는 중에 심히 번영하였으며, 육십 이년을 지나면서 크게 강대해 지며 또한 크게 부하게 되어,

Having all manner of fruit, and of grain, and of silks, and of fine linen, and of gold, and of silver, and of precious things;

과일 fruit : 니전17:5, 6, 18:6에서는 '과실'로 번역되었으나, 니전8:1, 이노1:21, 모사10:4, 이더9:17에서는 '과일'이라 번역되었다.

비유로써의 fruit은 '열매'로 많이 번역이 되었고, 식량으로서의 fruit은 '과일' 및 '과실'로 번역이 되었다.

  9:17.온갖 종류의 과일과 곡식과 비단과 훌륭한 세마포와 금은 등 귀중한 보물을 갖게 되었고,
이더 9:18 또한 온갖 축우, 곧 황소와 암소와 양과 돼지와 염소와 또한 사람의 식용으로 쓸 여러 다른 종류의 짐승을 갖게 되었더라.

 

 And also all manner of cattle, of oxen, and cows, and of sheep, and of swine, and of goats, and also many other kinds of animals which were useful for the food of man.  9:18.또한 온갖 종류의 가축, 곧 황소, 암소, 양, 돼지, 염소 등 식육으로 쓸만한 여러 종류의 짐승을 길렀으며,
이더 9:19 그리고 그들에게는 또한 말과 나귀도 있었으며, 거기 코끼리와 쿠렐롬과 쿠몸도 있었으니, 이 모두는 사람에게 유용한 것이요, 특히 코끼리와 쿠렐롬과 쿠몸이 더욱 그러하였더라.

 

 And they also had horses, and asses, and there were elephants and cureloms and cumoms; all of which were useful unto man, and more especially the elephants and cureloms and cumoms.  9:19.말과 나귀와 코끼리와 구렐롬과 쿠몸을 길렀으니, 이는 모두 사람에게 유용한 동물이요 그 중에도 특히 코끼리와 쿠렐롬과 쿠몸은 더욱 유용하였더라.
이더 9:20 이에 이와 같이 주께서는 다른 모든 땅 위에 뛰어난 이 땅에 그의 복을 부으셨고, 그는 또 명하시기를, 누구든지 이 땅을 소유하는 자는 주를 위하여 이를 소유할 지니라 하셨나니, 그렇지 아니하면 그들의 죄악이 무르익을 때 그들이 멸망되리라. 이는 그러한 자들 위에 내가 나의 가득한 진노를 쏟을 것임이니라 주께서 말씀하시느니라.

 

 And thus the Lord did pour out his blessings upon this land, which was choice above all other lands; and he commanded that whoso should possess the land should possess it unto the Lord, or they should be destroyed when they were ripened in iniquity; for upon such, saith the Lord: I will pour out the fulness of my wrath.  9:20.이와 같이 모든 땅 가운데서 으뜸가는 땅에 주가 다시 그의 축복을 부으시며, 명하사 누구든지 땅을 소유하는 자는 땅을 소유하되 주 앞에 맡기라 하시었고, 그렇지 아니하면 죄가 므르익을 때 멸망되리라 하시며 그러한 자들에 대하여 이르시기를 내가 나의 가득찬 진노를 너희 위에 부으리라 하시니라.
이더 9:21 이에 이머가 그의 평생에 공의로 판단하고, 많은 아들과 딸을 낳았으며, 그가 코리앤툼을 낳아 코리앤툼에게 기름을 부어 자기의 대신에 다스리게 하였더라.

 

 And Emer did execute judgment in righteousness all his days, and he begat many sons and daughters; and he begat Coriantum, and he anointed Coriantum to reign in his stead.  9:21.이머는 평생을 의로움으로 다스리며 많은 아들과 딸을 낳았고, 코리앤툼이라 하는 아들을 낳아 코리앤툼에게 기름을 부어 자기 뒤를 잇게 하였으며,
이더 9:22 그리고 그가 코리앤툼에게 기름을 부어 자기의 대신에 다스리게 한 뒤 사 년을 살며, 그 땅에 평화를 보았고, 또한 그가 참으로 의의 아들을 보고, 그의 날을 기뻐하며 영광스러워 하기까지 하였으며, 이에 그가 평안히 죽었더라.

 

 And after he had anointed Coriantum to reign in his stead he lived four years, and he saw peace in the land; yea, and he even saw the Son of Righteousness, and did rejoice and glory in his day; and he died in peace.  9:22.코리앤툼에게 기름을 부어 자기 뒤를 잇게 한 뒤 사년을 더 지나서 땅이 평화로움을 보았고, 의의 아들을 보았으며 평생에 영광과 기쁨을 누리다가 화평한 중에 죽었더라.
이더 9:23 또 이렇게 되었나니 코리앤툼이 그 부친의 발자취를 따르며, 많은 큰 성읍들을 건축하였고, 그의 평생에 백성에게 선한 바를 베풀었으나, 이렇게 되었나니 그가 심히 나이 많기까지 자녀가 없었더라.

 

 And it came to pass that Coriantum did walk in the steps of his father, and did build many mighty cities, and did administer that which was good unto his people in all his days. And it came to pass that he had no children even until he was exceedingly old.  9:23.코리앤툼은 그 부친이 행한 바를 좇아 행하면서 많은 성읍을 지었고, 평생를 두고 백성들에게 선한 것을 베풀었으나, 노년에 이르도록 슬하에 손이 없더니,
이더 9:24 그리고 이렇게 되었나니 그의 아내가 백이 세가 되어 죽은지라. 이에 이렇게 되었나니 코리앤툼이 그의 노년에 한 젊은 여자를 아내로 취하여 아들과 딸을 낳은지라, 이리하여 그가 백 사십이 세가 되기까지 살았더라.

 

 And it came to pass that his wife died, being an hundred and two years old. And it came to pass that Coriantum took to wife, in his old age, a young maid, and begat sons and daughters; wherefore he lived until he was an hundred and forty and two years old.  9:24.그의 아내가 백 두살을 살고 죽으매, 코리앤툼이 노년에도 젊은 여자를 아내로 맞아 아들과 딸을 낳으면서 백 사십 이세를 살았더라.
이더 9:25 또 이렇게 되었나니 그가 콤을 낳으매, 콤이 그의 대신에 다스렸고, 저가 사십구 년을 다스렸으며, 저가 헷을 낳았고 또한 다른 아들과 딸들도 낳았더라.

 

 And it came to pass that he begat Com, and Com reigned in his stead; and he reigned forty and nine years, and he begat Heth; and he also begat other sons and daughters.  9:25.저가 곰을 낳으매 곰이 그 뒤를 이어 다스렸고, 저가 사십 구년을 다스리고 나서 헷을 낳았으며, 또한 아들과 딸을 낳았더라.
이더 9:26 이에 백성들은 다시 온 지면에 퍼졌고, 땅 위에는 또다시 심히 큰 간악함이 생겼으며, 헷은 그의 부친을 멸하기 위하여 다시 옛적의 은밀한 계획을 받아들이기 시작하였더라.

 

 And the people had spread again over all the face of the land, and there began again to be an exceedingly great wickedness upon the face of the land, and Heth began to embrace the secret plans again of old, to destroy his father.  9:26.그리하여 백성들은 다시 온 땅에 퍼져 살게 되고 땅에는 또다시 간악함이 크게 뒤덮히기 시작하더니, 헷이 옛 사람들의 비밀 음모를 꾸며 그의 부친을 죽이려 하였고,
이더 9:27 이에 이렇게 되었나니 저가 자기 부친의 왕위를 폐하였으니, 이는 저가 자기 칼로 그를 죽이고 그의 대신에 다스렸음이라.

 

 And it came to pass that he did dethrone his father, for he slew him with his own sword; and he did reign in his stead.  9:27.마침내 자기 부친의 왕위를 빼앗고자 제 칼로 부친을 살해한 후에 그 뒤를 이어 다스렸더라.
이더 9:28 이에 그 땅에 다시 선지자들이 나타나 그들에게 회개를 부르짖되 - 그들이 주의 길을 예비하여야 하며 그렇지 아니하면 저주가 그 땅 위에 임할 것이라. 참으로 한 큰 기근이 있으리니, 그들이 회개하지 아니하면 그 중에 멸망당할 것이라 하였더라.

 

 And there came prophets in the land again, crying repentance unto them-that they must prepare the way of the Lord or there should come a curse upon the face of the land; yea, even there should be a great famine, in which they should be destroyed if they did not repent.  9:28.이에 그 땅에 또다시 선지자가 임하여 백성들에게 회개를 부르짖고 주의 길을 준비하게 하며 그렇지 아니하면 저주가 온 땅을 치리라 하였고, 참으로 저들이 회개하지 아니하면 큰 기근이 있어 저들이 멸망당하리라 하였으나,
이더 9:29 그러나 백성들이 선지자들의 말을 믿지 아니하고, 저들을 쫓아내며, 저들 가운데 더러는 구덩이에 던져 넣어 죽게 버려 두었더라. 또 이렇게 되었나니 그들은 헷 왕의 명을 좇아 이 모든 일을 행하였더라.

 

But the people believed not the words of the prophets, but they cast them out; and some of them they cast into pits and left them to perish. And it came to pass that they did all these things according to the commandment of the king, Heth.

이더 9:30 이에 이렇게 되었나니 그 땅에 큰 흉년이 들기 시작하였고, 흉년으로 인하여 주민들이 심히 빠르게 멸망당하기 시작하였으니, 이는 지면에 비가 있지 아니함이러라.

 

 And it came to pass that there began to be a great dearth upon the land, and the inhabitants began to be destroyed exceedingly fast because of the dearth, for there was no rain upon the face of the earth.  9:30.이에 그 땅에 크게 흉년이 들더니 비가 전혀 내리지 아니하여 흉년이 계속되매, 주민들이 급작스레 죽어 갔고,
이더 9:31 또 땅 위에 독사들도 나아와 많은 사람들을 물었더라. 이에 이렇게 되었나니 저희의 양 떼가 독사들 앞에서, 니파이인들이 제이라헤믈라라 칭하는 남방 땅을 향하여 도망하기 시작하였더라.

 

 And there came forth poisonous serpents also upon the face of the land, and did poison many people. And it came to pass that their flocks began to flee before the poisonous serpents, towards the land southward, which was called by the Nephites Zarahemla.  9:31.독이 많은 독사들이 땅에 나타나 많은 사람들을 독살하였으며, 가축들은 독사들을 피하여 남쪽 땅인, 니파이인들이 일컬어 제이라헤믈라라한 땅으로 달아났으며,
이더 9:32 또 이렇게 되었나니 그것들 가운데 도중에 죽은 것이 많았으나, 그럼에도 남방 땅까지 도망한 것들이 더러 있었더라.

 

 And it came to pass that there were many of them which did perish by the way; nevertheless, there were some which fled into the land southward.  9:32.달아나는 도중에 많이 죽기는 하였으되 더러는 남방 땅에까지 달아 났더라.
이더 9:33 이에 이렇게 되었나니 주께서 뱀들로 그것들을 더 이상 뒤쫓지 않게 하시고, 다만 길을 막아 백성들이 지나다니지 못하게 하시고, 누구든지 지나가기를 꾀하는 자들은 독사에게 물려 엎드러지게 하셨더라.

 

 And it came to pass that the Lord did cause the serpents that they should pursue them no more, but that they should hedge up the way that the people could not pass, that whoso should attempt to pass might fall by the poisonous serpents.  9:33.이에 주는 독사들로 그 이상 뒤쫓지 않게 하시고 다만 길을 가로막아 사람들이 지나지 못하게 하시었고, 그 곳을 빠져 나가려 하는 자들은 독사에게 물려 죽게 하시니라.
이더 9:34 또 이렇게 되었나니 백성들이 짐승들이 지나간 길을 따라가며, 도중에 쓰러진 것들의 시체를 먹되, 이윽고 그것들을 다 먹기까지 그리하였더라. 이제 백성들은 자기들이 반드시 멸망하게 되었음을 보고 자기들의 죄악을 회개하며 주께 부르짖기 시작하였더라.

 

 And it came to pass that the people did follow the course of the beasts, and did devour the carcasses of them which fell by the way, until they had devoured them all. Now when the people saw that they must perish they began to repent of their iniquities and cry unto the Lord.  9:34.사람들은 차차 들짐승들이 지난 길을 뒤따라가며 도중에 죽어 넘어진 가축들을 하나도 남기지 아니하고 다 먹어 버렸고, 저희가 멸망을 모면하지 못하게 된 것을 보고서야 저들의 간악함을 뉘우치기 시작하여 주님께 간곡히 간구하니라.
이더 9:35 이에 이렇게 되었나니 그들이 주 앞에 충분히 스스로 겸손하였을 때 주께서 지면에 비를 내리시니, 백성들이 다시 소생하기 시작하였고, 북쪽 지방과 그 주변의 모든 지방에 소산이 열리기 시작하였으며, 주께서는 그들을 기근으로부터 보전하심으로 그의 권능을 그들에게 보이셨더라.

 

 And it came to pass that when they had humbled themselves sufficiently before the Lord he did send rain upon the face of the earth; and the people began to revive again, and there began to be fruit in the north countries, and in all the countries round about. And the Lord did show forth his power unto them in preserving them from famine.  9:35.이같이 저들이 주 앞에 겸손해져서 주가 보시기에 합당하게 되매 땅에 비를 주시니, 백성들은 다시 살아나게 되었고, 북쪽 땅과 그 주변의 모든 땅에 과일이 맺히기 시작하니라. 이와 같이 주님은 백성들을 기근에서 구하사 그 권세를 저들에게 보이시니라.
