소개 주께서 욥에게 말씀하심. 할 말을 잃은 욥. The Lord challenges Job, and Job replies humbly—The Lord speaks of his power to Job—He asks: Hast thou an arm like God?—He points to his power in behemoth.

 
욥 40:1 여호와께서 또 욥에게 일러 말씀하시되 Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,

 
욥 40:2 트집 잡는 자가 전능자와 다투겠느냐 하나님을 탓하는 자는 대답할지니라 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

 
욥 40:3 욥이 여호와께 대답하여 이르되 Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

 
욥 40:4 보소서 나는 비천하오니 무엇이라 주께 대답하리이까 손으로 내 입을 가릴 뿐이로소이다 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

 
욥 40:5 내가 한 번 말하였사온즉 다시는 더 대답하지 아니하겠나이다 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

 
욥 40:6 그 때에 여호와께서 폭풍우 가운데에서 욥에게 일러 말씀하시되 Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

 
욥 40:7 너는 대장부처럼 허리를 묶고 내가 네게 묻겠으니 내게 대답할지니라 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

 
욥 40:8 네가 내 공의를 부인하려느냐 네 의를 세우려고 나를 악하다 하겠느냐 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

 
욥 40:9 네가 하나님처럼 능력이 있느냐 하나님처럼 천둥 소리를 내겠느냐 Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

 
욥 40:10 너는 위엄과 존귀로 단장하며 영광과 영화를 입을지니라 Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

 
욥 40:11 너의 넘치는 노를 비우고 교만한 자를 발견하여 모두 낮추되 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

 
욥 40:12 모든 교만한 자를 발견하여 낮아지게 하며 악인을 그들의 처소에서 짓밟을지니라 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

 
욥 40:13 그들을 함께 진토에 묻고 그들의 얼굴을 싸서 은밀한 곳에 둘지니라 Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

 
욥 40:14 그리하면 네 오른손이 너를 구원할 수 있다고 내가 인정하리라 Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

 
욥 40:15 이제 소 같이 풀을 먹는 베헤못을 볼지어다 내가 너를 지은 것 같이 그것도 지었느니라 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

 
욥 40:16 그것의 힘은 허리에 있고 그 뚝심은 배의 힘줄에 있고 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

 
욥 40:17 그것이 꼬리 치는 것은 백향목이 흔들리는 것 같고 그 넓적다리 힘줄은 서로 얽혀 있으며 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

 
욥 40:18 그 뼈는 놋관 같고 그 뼈대는 쇠 막대기 같으니 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

 
욥 40:19 그것은 하나님이 만드신 것 중에 으뜸이라 그것을 지으신 이가 자기의 칼을 가져 오기를 바라노라 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

 
욥 40:20 모든 들 짐승들이 뛰노는 산은 그것을 위하여 먹이를 내느니라 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

 
욥 40:21 그것이 연 잎 아래에나 갈대 그늘에서나 늪 속에 엎드리니 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

 
욥 40:22 연 잎 그늘이 덮으며 시내 버들이 그를 감싸는도다 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

 
욥 40:23 강물이 소용돌이칠지라도 그것이 놀라지 않고 요단 강 물이 쏟아져 그 입으로 들어가도 태연하니 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

 
욥 40:24 그것이 눈을 뜨고 있을 때 누가 능히 잡을 수 있겠으며 갈고리로 그것의 코를 꿸 수 있겠느냐 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
