 And it came to pass that when the sixty and second year of the reign of the judges had ended, all these things had happened and the Lamanites had become, the more part of them, a righteous people, insomuch that their righteousness did exceed that of the Nephites, because of their firmness and their steadiness in the faith.  6:1.판사치세 육십 이년이 끝났을 때에 이 모든 일이 일어나, 레이맨인들은 대부분 의로운 백성이 되어 이들의 신앙의 굳건함과 성실함이 니파이인들보다도 뛰어났으니,

 For behold, there were many of the Nephites who had become hardened and impenitent and grossly wicked, insomuch that they did reject the word of God and all the preaching and prophesying which did come among them.  6:2.보라 많은 니파이인들이 강퍅하여 뉘우칠 줄 모르며 심히 완악하게 되어, 하나님의 말씀을 거역하며 저들에게 전해지는 온갖 예언과 복음의 말씀을 거부하였으나,

 Nevertheless, the people of the church did have great joy because of the conversion of the Lamanites, yea, because of the church of God, which had been established among them. And they did fellowship one with another, and did rejoice one with another, and did have great joy.  6:3.이러한 중에도 교회에 속한 백성들은 레이맨인들의 개심과 저들 가운데 하나님의 교회가 세워짐을 크게 기뻐하였고, 서로 서로 친밀하여 기쁨을 나누며 심히 즐거워하였으며,
힐 6:4 또 이렇게 되었나니 많은 레이맨인들이 제이라헤믈라 땅에 내려와, 니파이인들에게 그들의 돌이킨 경위를 선포하며, 그들에게 신앙과 회개를 권면하였더라.

 

 And it came to pass that many of the Lamanites did come down into the land of Zarahemla, and did declare unto the people of the Nephites the manner of their conversion, and did exhort them to faith and repentance.  6:4.많은 레이맨인들이 제이라헤믈라 땅에 내려와 니파이인들에게 저들의 개심한 경위를 전하며 신앙을 가져 회개하기를 권고하였으며,

 Yea, and many did preach with exceedingly great power and authority, unto the bringing down many of them into the depths of humility, to be the humble followers of God and the Lamb.  6:5.참으로 많은 자가 큰 권위와 권능으로 전파하고 가르쳐, 많은 무리를 지극히 겸손하게 하며 하나님과 어린양을 좇는 겸손한 자가 되게 하니라.
힐 6:6 또 이렇게 되었나니 많은 레이맨인들이 북방 땅에 들어갔고, 또한 니파이와 리하이도 백성에게 전파하러 북방 땅에 들어갔더라. 이에 이같이 제육십삼년이 끝났느니라.

 

 And it came to pass that many of the Lamanites did go into the land northward; and also Nephi and Lehi went into the land northward, to preach unto the people. And thus ended the sixty and third year.  6:6.많은 레이맨인들이 북쪽 땅으로도 나아갔고, 니파이와 리하이도 백성들에게 복음을 전파하러 북쪽 땅으로 나아갔으니, 이같이 하여 판사치세 육십 삼년이 끝나니라.
힐 6:7 또 보라, 온 땅에 평화가 있어, 니파이인들은 니파이인이나 레이맨인 가운데를 가리지 않고 어디든지 그 원하는 지역으로 다녔더라.

 

 And behold, there was peace in all the land, insomuch that the Nephites did go into whatsoever part of the land they would, whether among the Nephites or the Lamanites.  6:7.보라 온 땅에 평화가 가득하여, 니파이인들은 저희들이 가고 싶은대로 니파이인들이 있는 곳이나 레이맨인들이 있는 곳이나 마음대로 통행하였고,
힐 6:8 또 이렇게 되었나니 레이맨인들도 니파이인 가운데나 레이맨인 가운데나를 가리지 않고 어디로든지 그 원하는 곳으로 다녔고, 그들은 서로 자유로이 교류를 가지며 마음대로 사고팔며 이익을 얻었더라.

 

 And it came to pass that the Lamanites did also go whithersoever they would, whether it were among the Lamanites or among the Nephites; and thus they did have free intercourse one with another, to buy and to sell, and to get gain, according to their desire.  6:8.레이맨인들도 저희들 뜻대로 레이맨인들이 있는 곳이나 니파이인들 가운데로 자유로이 왕래하면서, 서로 서로 자유롭게 교제하며 마음대로 물건을 사고 팔아 이득을 얻었으며,

 And it came to pass that they became exceedingly rich, both the Lamanites and the Nephites; and they did have an exceeding plenty of gold, and of silver, and of all manner of precious metals, both in the land south and in the land north.  6:9.레이맨인이나 니파이인이 모두 크게 부하게 되어, 남방이나 북방을 막론하고 금, 은, 그리고 온갖 진귀한 금속들을 풍성하게 지니게 되었으며,

 Now the land south was called Lehi and the land north was called Mulek, which was after the son of Zedekiah; for the Lord did bring Mulek into the land north, and Lehi into the land south.  6:10.주가 뮬레크를 북방에, 리하이는 남방에 데려오셨다 하여 남쪽 땅을 리하이라 일컬었고, 북쪽땅을 시드기아의 아들의 이름을 따서 뮬레크라 하였으니,
힐 6:11 또 보라, 이 두 땅에 각종 온갖 금과 은과 귀한 광물이 있었고, 또 정교한 장인들이 있어 온갖 광물을 다루며 이를 정련하였으니, 이러므로 그들이 부하게 되니라.

 

 And behold, there was all manner of gold in both these lands, and of silver, and of precious ore of every kind; and there were also curious workmen, who did work all kinds of ore and did refine it; and thus they did become rich.  6:11.보라 이 두 지방에 온갖 금, 은 등 진귀한 금속이 났고, 이 온갖 광물을 제련하고 세공하는 기술이 뛰어나 모두 부하게 되었고,
힐 6:12 그들은 북쪽과 남쪽에서 모두 곡물을 풍성하게 재배하였더라. 또한 그들은 북쪽과 남쪽에서 모두 심히 창성하였더라. 이에 그들은 땅에서 번성하고 점차 심히 강하게 되었더라. 또한 그들은 양 떼와 소 떼와 살진 짐승들을 많이 길렀더라.

 

 They did raise grain in abundance, both in the north and in the south; and they did flourish exceedingly, both in the north and in the south. And they did multiply and wax exceedingly strong in the land. And they did raise many flocks and herds, yea, many fatlings.  6:12.남방과 북방에서 모두 곡식을 풍성하게 거두었으며, 남방과 북방이 다 같이 크게 번영하였고, 인구가 불어 땅에서 굳게 단합하였으며, 양과 소와 살찐 가축들을 많이 길렀더라.
힐 6:13 보라 그들의 여자들은 수고하고 길쌈하여, 온갖 옷감 곧 세마포와 각종 옷감을 지어, 그들의 벌거벗음을 가리웠더라. 이같이 제육십사년이 평화로운 가운데 지나가니라.

 

 Behold their women did toil and spin, and did make all manner of cloth, of fine-twined linen and cloth of every kind, to clothe their nakedness. And thus the sixty and fourth year did pass away in peace.  6:13.보라 부녀자들은 길쌈으로 수고하여 훌륭한 세마포와 온갖 천을 짜서 여러가지 의복을 만들어 벗은 몸을 가리니라. 치세 육십 사년이 이토록 평화로운 가운데 지나더라.
힐 6:14 또 제육십오년에도 그들에게 큰 기쁨과 평화가 있었나니, 참으로 장차 임할 일에 관하여 가르치는 일과 예언이 많이 있었더라. 이같이 제육십오년이 지나가니라.

 

 And in the sixty and fifth year they did also have great joy and peace, yea, much preaching and many prophecies concerning that which was to come. And thus passed away the sixty and fifth year.  6:14.치세 육십 오년에도 크게 기쁨과 평화를 누렸고, 장차 이를 많은 예언의 말씀을 전하여 가르치는 가운데 육십 오년이 지났고,
힐 6:15 그리고 이렇게 되었나니 판사 치세 제육십육년에, 보라, 시조램이 판사석에 앉았을 때 정체불명의 손에 살해당하였더라. 또 이렇게 되었나니 같은 해에, 백성들에 의해 그의 대신 임명되었던 그의 아들 역시 살해되었더라. 이같이 제육십육년이 끝났느니라.

 

 And it came to pass that in the sixty and sixth year of the reign of the judges, behold, Cezoram was murdered by an unknown hand as he sat upon the judgment-seat. And it came to pass that in the same year, that his son, who had been appointed by the people in his stead, was also murdered. And thus ended the sixty and sixth year.  6:15.판사치세 육십 육년에 이르러, 보라 시조램이 판사석에서 정체불명의 손에 살해되었고, 그 뒤를 이어 판사직에 임명되었던 그 아들도 역시 같은 해에 살해되었으니, 치세 육십 육년이 이같이 저물었고,
힐 6:16 그리고 제육십칠년 초에 백성들이 다시 심히 간악해지기 시작하였더라.

 

 And in the commencement of the sixty and seventh year the people began to grow exceedingly wicked again.  6:16.육십 칠년이 시작되면서 백성들이 다시 크게 완악해졌으니,
힐 6:17 이는 보라, 주께서 세상의 부로 그들을 그처럼 오래 축복하신지라. 그들이 충동함을 받아 분노와 전쟁과 유혈에 이르지는 아니하였으나, 이로 말미암아 그들이 그 마음을 저희의 부에 두기 시작하였음이라. 참으로 그들은 서로 남보다 높아지고자 이익 얻기를 구하기 시작하였나니, 그러므로 그들이 이익을 얻고자 은밀한 살인을 범하며, 도적질하며, 약탈하기를 시작하였더라.

 

 For behold, the Lord had blessed them so long with the riches of the world that they had not been stirred up to anger, to wars, nor to bloodshed; therefore they began to set their hearts upon their riches; yea, they began to seek to get gain that they might be lifted up one above another; therefore they began to commit secret murders, and to rob and to plunder, that they might get gain.  6:17.보라 주께서 저들을 오래도록 세상의 재물로 축복하시매, 서로 노여움을 품거나 전쟁을 일으키거나 유혈을 초래치는 아니하였으나, 마음을 재물에 두고 재물을 남보다 더 얻어 더욱 뽐내려 하기 시작한지라, 재물을 얻고자 남모르게 살인하고 도둑질하며 약탈을 감행하였느니라.
힐 6:18 또 이제 보라, 살인자와 약탈자들은 키시쿠멘과 개다이앤톤이 조직한 무리였더라. 또 이제 이렇게 되었었나니 니파이인들 가운데에도 개다이앤톤의 무리에 속한 자가 많았더라. 그러나 보라, 이 같은 무리들은 보다 간악한 레이맨인들 가운데 더 많았느니라. 또한 그들은 개다이앤톤의 도적과 살인자들이라 일컬어졌더라.

 

 And now behold, those murderers and plunderers were a band who had been formed by Kishkumen and Gadianton. And now it had come to pass that there were many, even among the Nephites, of Gadianton's band. But behold, they were more numerous among the more wicked part of the Lamanites. And they were called Gadianton's robbers and murderers.  6:18.이제 보라 이들 살인을 일삼고 약탈하는 자들은 키시쿠멘과 개다이앤톤이 조직한 무리에 속한 자들이었으며, 니파이인 가운데도 개다이앤톤의 무리가 많았으나, 보라 완악한 레이맨인들의 무리 가운데 더욱 많았으며 이들은 개다이앤톤 살인 강도단이라 일컬어졌고,
힐 6:19 또 판사석에 있는 대판사 시조램과 그의 아들을 살해하였던 무리가 바로 그들이었으나, 보라, 그들은 발각되지 아니하였더라.

 

 And it was they who did murder the chief judge Cezoram, and his son, while in the judgment-seat; and behold, they were not found.  6:19.대판사 시조램과 그의 아들이 판사직을 수행할 때, 살해한 자도 이 무리에 속한 자였으되, 보라 발각되지 아니하였느니라.
힐 6:20 또 이제 이렇게 되었나니 레이맨인들은 자기들 가운데 도적들이 있음을 알고 심히 슬퍼하여, 그 힘이 미치는 모든 수단을 강구하여 그들을 지면에서 멸하려 하였더라.

 

 And now it came to pass that when the Lamanites found that there were robbers among them they were exceedingly sorrowful; and they did use every means in their power to destroy them off the face of the earth.  6:20.이에 레이맨인들은 저들 가운데 도적들이 있음을 알아 심히 슬퍼하였고, 힘을 다하여 도적의 무리를 지면에서 멸종하려 하였으나,
힐 6:21 그러나 보라, 사탄이 대부분의 니파이인의 마음을 충동한지라. 그들은 저 도적단과 연합하고 저들의 언약과 저들의 맹세에 가담하였으니, 저들의 살인과 저들의 약탈과 저들의 도적질로 말미암아 저들이 고난을 당하지 않도록 무릇 어떠한 어려운 처지에 놓이더라도 서로 보호하고 보전하겠다고 하는 것이었더라.

 

 But behold, Satan did stir up the hearts of the more part of the Nephites, insomuch that they did unite with those bands of robbers, and did enter into their covenants and their oaths, that they would protect and preserve one another in whatsoever difficult circumstances they should be placed, that they should not suffer for their murders, and their plunderings, and their stealings.  6:21.보라 사탄이 더욱 많은 니파이인들의 마음을 사로잡아 책동하는지라, 이들이 도적단에 가입하여 저들이 어떠한 어려운 처지에 놓이게 되든지 서로 돕고 보호하여, 살인하고 약탈하고 훔치는 일로 서로 어려움을 당하지 않게 하기로 하는 서약을 맺고 맹세하였으며,
힐 6:22 또 이렇게 되었나니 그들은 그들의 표시, 곧 그들의 은밀한 표시와 그들의 은밀한 말을 가지고 있었으니, 이는 언약에 가입한 형제를 식별하여, 그의 형제가 여하한 간악함을 행할지라도 그의 형제에 의해, 또는 그의 무리에 속하여 이 언약을 맺은 자들에 의해 해를 받지 않게 하려 함이었더라.

 

 And it came to pass that they did have their signs, yea, their secret signs, and their secret words; and this that they might distinguish a brother who had entered into the covenant, that whatsoever wickedness his brother should do he should not be injured by his brother, nor by those who did belong to his band, who had taken this covenant.  6:22.비밀 암호와 비밀 언어를 만들어 가졌으니, 이러한 수단으로 맹약한 동지를 알아볼 수 있게 하려 함이요, 저들이 여하한 악행을 자행하는 때라도 그 동료 곧 맹약을 나누고 그 무리에 속하게 된 자들에게 해를 입지 않게 하려 함이었으니,
힐 6:23 또한 이리하여 그들 나라의 법과 또한 그들 하나님의 율법에 반하여, 살인하며, 약탈하며, 훔치며, 음행과 온갖 간악함을 범하려 함이었더라.

 

 And thus they might murder, and plunder, and steal, and commit whoredoms and all manner of wickedness, contrary to the laws of their country and also the laws of their God.  6:23.이같이 저들은 살인과 약탈과 도둑질을 자행하며, 국법과 또한 하나님의 율법에 어긋나는 온갖 간악한 행위와 음행을 범하였고,
힐 6:24 또 누구든지 그들 무리에 속한 자로서 무릇 그들의 간악함과 그들의 가증함에 대하여 세상에 누설하는 자는 재판을 받게 하였으니, 그들 나라의 법에 따라서가 아니요 개다이앤톤과 키시쿠멘이 주었던 그들의 간악함의 법에 따라서라.

 

 And whosoever of those who belonged to their band should reveal unto the world of their wickedness and their abominations, should be tried, not according to the laws of their country, but according to the laws of their wickedness, which had been given by Gadianton and Kishkumen.  6:24.무리에 속한 자로서 저들의 간악함과 가증함을 세상에 폭로하는 자는 재판을 받았으니 나라의 법으로서가 아니요, 개다이앤톤과 키시쿠멘이 정한 간악한 법으로 처형되더라.
힐 6:25 이제 보라, 백성을 멸망으로 끌어내리는 수단이 될까 하여, 앨마가 그의 아들에게 명하여 세상에 나아가게 말라 한 것이 이 은밀한 맹세와 언약들이라.

 

 Now behold, it is these secret oaths and covenants which Alma commanded his son should not go forth unto the world, lest they should be a means of bringing down the people unto destruction.  6:25.보라 이러한 비밀 맹세와 언약에 관한 것이 앨마가 그의 아들들에게 명하여 세상에 드러내지 말라 한 그것이요, 이러한 것들이 필경 백성들을 멸망으로 몰아 넣을 것이매 이를 염려하였던 것이라.
힐 6:26 이제 보라, 그 은밀한 맹세와 언약들은 힐라맨에게 전달된 기록으로부터 개다이앤톤에게로 나아왔던 것이 아니요, 보라, 우리들의 시조를 꾀어 금단의 열매를 취하게 했던 바로 그 존재가 개다이앤톤의 마음에 넣었던 것이라 -

 

 Now behold, those secret oaths and covenants did not come forth unto Gadianton from the records which were delivered unto Helaman; but behold, they were put into the heart of Gadianton by that same being who did entice our first parents to partake of the forbidden fruit-  6:26.이제 보라, 이러한 맹약과 언약은 힐라맨에게 전해진 기록으로부터 개다이앤톤에게 전해진 것이 아니요, 보라 우리들의 첫 조상에게 금단의 열매를 따 먹게 한 자로 인하여 개다이앤톤의 마음에 깃들게 된 것이라.
힐 6:27 참으로 가인과 더불어 음모를 꾸미기를 그가 그 동생 아벨을 살해할지라도 그 일이 세상에 알려지지 아니하리라 하였던 바로 그 존재이니, 그때로부터 저가 가인과 그의 추종자들과 더불어 음모를 꾸몄느니라.

 

 Yea, that same being who did plot with Cain, that if he would murder his brother Abel it should not be known unto the world. And he did plot with Cain and his followers from that time forth.  6:27.참으로 개다이앤톤에게 이 일을 전한 자는 가인을 꾀어, 그의 동생 아벨을 해칠지라도 세상에 드러나지 않으리라 한 자라. 그때로부터 저가 가인과 그의 추종자들을 꾀어 왔고,
힐 6:28 또한 그는 백성들의 마음에 하늘에 이르기 위하여 탑을 높게 쌓으려는 생각을 넣은 바로 그 존재요, 또 그는 그 탑으로부터 이 땅에 왔던 백성을 미혹하였던 존재니, 이 온 땅 위에 어둠의 일과 가증한 일을 퍼뜨리기를 저가 백성을 완전한 멸망과 영원한 지옥으로 끌어내리기까지 한 바로 그 존재더라.

 

And also it is that same being who put it into the hearts of the people to build a tower sufficiently high that they might get to heaven. And it was that same being who led on the people who came from that tower into this land; who spread the works of darkness and abominations over all the face of the land, until he dragged the people down to an entire destruction, and to an everlasting hell.

sufficiently를 '족히' 로 번역한 곳은 몰몬경의 전체 16곳 가운데 4곳 뿐이다.  앨21:3, 앨56:24, 앨56:39, 3니7:12 등, 이 네 곳을 제외한 다른 곳에서는 모두 '충분히'로 번역되었으며 이곳에서는 번역되지 않았다.

 6:28.바로 이자가 사람들을 혹하게 하여, 탑을 높게 쌓아 올릴진대 하늘에 이를 수 있으리라 한 자요, 탑으로부터 이 땅에 온 백성들을 현혹한 자요, 온 지면에 어둡고 가증한 일을 퍼뜨려 마침내 백성들을 온전히 멸하여 영원한 지옥으로 이끌어 가려는 자라.
힐 6:29 참으로 이는 개다이앤톤의 마음에 여전히 어둠의 일과 은밀한 살인의 일을 계속하려는 생각을 넣은 바로 그 존재이니, 그는 인류의 시작부터 이때에 이르도록 그 일을 야기해 왔느니라.

 

 Yea, it is that same being who put it into the heart of Gadianton to still carry on the work of darkness, and of secret murder; and he has brought it forth from the beginning of man even down to this time.  6:29.이 자가 바로 개다이앤톤의 마음에 암흑의 일과 은밀한 살인을 하도록 한 자니, 인간의 시초부터 이때에 이르도록 이러한 일을 자행하여 온 자라.

 And behold, it is he who is the author of all sin. And behold, he doth carry on his works of darkness and secret murder, and doth hand down their plots, and their oaths, and their covenants, and their plans of awful wickedness, from generation to generation according as he can get hold upon the hearts of the children of men.  6:30.보라 이 자는 죄의 근원이 되는 자니, 보라 저는 어둠의 일과 은밀한 살인을 일삼으며, 힘을 다하여 인간의 마음을 사로잡아 음모와 맹약과 언약과 심히 가증한 죄악의 계획을 대대로 전한 자라.
힐 6:31 또 이제 보라, 그가 니파이인들의 마음을 크게 사로잡은지라. 참으로 그들이 심히 간악하게 되었나니, 참으로 그들의 대부분이 의의 길에서 돌아서 떠나고, 하나님의 계명을 저희 발 아래 짓밟고, 자기의 길로 돌아서며, 자기의 금과 자기의 은으로 자기를 위하여 우상을 지었도다.

 

 And now behold, he had got great hold upon the hearts of the Nephites; yea, insomuch that they had become exceedingly wicked; yea, the more part of them had turned out of the way of righteousness, and did trample under their feet the commandments of God, and did turn unto their own ways, and did build up unto themselves idols of their gold and their silver.  6:31.또 보라 저가 니파이인들의 마음을 사로잡으매 저들이 심히 간악하여져서, 많은 자들이 의를 버리며 하나님의 계명을 발아래 짓밟았고, 저희들 뜻대로 행하였으며 저들을 위하여 금과 은으로 우상을 지었느니라.
힐 6:32 또 이렇게 되었나니 이 모든 죄악이 여러 해가 되지 않아 그들에게 임하였나니, 그 대부분이 니파이 백성에 대한 판사 치세 제육십칠년에 그들에게 임하였더라.

 

 And it came to pass that all these iniquities did come unto them in the space of not many years, insomuch that a more part of it had come unto them in the sixty and seventh year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi.  6:32.이러한 간악한 사태가 불과 몇해 사이에 저들 가운데 벌어졌나니, 니파이 백성들의 판사치세 육십 칠년에 더욱 극심하여졌고,
힐 6:33 또 제육십팔년에도 그들의 죄악이 자라, 의인들이 크게 슬퍼하며 애통하기에 이르렀더라.

 

 And they did grow in their iniquities in the sixty and eighth year also, to the great sorrow and lamentation of the righteous.  6:33.간악함은 치세 육십 팔년에도 자라나기만 하였으니, 의로운 이들의 슬픔과 비통함이 끝이 없더라.
힐 6:34 이리하여 우리는 니파이인들이 점차 믿지 않음에 빠지며, 그 간악함과 가증함이 더욱 자라기 시작한 한편, 레이맨인들은 그 하나님을 아는 지식이 크게 자라기 시작하였음을 보나니, 참으로 그들은 그의 법도와 계명을 지키기 시작하였으며, 또 그의 앞에서 진리와 정직함 가운데 행하기 시작하였더라.

 

 And thus we see that the Nephites did begin to dwindle in unbelief, and grow in wickedness and abominations, while the Lamanites began to grow exceedingly in the knowledge of their God; yea, they did begin to keep his statutes and commandments, and to walk in truth and uprightness before him.  6:34.이같이 니파이인들이 불신앙에 빠져 간악함과 가증함이 더해지는 반면, 레이맨인들은 점차로 더욱 하나님을 알게되어, 하나님의 계명과 율례를 따르고 진리 가운데 행하며 주 앞에 바르게 생활하였으니,
힐 6:35 또 이리하여 주의 영이 니파이인들에게서 물러가기 시작하였음을 보나니, 그들의 마음의 간악함과 완악함으로 인함이었더라.

 

 And thus we see that the Spirit of the Lord began to withdraw from the Nephites, because of the wickedness and the hardness of their hearts.  6:35.니파이인들이 완악해지며 마음이 강퍅하여진지라, 이제 우리는 주의 영이 니파이인들에게서 떠나기 시작하였음을 알며,
힐 6:36 또 이리하여 주께서 레이맨인들 위에 그의 영을 부어 주기 시작하셨음을 보나니, 레이맨인들이 쉽게 그리고 기꺼이 주의 말씀을 믿었음이라.

 

 And thus we see that the Lord began to pour out his Spirit upon the Lamanites, because of their easiness and willingness to believe in his words.  6:36.레이맨인들이 성심을 다하여 선선히 주의 말씀을 믿으려 하매, 주가 레이맨인들에게 주의 영을 부어주심을 아는도다.
힐 6:37 또 이렇게 되었나니 레이맨인들은 개다이앤톤 도적단을 수색하였으며, 또 그들 중 더욱 간악한 무리들 가운데 하나님의 말씀을 전파하였던지라. 마침내 레이맨인들 가운데서는 이 도적의 무리가 온전히 진멸되었더라.

 

 And it came to pass that the Lamanites did hunt the band of robbers of Gadianton; and they did preach the word of God among the more wicked part of them, insomuch that this band of robbers was utterly destroyed from among the Lamanites.  6:37.레이맨인들이 개다이앤톤 도적단을 수색하며, 더욱 간악한 무리들에게 열심으로 하나님의 말씀을 전하여 가르친지라, 마침내 레이맨인들 가운데서 이 도적의 무리를 온전히 멸하여 버렸으나,
힐 6:38 또 이렇게 되었나니 이에 반해서, 니파이인들은 저들을 강화하고 저들을 지원하기를 저들 중 더욱 간악한 무리에서 시작하여, 마침내 저들이 니파이인의 온 땅에 퍼지기까지 그리하였고, 또 의로운 자의 대부분을 유혹하기를 이들이 저들의 행위를 믿고 저들의 약탈물에 참여하며 저들의 은밀한 살인과 결사에 저들과 연합하게 되기까지 그리하였더라.

 

 And it came to pass on the other hand, that the Nephites did build them up and support them, beginning at the more wicked part of them, until they had overspread all the land of the Nephites, and had seduced the more part of the righteous until they had come down to believe in their works and partake of their spoils, and to join with them in their secret murders and combinations.  6:38.니파이인들은 가장 간악한 자들로부터 점차로 이들을 장려하고 보호하여 마침내 니파이인들의 온 나라에 도적의 무리가 퍼지더니, 의로운 자들을 더욱 유혹하여 저들의 행악을 믿게 하고, 약탈한 것을 취하게 하며, 은밀한 살인과 결사에 가담하여 참여하게 하였으니,
힐 6:39 이에 이리하여 저들이 정부의 경영을 도맡고 나서는, 가난한 자와 온유한 자와, 하나님을 따르는 겸손한 자들을 저들의 발 아래 밟으며, 치며, 찢으며, 그들에게 저들의 등을 돌렸느니라.

 

 And thus they did obtain the sole management of the government, insomuch that they did trample under their feet and smite and rend and turn their backs upon the poor and the meek, and the humble followers of God.  6:39.이같이 하여 저들은 정부 통치권을 장악하며, 가난하고 온유하며, 하나님을 따르는 겸손한 자들을 짓밟고 치며 배척하였느니라.
힐 6:40 그러므로 우리는 저들이 참혹한 상태에 있고 영원한 멸망이 무르익고 있었음을 아느니라.

 

 And thus we see that they were in an awful state, and ripening for an everlasting destruction.  6:40.이제 우리는 저들이 참혹한 상태에 빠져 영원한 멸망의 징조가 무르익음을 아나니,
힐 6:41 또 이렇게 되었나니 이같이 니파이 백성에 대한 판사 치세 제육십팔년이 끝났느니라.

 

 And it came to pass that thus ended the sixty and eighth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi.  6:41 니파이 백성들의 판사치세 육십 팔년이 이같이 끝나니라.
