앨 39:1	그리고 이제 내 아들아, 네게는 내가 네 형에게 말한 것보다 말할 것이 얼마간 더 있나니, 보라, 너는 네 형의 굳건함과 그의 충실함과 하나님의 계명을 지킴에 있어 그가 부지런한 것을 보지 아니하였느냐? 보라, 그가 네게 좋은 본을 보이지 아니하였느냐?	AND now, my son, I have somewhat more to say unto thee than what I said unto thy brother; for behold, have ye not observed the steadiness of thy brother, his faithfulness, and his diligence in keeping the commandments of God? Behold, has he not set a good example for thee?
앨 39:2	이는 네가 조램인 백성 가운데서 네 형이 그러한 것만큼 내 말에 유의하지 아니하였음이라. 이제 내가 네게 대하여 책망할 것이 이것이니, 너는 계속하여 나아가 네 힘과 네 지혜를 자랑하기에 이르렀느니라.	For thou didst not give so much heed unto my words as did thy brother, among the people of the Zoramites. Now this is what I have against thee; thou didst go on unto boasting in thy strength and thy wisdom.
앨 39:3	또 이것이 모두가 아니라, 내 아들아. 너는 나를 비통하게 하는 일을 하였나니, 이는 네가 네 직무를 저버리고, 창녀 이사벨을 따라, 레이맨인들의 경계 가운데 있는 시론 땅으로 건너갔음이니라.	And this is not all, my son. Thou didst do that which was grievous unto me; for thou didst forsake the ministry, and did go over into the land of Siron among the borders of the Lamanites, after the harlot Isabel.
앨 39:4	참으로 그는 많은 자들의 마음을 빼앗았으나, 내 아들아, 그것이 네게 변명이 될 수 없었느니라. 너는 네게 맡겨진 직무에 전념하였어야 했느니라.	Yea, she did steal away the hearts of many; but this was no excuse for thee, my son. Thou shouldst have tended to the ministry wherewith thou wast entrusted.
앨 39:5	내 아들아, 이러한 일은 주가 보시기에 가증한 일이라, 참으로 무죄한 피를 흘리거나 성신을 부인하는 일을 제외하고는 모든 죄 중에 가장 가증한 일인 줄을 네가 알지 못하느냐?	Know ye not, my son, that these things are an abomination in the sight of the Lord; yea, most abominable above all sins save it be the shedding of innocent blood or denying the Holy Ghost?
앨 39:6	이는 보라, 만일 네가 성신이 한 번 네 속에 거하실 곳을 가지신 후에 그를 부인하고, 또 네가 그를 부인하는 줄을 네가 알고 있다면, 보라 이는 사하심을 얻지 못할 죄니라. 또한 누구든지 하나님의 빛과 지식을 거스려 살인하면, 그는 쉽게 사하심을 얻지 못하나니, 내 아들아, 참으로 내가 네게 이르노니, 그는 쉽게 사하심을 얻지 못하느니라.	For behold, if ye deny the Holy Ghost when it once has had place in you, and ye know that ye deny it, behold, this is a sin which is unpardonable; yea, and whosoever murdereth against the light and knowledge of God, it is not easy for him to obtain forgiveness; yea, I say unto you, my son, that it is not easy for him to obtain a forgiveness.
앨 39:7	또 이제 내 아들아, 나는 네가 그처럼 큰 죄를 범하지 않았기를 하나님께 간구하노라. 네 유익을 위한 것이 아니라면, 내가 네 범죄를 되새기며, 네 영혼을 괴롭게 하지 아니할 것이라.	And now, my son, I would to God that ye had not been guilty of so great a crime. I would not dwell upon your crimes, to harrow up your soul, if it were not for your good.
앨 39:8	그러나 보라, 네가 하나님께는 네 범죄를 숨길 수 없나니, 네가 회개하지 않는 한 그것들이 마지막 날에 너를 치는 증거가 되리라.	But behold, ye cannot hide your crimes from God; and except ye repent they will stand as a testimony against you at the last day.
앨 39:9	이제 내 아들아, 나는 네가 회개하고 네 죄를 버리며, 더 이상 네 눈의 탐욕을 따라가지 말고, 도리어 이 모든 일에 네 스스로를 부인하기 바라노라. 이는 네가 이렇게 하지 아니할진대 결단코 하나님의 나라를 기업으로 받을 수 없음이니라. 오 기억하고, 이를 짊어지며, 이 모든 일에 네 스스로를 부인하라.	Now my son, I would that ye should repent and forsake your sins, and go no more after the lusts of your eyes, but cross yourself in all these things; for except ye do this ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God. Oh, remember, and take it upon you, and cross yourself in these things.
앨 39:10	또 내가 네게 명하노니 너는 네가 하고자 하는 일을 네 형들과 의논하기로 하라. 이는 보라 네가 젊고, 네 형들의 양육을 받을 필요가 있음이니, 그들의 권고에 주의를 기울이라.	And I command you to take it upon you to counsel with your elder brothers in your undertakings; for behold, thou art in thy youth, and ye stand in need to be nourished by your brothers. And give heed to their counsel.
앨 39:11	네 스스로 헛되거나 어리석은 아무 일에도 이끌려 감을 용납하지 말라. 악마로 하여금 다시는 네 마음을 이끌어 가서 저 간악한 창녀들을 따라가게 하지 말라. 보라, 내 아들아, 네가 조램인들에게 얼마나 큰 죄악을 끼쳤는지, 이는 그들이 너의 처신을 보고 내 말을 믿으려 하지 아니하였음이라.	Suffer not yourself to be led away by any vain or foolish thing; suffer not the devil to lead away your heart again after those wicked harlots. Behold, O my son, how great iniquity ye brought upon the Zoramites; for when they saw your conduct they would not believe in my words.
앨 39:12	또 이제 주의 영이 내게 이르시기를, 네 자녀들을 명하여 선을 행하게 하라, 그렇지 아니하면 두렵건대 그들이 많은 백성의 마음을 멸망으로 이끌어 갈까 하노라 하시나니, 그러므로 내 아들아, 내가 하나님을 두려워함으로 네게 명하노니 너는 네 죄악을 삼가라.	And now the Spirit of the Lord doth say unto me: Command thy children to do good, lest they lead away the hearts of many people to destruction; therefore I command you, my son, in the fear of God, that ye refrain from your iniquities;
앨 39:13	네 생각과 능력과 힘을 다하여 주께로 돌이키라. 더 이상 백성의 마음을 악을 행하도록 이끌어 가지 말고, 그보다는 그들에게로 돌아가 네 잘못과 네가 행한 저 비행을 시인하라.	That ye turn to the Lord with all your mind, might, and strength; that ye lead away the hearts of no more to do wickedly; but rather return unto them, and acknowledge your faults and that wrong which ye have done.
앨 39:14	재물이나 이 세상의 헛된 것들을 구하지 말라. 이는 보라, 네가 그것을 가지고 갈 수 없음이니라.	Seek not after riches nor the vain things of this world; for behold, you cannot carry them with you.
앨 39:15	그리고 이제 내 아들아, 나는 네게 그리스도의 오심에 관하여 얼마간 말하고자 하노라. 보라, 내가 네게 이르노니, 세상의 죄를 제하시기 위하여 정녕 오실 이는 그이시니, 참으로 그가 오시는 것은 자기 백성에게 구원의 기쁜 소식을 선포하려 하심이니라.	And now, my son, I would say somewhat unto you concerning the coming of Christ. Behold, I say unto you, that it is he that surely shall come to take away the sins of the world; yea, he cometh to declare glad tidings of salvation unto his people.
앨 39:16	또 이제 내 아들아, 이것이 네가 부름 받은 직무였나니, 곧 이 기쁜 소식을 이 백성에게 선포하여 그들의 마음을 준비시키는 것이었는즉, 곧 다시 말해서 구원이 그들에게 임하도록 하며 그가 오실 때 말씀을 듣도록 그들 자녀들의 마음을 준비시키게 하는 것이었느니라.	And now, my son, this was the ministry unto which ye were called, to declare these glad tidings unto this people, to prepare their minds; or rather that salvation might come unto them, that they may prepare the minds of their children to hear the word at the time of his coming.
앨 39:17	또 이제 내가 이 문제에 관하여 어느 정도 네 마음을 편하게 해 주리라. 보라, 이러한 일이 왜 그처럼 오래 전에 알려져야 하는지 네가 기이히 여기도다. 보라, 내가 네게 말하노니, 이때의 영혼이 그가 오실 때의 영혼만큼이나 하나님께 귀하지 아니하냐?	And now I will ease your mind somewhat on this subject. Behold, you marvel why these things should be known so long beforehand. Behold, I say unto you, is not a soul at this time as precious unto God as a soul will be at the time of his coming?
앨 39:18	구속의 계획이 이 백성에게도 알려지는 것이 그들의 자손들에게 알려지는 것만큼이나 필요하지 아니하냐?	Is it not as necessary that the plan of redemption should be made known unto this people as well as unto their children?
앨 39:19	주께서 이때에 그의 천사를 보내사 우리에게 이 기쁜 소식을 선포하게 하심이 우리 자손들에게나, 또는 그가 오신 이후만큼이나 쉽지 아니하냐?	Is it not as easy at this time for the Lord to send his angel to declare these glad tidings unto us as unto our children, or as after the time of his coming?
