소개 욥이 주를 찾으며 자신의 결백을 주장함. “나의 가는 길을 오직 그가 아시나니 그가 나를 단련하신 후에는 내가 정금같이 나오리라.” Job seeks the Lord and asserts his own righteousness—He says: When the Lord has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

 
욥 23:1 욥이 대답하여 이르되 Then Job answered and said,

 
욥 23:2 오늘도 내게 반항하는 마음과 근심이 있나니 내가 받는 재앙이 탄식보다 무거움이라 Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.

 
욥 23:3 내가 어찌하면 하나님을 발견하고 그의 처소에 나아가랴 Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!

 
욥 23:4 어찌하면 그 앞에서 내가 호소하며 변론할 말을 내 입에 채우고 I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

 
욥 23:5 내게 대답하시는 말씀을 내가 알며 내게 이르시는 것을 내가 깨달으랴 I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.

 
욥 23:6 그가 큰 권능을 가지시고 나와 더불어 다투시겠느냐 아니로다 도리어 내 말을 들으시리라 Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me.

 
욥 23:7 거기서는 정직한 자가 그와 변론할 수 있은즉 내가 심판자에게서 영원히 벗어나리라 There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.

 
욥 23:8 그런데 내가 앞으로 가도 그가 아니 계시고 뒤로 가도 보이지 아니하며 Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:

 
욥 23:9 그가 왼쪽에서 일하시나 내가 만날 수 없고 그가 오른쪽으로 돌이키시나 뵈올 수 없구나 On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:

 
욥 23:10 그러나 내가 가는 길을 그가 아시나니 그가 나를 단련하신 후에는 내가 순금 같이 되어 나오리라 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

 
욥 23:11 내 발이 그의 걸음을 바로 따랐으며 내가 그의 길을 지켜 치우치지 아니하였고 My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.

 
욥 23:12 내가 그의 입술의 명령을 어기지 아니하고 정한 음식보다 그의 입의 말씀을 귀히 여겼도다 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

 
욥 23:13 그는 뜻이 일정하시니 누가 능히 돌이키랴 그의 마음에 하고자 하시는 것이면 그것을 행하시나니 But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

 
욥 23:14 그런즉 내게 작정하신 것을 이루실 것이라 이런 일이 그에게 많이 있느니라 For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.

 
욥 23:15 그러므로 내가 그 앞에서 떨며 지각을 얻어 그를 두려워하리라 Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.

 
욥 23:16 하나님이 나의 마음을 약하게 하시며 전능자가 나를 두렵게 하셨나니 For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:

 
욥 23:17 이는 내가 두려워하는 것이 어둠 때문이나 흑암이 내 얼굴을 가렸기 때문이 아니로다 Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.
