소개	요셉이 애굽왕의 술맡은 자와 떡굽는 자의 꿈을 해석함. 술맡은 자가 왕에게 요셉에 대해 이야기 하는 것을 잊어버림.	Joseph interprets the dreams of Pharaoh’s chief butler and chief baker—The butler fails to tell Pharaoh of Joseph.	옥에 갇힌 요셉 창세기 40~41장을 읽으면서 더더욱 “주님께서 요셉과 함께 하시”(창세기 39:21)는 것을 살펴본다. 요셉이 보디발의 아내의 유혹에 넘어갔다면 요셉은 결코 성공하지 못했을 것이다. 이 장을 읽으면서 주님께서 나쁜 상황을 어떻게 좋은 상황으로 바꾸셨는지 주목한다.
창 40:1	그 후에 애굽 왕의 술 맡은 자와 떡 굽는 자가 그들의 주인 애굽 왕에게 범죄한지라	And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.
창 40:2	바로가 그 두 관원장 곧 술 맡은 관원장과 떡 굽는 관원장에게 노하여	And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.
창 40:3	그들을 친위대장의 집 안에 있는 옥에 가두니 곧 요셉이 갇힌 곳이라	And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.
창 40:4	친위대장이 요셉에게 그들을 수종들게 하매 요셉이 그들을 섬겼더라 그들이 갇힌 지 여러 날이라	And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.
창 40:5	옥에 갇힌 애굽 왕의 술 맡은 자와 떡 굽는 자 두 사람이 하룻밤에 꿈을 꾸니 각기 그 내용이 다르더라	And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.
창 40:6	아침에 요셉이 들어가 보니 그들에게 근심의 빛이 있는지라	And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.
창 40:7	요셉이 그 주인의 집에 자기와 함께 갇힌 바로의 신하들에게 묻되 어찌하여 오늘 당신들의 얼굴에 근심의 빛이 있나이까	And he asked Pharaoh’s officers that were with him in the ward of his lord’s house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?
창 40:8	그들이 그에게 이르되 우리가 꿈을 꾸었으나 이를 해석할 자가 없도다 요셉이 그들에게 이르되 해석은 하나님께 있지 아니하니이까 청하건대 내게 이르소서	And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.
창 40:9	술 맡은 관원장이 그의 꿈을 요셉에게 말하여 이르되 내가 꿈에 보니 내 앞에 포도나무가 있는데	And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;
창 40:10	그 나무에 세 가지가 있고 싹이 나서 꽃이 피고 포도송이가 익었고	And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:
창 40:11	내 손에 바로의 잔이 있기로 내가 포도를 따서 그 즙을 바로의 잔에 짜서 그 잔을 바로의 손에 드렸노라	And Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.
창 40:12	요셉이 그에게 이르되 그 해석이 이러하니 세 가지는 사흘이라	And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:
창 40:13	지금부터 사흘 안에 바로가 당신의 머리를 들고 당신의 전직을 회복시키리니 당신이 그 전에 술 맡은 자가 되었을 때에 하던 것 같이 바로의 잔을 그의 손에 드리게 되리이다	Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.
창 40:14	당신이 잘 되시거든 나를 생각하고 내게 은혜를 베풀어서 내 사정을 바로에게 아뢰어 이 집에서 나를 건져 주소서	But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:
창 40:15	나는 히브리 땅에서 끌려온 자요 여기서도 옥에 갇힐 일은 행하지 아니하였나이다	For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.
창 40:16	떡 굽는 관원장이 그 해석이 좋은 것을 보고 요셉에게 이르되 나도 꿈에 보니 흰 떡 세 광주리가 내 머리에 있고	When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:
창 40:17	맨 윗광주리에 바로를 위하여 만든 각종 구운 음식이 있는데 새들이 내 머리의 광주리에서 그것을 먹더라	And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.
창 40:18	요셉이 대답하여 이르되 그 해석은 이러하니 세 광주리는 사흘이라	And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:
창 40:19	지금부터 사흘 안에 바로가 당신의 머리를 들고 당신을 나무에 달리니 새들이 당신의 고기를 뜯어 먹으리이다 하더니	Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.
창 40:20	제삼일은 바로의 생일이라 바로가 그의 모든 신하를 위하여 잔치를 베풀 때에 술 맡은 관원장과 떡 굽는 관원장에게 그의 신하들 중에 머리를 들게 하니라	And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
창 40:21	바로의 술 맡은 관원장은 전직을 회복하매 그가 잔을 바로의 손에 받들어 드렸고	And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand:
창 40:22	떡 굽는 관원장은 매달리니 요셉이 그들에게 해석함과 같이 되었으나	But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.
창 40:23	술 맡은 관원장이 요셉을 기억하지 못하고 그를 잊었더라	Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.	창세기 39:21~23; 40:1~23 요셉의 영적인 위대성은 참으로 놀라운 것이다. 사소한 실제의 일이나 상상에 의한 일로 원한을 품거나 개인의 조그마한 비극 때문에 주님을 탓하는 사람이 얼마나 많은가? 요셉은 옳은 일에 성실하고 진실하면서도 거짓 죄목으로 투옥되었다. 그는 자포자기하여 “하나님을 섬겨야 무슨 소용이 있어? 나에게 벌만 주는데.”라고 말하기가 얼마나 쉬웠겠는가! 그러나 주님을 비난한 흔적은 찾아볼 수도 없다. 요셉은 계속 충실하고 의로웠다. 그는 자신의 지식이 하나님에게서 오는 것이라고 말하며 사심 없이 두 동료 죄수의 꿈을 해석해 주었다.(창세기 40:8 참조) 그는 감옥에서 지내는 것이 암담했을 텐데도 계속 주님을 믿었다. 낙담하고 좌절할 만한 동기를 가진 사람이 있다면 바로 요셉이었다. 그러나 그는 신앙으로 결코 갈등을 느끼지 않았다. 참으로 요셉은 본받을 만한 모범적인 사람이다.
