소개 욥이 하나님의 공의로우심과 위대하심을 인정하고 사람은 하나님과 쟁론할수 없다는 결론을 내림. “내가 의로울찌라도 감히 대답하지 못하고....” Job acknowledges the justice and greatness of God, and concludes that man cannot contend against him.

 
욥 9:1 욥이 대답하여 이르되 Then Job answered and said,

 
욥 9:2 진실로 내가 이 일이 그런 줄을 알거니와 인생이 어찌 하나님 앞에 의로우랴 I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?

 
욥 9:3 사람이 하나님께 변론하기를 좋아할지라도 천 마디에 한 마디도 대답하지 못하리라 If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.

 
욥 9:4 그는 마음이 지혜로우시고 힘이 강하시니 그를 거슬러 스스로 완악하게 행하고도 형통할 자가 누구이랴 He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?

 
욥 9:5 그가 진노하심으로 산을 무너뜨리시며 옮기실지라도 산이 깨닫지 못하며 Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.

 
욥 9:6 그가 땅을 그 자리에서 움직이시니 그 기둥들이 흔들리도다 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.

 
욥 9:7 그가 해를 명령하여 뜨지 못하게 하시며 별들을 가두시도다 Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.

 
욥 9:8 그가 홀로 하늘을 펴시며 바다 물결을 밟으시며 Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.

 
욥 9:9 북두성과 삼성과 묘성과 남방의 밀실을 만드셨으며 Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.

 
욥 9:10 측량할 수 없는 큰 일을, 셀 수 없는 기이한 일을 행하시느니라 Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.

 
욥 9:11 그가 내 앞으로 지나시나 내가 보지 못하며 그가 내 앞에서 움직이시나 내가 깨닫지 못하느니라 Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.

 
욥 9:12 하나님이 빼앗으시면 누가 막을 수 있으며 무엇을 하시나이까 하고 누가 물을 수 있으랴 Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?

 
욥 9:13 하나님이 진노를 돌이키지 아니하시나니 라합을 돕는 자들이 그 밑에 굴복하겠거든 If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.

 
욥 9:14 하물며 내가 감히 대답하겠으며 그 앞에서 무슨 말을 택하랴 How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?

 
욥 9:15 가령 내가 의로울지라도 대답하지 못하겠고 나를 심판하실 그에게 간구할 뿐이며 Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.

 
욥 9:16 가령 내가 그를 부르므로 그가 내게 대답하셨을지라도 내 음성을 들으셨다고는 내가 믿지 아니하리라 If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.

 
욥 9:17 그가 폭풍으로 나를 치시고 까닭 없이 내 상처를 깊게 하시며 For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.

 
욥 9:18 나를 숨 쉬지 못하게 하시며 괴로움을 내게 채우시는구나 He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.

 
욥 9:19 힘으로 말하면 그가 강하시고 심판으로 말하면 누가 그를 소환하겠느냐 If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?

 
욥 9:20 가령 내가 의로울지라도 내 입이 나를 정죄하리니 가령 내가 온전할지라도 나를 정죄하시리라 If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.

 
욥 9:21 나는 온전하다마는 내가 나를 돌아보지 아니하고 내 생명을 천히 여기는구나 Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.

 
욥 9:22 일이 다 같은 것이라 그러므로 나는 말하기를 하나님이 온전한 자나 악한 자나 멸망시키신다 하나니 This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.

 
욥 9:23 갑자기 재난이 닥쳐 죽을지라도 무죄한 자의 절망도 그가 비웃으시리라 If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.

 
욥 9:24 세상이 악인의 손에 넘어갔고 재판관의 얼굴도 가려졌나니 그렇게 되게 한 이가 그가 아니시면 누구냐 The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof, if not, where, and who is he?

 
욥 9:25 나의 날이 경주자보다 빨리 사라져 버리니 복을 볼 수 없구나 Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.

 
욥 9:26 그 지나가는 것이 빠른 배 같고 먹이에 날아 내리는 독수리와도 같구나 They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey.

 
욥 9:27 가령 내가 말하기를 내 불평을 잊고 얼굴 빛을 고쳐 즐거운 모양을 하자 할지라도 If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself:

 
욥 9:28 내 모든 고통을 두려워하오니 주께서 나를 죄 없다고 여기지 않으실 줄을 아나이다 I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.

 
욥 9:29 내가 정죄하심을 당할진대 어찌 헛되이 수고하리이까 If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?

 
욥 9:30 내가 눈 녹은 물로 몸을 씻고 잿물로 손을 깨끗하게 할지라도 If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;

 
욥 9:31 주께서 나를 개천에 빠지게 하시리니 내 옷이라도 나를 싫어하리이다 Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.

 
욥 9:32 하나님은 나처럼 사람이 아니신즉 내가 그에게 대답할 수 없으며 함께 들어가 재판을 할 수도 없고 For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.

 
욥 9:33 우리 사이에 손을 얹을 판결자도 없구나 Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.

 
욥 9:34 주께서 그의 막대기를 내게서 떠나게 하시고 그의 위엄이 나를 두렵게 하지 아니하시기를 원하노라 Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:

 
욥 9:35 그리하시면 내가 두려움 없이 말하리라 나는 본래 그렇게 할 수 있는 자가 아니니라 Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
