Pahoran tells Moroni of the insurrection and rebellion against the government—The king-men take Zarahemla and are in league with the Lamanites—Pahoran asks for military aid against the rebels. 앨 61:1	보라, 이제 이렇게 되었나니 모로나이가 그의 서한을 최고 통치자에게 보낸 후, 곧 그는 최고 통치자 페이호랜으로부터 서한을 받았더라. 이에 그가 받은 말이 이러하니라.	Behold, now it came to pass that soon after Moroni had sent his epistle unto the chief governor, he received an epistle from Pahoran, the chief governor. And these are the words which he received:
앨 61:2	땅의 최고 통치자 나 페이호랜은 군대의 총대장 모로나이에게 이 말을 보내노라. 보라, 모로나이여, 내가 그대에게 이르노니, 나는 그대의 큰 고난을 기뻐하지 아니하노라. 참으로 그대의 고난은 나의 영혼을 비통하게 하는도다.	I, Pahoran, who am the chief governor of this land, do send these words unto Moroni, the chief captain over the army. Behold, I say unto you, Moroni, that I do not joy in your great afflictions, yea, it grieves my soul.
앨 61:3	그러나 보라, 그대의 고난을 기뻐하는 자들이 있어, 실로 그들이 일어나, 나와 또한 나의 백성 중 자유파에 속한 자들을 대적하여 모반을 일으켰나니, 또한 일어난 자들의 수효가 심히 많으니라.	But behold, there are those who do joy in your afflictions, yea, insomuch that they have risen up in rebellion against me, and also those of my people who are freemen, yea, and those who have risen up are exceedingly numerous.
앨 61:4	또 이 큰 죄악의 원인이 된 자들은 내게서 판사직을 빼앗고자 하던 자들이니, 그들이 크게 아첨하는 말을 하고, 많은 백성의 마음을 꾀어내었으매, 이는 우리 중에 혹심한 고난의 원인이 될 것이라. 그들은 우리의 식량을 내어주지 아니하며 우리의 자유파 사람들을 두렵게 한지라, 저들이 그대들에게로 나아가지 못하였느니라.	And it is those who have sought to take away the judgment-seat from me that have been the cause of this great iniquity; for they have used great flattery, and they have led away the hearts of many people, which will be the cause of sore affliction among us; they have withheld our provisions, and have daunted our freemen that they have not come unto you.
앨 61:5	또 보라, 그들이 그들 앞에서 나를 몰아낸지라, 내가 얻을 수 있는 한 많은 사람들을 데리고 기드온 땅으로 피하였더라.	And behold, they have driven me out before them, and I have fled to the land of Gideon, with as many men as it were possible that I could get.
앨 61:6	그리고 보라, 내가 이 지역에 두루 포고를 보내었더니, 보라, 저들이 무기를 잡고, 저들의 나라와 저들의 자유를 지키며, 우리가 받은 악행을 갚아 주고자, 매일 우리에게로 모여들고 있느니라.	And behold, I have sent a proclamation throughout this part of the land; and behold, they are flocking to us daily, to their arms, in the defence of their country and their freedom, and to avenge our wrongs.
앨 61:7	또 저들이 우리에게로 오매, 일어나 우리를 대적하여 모반을 일으켰던 자들을 무시할 만큼 된지라, 참으로 그들이 우리를 두려워하며, 감히 우리를 대적하여 싸우러 나오지 못하고 있느니라.	And they have come unto us, insomuch that those who have risen up in rebellion against us are set at defiance, yea, insomuch that they do fear us and durst not come out against us to battle.
앨 61:8	그들은 제이라헤믈라 땅 곧 성을 차지하고, 그들을 다스릴 왕을 임명하였으며, 그는 레이맨인의 왕에게 편지하여 그와 동맹을 체결하였는데, 이 동맹에서 그는 제이라헤믈라 성을 지키기로 맹약하였으니, 그의 생각에 이 성을 지키면 레이맨인들이 이 땅의 나머지를 정복할 수 있을 것이요, 또 이 백성이 레이맨인들에게 정복당하게 되면, 그가 이 백성을 다스릴 왕으로 앉게 되리라 함이라.	They have got possession of the land, or the city, of Zarahemla; they have appointed a king over them, and he hath written unto the king of the Lamanites, in the which he hath joined an alliance with him; in the which alliance he hath agreed to maintain the city of Zarahemla, which maintenance he supposeth will enable the Lamanites to conquer the remainder of the land, and he shall be placed king over this people when they shall be conquered under the Lamanites.
앨 61:9	또 이제 그대의 편지에서 그대는 나를 비난하였으나, 내가 이를 괘념하지 아니하노라. 내가 노하지도 아니하며, 오히려 그대의 고결한 마음을 기뻐하노라. 나 페이호랜은 권력을 추구하지 아니하며, 다만 나의 판사직을 지키려 함은 내 백성의 권리와 자유를 유지하려 함이라. 내 영혼은 하나님이 우리를 자유롭게 하신 그 자유 안에 굳게 서 있도다.	And now, in your epistle you have censured me, but it mattereth not; I am not angry, but do rejoice in the greatness of your heart. I, Pahoran, do not seek for power, save only to retain my judgment-seat that I may preserve the rights and the liberty of my people. My soul standeth fast in that liberty in the which God hath made us free.
앨 61:10	또 이제 보라, 우리는 피 흘리기까지라도 간악함에 대항할 것이라. 레이맨인들이 만일 그들의 땅에 머물러 있는다면 우리는 그들의 피를 흘리지 아니하리라.	And now, behold, we will resist wickedness even unto bloodshed. We would not shed the blood of the Lamanites if they would stay in their own land.
앨 61:11	만일 우리의 형제들이 일어나 모반을 일으키며 우리를 대적하여 칼을 잡지 아니할진대 우리는 그들의 피도 흘리지 아니하리라.	We would not shed the blood of our brethren if they would not rise up in rebellion and take the sword against us.
앨 61:12	만일 하나님의 공의에 비추어 필요하다거나, 또는 그가 우리에게 그리하라 명하신다면 우리는 스스로 속박의 멍에를 짊어지리라.	We would subject ourselves to the yoke of bondage if it were requisite with the justice of God, or if he should command us so to do.
앨 61:13	그러나 보라 그는 우리에게 우리의 적에게 굴복하라 명하지 아니하시며, 도리어 우리가 그를 신뢰할진대, 우리를 건지시리라 하시느니라.	But behold he doth not command us that we shall subject ourselves to our enemies, but that we should put our trust in him, and he will deliver us.
앨 61:14	그러므로 나의 사랑하는 형제 모로나이여, 우리는 악을 대적하자. 그리고 무슨 악이든지, 참으로 모반이나 이반과 같이 우리가 우리의 말로 대적할 수 없는 악은, 우리의 칼로 대적하여 우리의 자유를 지키고, 우리 교회의 커다란 특권과 우리의 구속주시요 우리의 하나님이신 이의 대의 안에서 기뻐하자.	Therefore, my beloved brother, Moroni, let us resist evil, and whatsoever evil we cannot resist with our words, yea, such as rebellions and dissensions, let us resist them with our swords, that we may retain our freedom, that we may rejoice in the great privilege of our church, and in the cause of our Redeemer and our God.
앨 61:15	그러므로 그대의 병사를 소수 이끌고 속히 내게로 오라. 나머지는 리하이와 티앤쿰에게 맡기라. 하나님의 영을 좇아 그 지역의 전쟁을 지휘할 권세를 그들에게 주라. 그 영은 또한 그들 안에 있는 자유의 정신이기도 하니라.	Therefore, come unto me speedily with a few of your men, and leave the remainder in the charge of Lehi and Teancum; give unto them power to conduct the war in that part of the land, according to the Spirit of God, which is also the spirit of freedom which is in them.
앨 61:16	보라 내가 약간의 식량을 그들에게 보내었으니, 그대가 내게 올 수 있을 때까지 그들이 멸망하지 아니하리라.	Behold I have sent a few provisions unto them, that they may not perish until ye can come unto me.
앨 61:17	그대가 이리로 행군하여 오면서 모을 수 있는 병력을 모두 모으라. 그러한 후 우리는 우리 안에 있는 신앙을 따라 하나님의 능력으로 속히 저 이반자들을 치러 갈 것이라.	Gather together whatsoever force ye can upon your march hither, and we will go speedily against those dissenters, in the strength of our God according to the faith which is in us.
앨 61:18	또 우리가 제이라헤믈라 성을 점령하여, 리하이와 티앤쿰에게 보낼 양식을 더 얻도록 할 것이라. 참으로 우리는 주의 능력으로 그들을 치러 나아갈 것이요, 그리하여 이 큰 죄악을 종식시키리라.	And we will take possession of the city of Zarahemla, that we may obtain more food to send forth unto Lehi and Teancum; yea, we will go forth against them in the strength of the Lord, and we will put an end to this great iniquity.
앨 61:19	또 이제 모로나이여, 내가 그대의 서한을 받고 기뻐하노니, 이는 우리가 어찌해야 할지, 우리의 형제를 치러 가는 것이 우리에게 의로운 것인지에 관하여 얼마간 염려하고 있었음이라.	And now, Moroni, I do joy in receiving your epistle, for I was somewhat worried concerning what we should do, whether it should be just in us to go against our brethren.
앨 61:20	그러나 그대는 저들이 회개하지 아니하면 주께서 그대에게 명하시기를 저들을 치러 가라 하셨다 하였느니라.	But ye have said, except they repent the Lord hath commanded you that ye should go against them.
앨 61:21	그대는 반드시 리하이와 티앤쿰을 주 안에서 견고하게 하라. 그들에게 이르기를 두려워 말라 하라. 이는 하나님이 그들을 건지실 것임이니 그들뿐 아니라 하나님이 자유롭게 하신 그 자유 안에 굳게 선 모든 자들을 또한 건지시리라. 이제 나의 사랑하는 형제 모로나이에게 보내는 나의 서한을 끝맺노라.	See that ye strengthen Lehi and Teancum in the Lord; tell them to fear not, for God will deliver them, yea, and also all those who stand fast in that liberty wherewith God hath made them free. And now I close mine epistle to my beloved brother, Moroni.
