소개 그리스도께서는 마리아에게서 나실 것임 - 그는 사망의 줄을 푸시고 자기 백성의 죄를 담당하실 것임 - 회개하고, 침례 받고, 계명을 지키는 자들은 영생을 얻게 될 것임 - 더러움은 하나님의 왕국을 상속할 수 없음 - 겸손, 신앙, 소망 그리고 사랑을 가져야 함. 주전 83년경. Christ shall be born of Mary—He shall loose the bands of death and bear the sins of his people—Those who repent, are baptized, and keep the commandments shall have eternal life—Filthiness cannot inherit the kingdom of God—Humility, faith, hope, and charity are required. 앨 7:1 보라 나의 사랑하는 형제들아, 내가 너희에게 오도록 허락되었으니, 그러므로 내가 내 말로써 참으로 내 입으로 친히 너희에게 고하고자 하노라. 내가 내 입의 말로, 너희에게 말한 것이 이번이 처음인 것은, 내가 온전히 판사직에 매여 있었으므로, 일이 많아 너희에게 올 수 없었음이니라. BEHOLD my beloved brethren, seeing that I have been permitted to come unto you, therefore I attempt to address you in my language; yea, by my own mouth, seeing that it is the first time that I have spoken unto you by the words of my mouth, I having been wholly confined to the judgment-seat, having had much business that I could not come unto you.
앨 7:2 또 만일 판사직이 나를 대신하여 다스릴 다른 이에게 주어지지 아니하였거나, 주께서 많은 자비로써 내가 너희에게 오도록 허락하여 주시지 아니하셨더라면, 지금 이 시간에도 내가 올 수 없었으리라. And even I could not have come now at this time were it not that the judgment-seat hath been given to another, to reign in my stead; and the Lord in much mercy hath granted that I should come unto you.
앨 7:3 보라, 나는 너희가 하나님 앞에 스스로 겸손하였음과 너희가 계속하여 하나님의 은혜를 간구해 왔음을 알게 되고, 그리하여 그의 앞에서 너희가 책망 받을 것이 없었음을 알게 되며, 제이라헤믈라에서 우리의 형제들이 빠져 있었던 참담한 곤경에 너희가 빠져 있지 않았음을 알게 되기를 바라는 큰 소망과 많은 바람을 가지고 왔느니라. And behold, I have come having great hopes and much desire that I should find that ye had humbled yourselves before God, and that ye had continued in the supplicating of his grace, that I should find that ye were blameless before him, that I should find that ye were not in the awful dilemma that our brethren were in at Zarahemla.
앨 7:4 그러나 하나님의 이름에 복이 있을지니, 그는 그들이 다시 그의 의의 길에 세워졌음을 나로 알게 해 주시되, 참으로 이를 아는 심히 큰 기쁨을 나에게 주셨느니라. But blessed be the name of God, that he hath given me to know, yea, hath given unto me the exceedingly great joy of knowing that they are established again in the way of his righteousness.
앨 7:5 또 나는 내 안에 있는 하나님의 영에 따라, 내가 너희에 관하여서도 기쁨을 얻게 될 줄로 믿노라. 그러나 너희에 관한 나의 기쁨이 제이라헤믈라에 있는 형제들을 위하여 내가 겪었던 그처럼 많은 고난과 슬픔으로 말미암아 오기를 원하지 아니하노니, 이는 보라, 그들에 관한 나의 기쁨은 많은 고난과 슬픔을 헤쳐 지난 다음에야 옴이니라. And I trust, according to the Spirit of God which is in me, that I shall also have joy over you; nevertheless I do not desire that my joy over you should come by the cause of so much afflictions and sorrow which I have had for the brethren at Zarahemla, for behold, my joy cometh over them after wading through much affliction and sorrow.
앨 7:6 그러나 보라, 나는 너희가 너희 형제들 같이 그처럼 심하게 믿지 않는 상태에 있지 아니한 줄로 믿으며, 너희가 너희 마음의 교만 중에 자고하여지지 아니한 줄로 믿노니, 참으로 나는 너희가 재물과 세상의 헛된 것에 너희 마음을 두지 아니한 줄로 믿노라. 참으로 나는 너희가 우상들을 숭배하지 아니하고, 참되시고 살아 계신 하나님을 경배하며, 영원한 신앙으로, 장차 임할 너희의 죄 사유함을 고대하고 있는 줄로 믿노라. But behold, I trust that ye are not in a state of so much unbelief as were your brethren; I trust that ye are not lifted up in the pride of your hearts; yea, I trust that ye have not set your hearts upon riches and the vain things of the world; yea, I trust that you do not worship idols, but that ye do worship the true and the living God, and that ye look forward for the remission of your sins, with an everlasting faith, which is to come.
앨 7:7 이는 보라, 내가 너희에게 이르노니 장차 임할 일이 많이 있으되, 보라, 그 모두보다 더욱 중요한 일이 한 가지 있음이니 - 이는 보라, 구속주가 사시며 자기 백성 가운데 오시는 때가 그리 멀지 아니하였음이니라. For behold, I say unto you there be many things to come; and behold, there is one thing which is of more importance than they all—for behold, the time is not far distant that the Redeemer liveth and cometh among his people.
앨 7:8 보라, 내 말은 그가 그의 필멸의 성막에 거하시는 때에 우리 중에 오시겠다 함이 아니니, 이는 보라, 영은 그러하리라고 내게 말하지 아니하였음이니라. 이제 이 일에 대하여는 내가 알지 못하나, 이만큼 내가 아노니, 곧 주 하나님께서는 그의 말씀에 따르는 모든 일을 행하실 권능을 지니셨느니라. Behold, I do not say that he will come among us at the time of his dwelling in his mortal tabernacle; for behold, the Spirit hath not said unto me that this should be the case. Now as to this thing I do not know; but this much I do know, that the Lord God hath power to do all things which are according to his word.
앨 7:9 그러나 보라, 영이 나에게 이만큼 이르셨으니, 이르시되 이 백성에게 외쳐 이르기를 - 너희는 회개하고, 주의 길을 예비하며, 그의 길, 곧 바른 길로 행하라 하라. 이는 보라, 천국이 가까웠고, 하나님의 아들이 땅 위에 오심이니라. But behold, the Spirit hath said this much unto me, saying: Cry unto this people, saying—Repent ye, and prepare the way of the Lord, and walk in his paths, which are straight; for behold, the kingdom of heaven is at hand, and the Son of God cometh upon the face of the earth.
앨 7:10 또 보라, 그는 우리 선조들의 땅인 예루살렘에서 마리아에게서 나시리니, 그는 처녀로서, 귀하고 택함을 받은 그릇이라, 성신의 권능으로 덮으심을 입고 잉태하여, 아들을 낳으리니, 곧 하나님의 아들이니라. And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.
앨 7:11 이에 그가 나아가사, 온갖 고통과 고난과 시험을 당하시리니, 이는 그가 자기 백성의 고통과 질병을 짊어지리라는 말씀을 이루려 하심이라. And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
앨 7:12 또 그가 사망을 짊어지시리니, 이는 그의 백성을 결박하는 사망의 줄을 푸시려 함이요, 또 그들의 연약함을 짊어지시리니, 육체를 따라, 그의 심정을 자비로 충만하게 하사, 육체를 따라, 자기 백성을 그들의 연약함을 좇아 어떻게 도울지 아시고자 하심이니라. And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.
앨 7:13 이제 영은 모든 것을 다 알고 계시나, 그럼에도 하나님의 아들이 육체를 따라 고난을 받으심은 자기 백성의 죄를 지심으로, 그의 구원의 능력을 좇아 그들의 범법을 지워버리려 하심이니, 이제 보라, 이것이 내 안에 있는 증거니라. Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me.
앨 7:14 이제 내가 너희에게 이르노니 너희는 반드시 회개하고 거듭나야 하느니라. 이는 영이 말씀하시되 만일 너희가 거듭나지 아니하면 천국을 유업으로 얻을 수 없다 하심이니라. 그러므로 와서 회개에 이르는 침례를 받아, 너희 죄에서 씻음을 받고, 하나님의 어린 양을 믿는 신앙을 가질지니, 그는 세상의 죄를 제하시며, 구원하시고 모든 불의에서 깨끗하게 하시기에 능하신 이시니라. Now I say unto you that ye must repent, and be born again; for the Spirit saith if ye are not born again ye cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore come and be baptized unto repentance, that ye may be washed from your sins, that ye may have faith on the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, who is mighty to save and to cleanse from all unrighteousness.
앨 7:15 참으로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 와서 두려워 말고, 쉽게 너희를 에워싸며, 너희를 결박하여 멸망으로 끌어내리는 죄를 모두 버리고, 참으로 와서 너희 하나님께 나아가, 너희 죄를 기꺼이 회개하며 그의 계명을 지키기로 그와 성약을 맺고자 함을 보이고, 이를 침례의 물에 들어감으로써 오늘날 그에게 증거하도록 하라. Yea, I say unto you come and fear not, and lay aside every sin, which easily doth beset you, which doth bind you down to destruction, yea, come and go forth, and show unto your God that ye are willing to repent of your sins and enter into a covenant with him to keep his commandments, and witness it unto him this day by going into the waters of baptism.
앨 7:16 또 누구든지 이를 행하며, 그때로부터 하나님의 계명을 지키는 자, 그는 내가 그에게 이같이 말하는 것을 기억하리니, 참으로 그가 내 안에서 증거하시는 성령의 증거를 따라, 영생을 얻으리라고 내가 그에게 말한 것을 기억하리라. And whosoever doeth this, and keepeth the commandments of God from thenceforth, the same will remember that I say unto him, yea, he will remember that I have said unto him, he shall have eternal life, according to the testimony of the Holy Spirit, which testifieth in me.
앨 7:17 또 이제 나의 사랑하는 형제들아, 너희는 이러한 것을 믿느냐? 보라, 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 그러하도다, 너희가 그러한 것을 믿는 줄 내가 아노라. 너희가 이를 믿는 줄을 내가 아는 방도는 내 안에 계시는 영의 나타내심에 의한 것이니, 이제 이에 관하여, 참으로 내가 말한 것에 관하여, 너희의 신앙이 강함으로 나의 기쁨이 크도다. And now my beloved brethren, do you believe these things? Behold, I say unto you, yea, I know that ye believe them; and the way that I know that ye believe them is by the manifestation of the Spirit which is in me. And now because your faith is strong concerning that, yea, concerning the things which I have spoken, great is my joy.
앨 7:18 이는 내가 처음부터 너희에게 말하기를, 너희가 너희 형제들처럼 곤경의 상태에 있지 않기를 바라는 많은 바람을 내가 가졌노라 한 것같이, 참으로 그와 같이 나의 바람이 충족되었음을 내가 알았음이라. For as I said unto you from the beginning, that I had much desire that ye were not in the state of dilemma like your brethren, even so I have found that my desires have been gratified.
앨 7:19 이는 너희가 의의 길에 있는 줄을 내가 깨달음이요, 너희가 하나님의 나라로 인도하는 길에 있는 줄을 내가 깨달음이니, 참으로 너희가 그의 길을 곧게 하고 있는 줄을 내가 깨달음이니라. For I perceive that ye are in the paths of righteousness; I perceive that ye are in the path which leads to the kingdom of God; yea, I perceive that ye are making his paths straight.
앨 7:20 내가 깨닫건대 그가 굽은 길로 행하실 수 없으시며, 말씀하신 것에서 변경하지도 아니하시며, 오른편에서 왼편으로, 혹은 바른 것에서 그른 것으로 돌이키는 흔적도 갖지 아니하시며, 그러므로 그의 진리는 하나의 영원한 원이라는 것이, 그의 말씀의 증거에 의해 너희에게 알려졌도다.

I perceive that it has been made known unto you, by the testimony of his word, that he cannot walk in crooked paths; neither doth he vary from that which he hath said; neither hath he a shadow of turning from the right to the left, or from that which is right to that which is wrong; therefore, his course is one eternal round.
앨 7:21 또 그는 거룩하지 아니한 성전에 거하지 아니하시며, 더러움이나 무엇이든 부정한 것은 하나님 왕국에 받아들여질 수 없도다. 그러므로 내가 너희에게 말하노니 때가 이를지라, 참으로 마지막 날에 그러하겠거니와, 더러운 자는 자기의 더러움에 그대로 머물게 되리라. And he doth not dwell in unholy temples; neither can filthiness or anything which is unclean be received into the kingdom of God; therefore I say unto you the time shall come, yea, and it shall be at the last day, that he who is filthy shall remain in his filthiness.
앨 7:22 또 이제 나의 사랑하는 형제들아, 내가 이러한 것들을 너희에게 일렀음은 너희를 일깨워 하나님께 대한 너희의 의무를 깨닫게 하여, 너희로 그의 앞에서 책망할 것 없이 행하게 하여, 너희로 하나님의 거룩한 반차를 좇아 행하게 하려 함이니, 이 반차를 좇아 너희가 받으심을 얻었느니라. And now my beloved brethren, I have said these things unto you that I might awaken you to a sense of your duty to God, that ye may walk blameless before him, that ye may walk after the holy order of God, after which ye have been received.
앨 7:23 또 이제 나는 너희가 겸손하며, 유순하고 온화하며, 쉽게 권함을 받으며, 인내와 오래 참음이 가득하며, 모든 일에 절제하며, 어느 때에나 하나님의 계명을 지키기에 부지런하며, 영적인 것이나 현세적인 것이나 너희에게 필요한 것을 무엇이든지 구하며, 너희가 받는 것이 무엇이든지 그에 대하여 항상 하나님께 감사를 돌리기를 원하노라. And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.
앨 7:24 또 돌아보아 너희에게 신앙과 소망과 사랑이 있게 할지니, 그리하면 너희가 항상 선행이 넘치게 되리라. And see that ye have faith, hope, and charity, and then ye will always abound in good works.
앨 7:25 또 주께서 너희를 축복하시고, 너희의 옷을 흠 없이 지키사, 너희로 결국에는 아브라함, 이삭 및 야곱과, 세상이 시작된 때로부터 있어온 거룩한 선지자들과 더불어, 그들의 옷이 흠 없음같이 너희의 옷이 흠 없는 채로 천국에 앉기에 이르게 하시고, 다시는 나가지 않게 하시기를 바라노라. And may the Lord bless you, and keep your garments spotless, that ye may at last be brought to sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the holy prophets who have been ever since the world began, having your garments spotless even as their garments are spotless, in the kingdom of heaven to go no more out.
앨 7:26 또 이제 나의 사랑하는 형제들아, 내가 내 안에서 증거하시는 영을 좇아 너희에게 이러한 말을 하였노니, 너희가 내 말에 지극한 열심과 주의를 기울였음으로 인하여 내 영혼이 심히 기쁘도다. And now my beloved brethren, I have spoken these words unto you according to the Spirit which testifieth in me; and my soul doth exceedingly rejoice, because of the exceeding diligence and heed which ye have given unto my word.
앨 7:27 또 이제 하나님의 평안이 너희 위에와, 너희 집들과 땅 위에와, 너희 양 떼와 소 떼와, 너희가 가진 모든 것, 너희의 여자들과 너희 자녀들 위에, 너희의 신앙과 선행을 좇아, 이제로부터 영원토록 임하기를 비노라. 이같이 내가 말하였노라. 아멘. And now, may the peace of God rest upon you, and upon your houses and lands, and upon your flocks and herds, and all that you possess, your women and your children, according to your faith and good works, from this time forth and forever. And thus I have spoken. Amen.
