소개	앨마가 배도한 조램인들을 되돌리고자 선교 활동을 이끎 - 조램인들이 그리스도를 부인하고, 택하심에 관한 그릇된 개념을 믿고, 정해진 기도로 예배드림 - 선교사들이 성령으로 충만하게됨 - 그들의 고난은 그리스도의 기쁨 속에 삼켜짐. 주전 74년경.	Alma heads a mission to reclaim the apostate Zoramites—The Zoramites deny Christ, believe in a false concept of election, and worship with set prayers—The missionaries are filled with the Holy Spirit—Their afflictions are swallowed up in the joy of Christ. 앨 31:1	이제 이렇게 되었나니 코리호어의 종말 이후에, 앨마가 조램인들이 주의 길을 굽게 하고 있음과 그들의 지도자인 조램이 백성의 마음을 이끌어 말 못하는 우상에 절하게 한다는 소식을 받고, 백성들의 죄악으로 인하여 그 마음이 다시 상하기 시작하였더라.	NOW it came to pass that after the end of Korihor, Alma having received tidings that the Zoramites were perverting the ways of the Lord, and that Zoram, who was their leader, was leading the hearts of the people to bow down to dumb idols, his heart again began to sicken because of the iniquity of the people.
앨 31:2	이는 자기 백성 중의 죄악에 대하여 알게 됨이 앨마에게는 큰 슬픔의 까닭이 되었음이라. 그러므로 그의 마음은 조램인들이 니파이인들에게서 나누어진 일로 인하여 심히 슬펐더라.	For it was the cause of great sorrow to Alma to know of iniquity among his people; therefore his heart was exceedingly sorrowful because of the separation of the Zoramites from the Nephites.
앨 31:3	이제 조램인들은 그들이 앤티오눔이라 일컫는 땅에 함께 모였었나니, 이는 제이라헤믈라 땅의 동편이요, 이는 바닷가에 거의 접경하여 놓여 있으며, 이는 여어숀 땅의 남쪽이요, 이는 또한 남방 광야에 경계가 닿았으니, 이 광야에는 레이맨인들이 가득하였더라.	Now the Zoramites had gathered themselves together in a land which they called Antionum, which was east of the land of Zarahemla, which lay nearly bordering upon the seashore, which was south of the land of Jershon, which also bordered upon the wilderness south, which wilderness was full of the Lamanites.
앨 31:4	이제 니파이인들은 조램인들이 레이맨인들과 교제에 들어가게 될 것과, 그것이 니파이인들 편에 큰 손실의 방편이 될 것을 크게 두려워하였더라.	Now the Nephites greatly feared that the Zoramites would enter into a correspondence with the Lamanites, and that it would be the means of great loss on the part of the Nephites.
앨 31:5	또 이제 말씀의 전파가 백성을 인도하여 의로운 일을 하게 하는 큰 경향이 있으므로 - 참으로 그것은 칼이나 그들에게 일어났던 다른 어떠한 것보다, 백성들의 생각에 더 강력한 효과가 있었더라 - 그리하여 앨마는 그들이 하나님의 말씀의 능력을 시험하는 것이 마땅하다 생각하였더라.	And now, as the preaching of the word had a great tendency to lead the people to do that which was just—yea, it had had more powerful effect upon the minds of the people than the sword, or anything else, which had happened unto them—therefore Alma thought it was expedient that they should try the virtue of the word of God.
앨 31:6	그리하여 그는 암몬과 아론과 옴너를 취하고, 힘나이는 제이라헤믈라의 교회에 남겨 두었으나, 앞의 셋과 또한 밀렉에 있던 앰율레크와 지에즈롬을 자기와 함께 데리고 갔으며, 그가 또한 자기의 아들 중 둘을 취하였더라.	Therefore he took Ammon, and Aaron, and Omner; and Himni he did leave in the church in Zarahemla; but the former three he took with him, and also Amulek and Zeezrom, who were at Melek; and he also took two of his sons.
앨 31:7	이제 그의 아들 중 장남은 그가 자기와 함께 데리고 가지 아니하였나니, 그의 이름은 힐라맨이요, 그가 자기와 함께 데리고 간 자들의 이름은 시블론과 코리앤톤이니, 이는 조램인들에게 말씀을 전파하러, 그와 함께 조램인들 가운데로 갔던 자들의 이름이니라.	Now the eldest of his sons he took not with him, and his name was Helaman; but the names of those whom he took with him were Shiblon and Corianton; and these are the names of those who went with him among the Zoramites, to preach unto them the word.
앨 31:8	이제 조램인들은 니파이인에게서 이반한 자들이었으므로, 하나님의 말씀이 그들에게 전파되었었더라.	Now the Zoramites were dissenters from the Nephites; therefore they had had the word of God preached unto them.
앨 31:9	그러나 그들이 큰 잘못에 빠졌나니, 이는 그들이 모세의 율법을 좇아, 하나님의 계명과 그의 규례를 지켜 준행하려 아니하였으며,	But they had fallen into great errors, for they would not observe to keep the commandments of God, and his statutes, according to the law of Moses.
앨 31:10	유혹에 들지 않도록 매일 하나님께 기도와 간구를 계속하라 하는 교회의 의례를 지키려고도 아니하였음이라.	Neither would they observe the performances of the church, to continue in prayer and supplication to God daily, that they might not enter into temptation.
앨 31:11	참으로 요컨대 그들이 심히 많은 경우에 주의 길을 굽게 하였나니, 그러므로 이 까닭에 앨마와 그의 형제들이 그들에게 말씀을 전파하러 그 땅에 들어가게 되었더라.	Yea, in fine, they did pervert the ways of the Lord in very many instances; therefore, for this cause, Alma and his brethren went into the land to preach the word unto them.
앨 31:12	이제 저들이 그 땅에 들어와서, 보라, 놀랍게도 조램인들이 회당들을 지은 것과 그들이 주의 날이라 칭하는 바, 일 주 중 하루에 함께 모여 앨마와 그의 형제들이 결코 본 적이 없는 방식으로 예배하는 것을 발견하였더라.	Now, when they had come into the land, behold, to their astonishment they found that the Zoramites had built synagogues, and that they did gather themselves together on one day of the week, which day they did call the day of the Lord; and they did worship after a manner which Alma and his brethren had never beheld;
앨 31:13	이는 그들에게 그들의 회당 중앙에 쌓아 올린 한 자리가 있었음이니, 곧 설 자리라, 높기는 머리보다도 위며, 그 꼭대기는 오직 한 사람을 용납할 만 하더라.	For they had a place built up in the center of their synagogue, a place for standing, which was high above the head; and the top thereof would only admit one person.
앨 31:14	그러므로 누구든지 예배드리기를 원하는 자는 반드시 나아가 그 꼭대기에 서서, 하늘을 향하여 그 손을 내뻗고, 큰 소리로 외쳐 이르기를,	Therefore, whosoever desired to worship must go forth and stand upon the top thereof, and stretch forth his hands towards heaven, and cry with a loud voice, saying:
앨 31:15	거룩하고, 거룩하신 하나님이시여, 우리는 당신이 하나님이심을 믿사오며, 우리는 당신이 거룩하신 것과 당신이 전에도 영이시었고 지금도 영이시며 장차도 영원히 영이실 것을 믿사옵나이다.	Holy, holy God; we believe that thou art God, and we believe that thou art holy, and that thou wast a spirit, and that thou art a spirit, and that thou wilt be a spirit forever.
앨 31:16	거룩하신 하나님이시여, 우리는 당신이 우리를 우리 형제들에게서 구별하셨음을 믿사오며, 또 우리는 그 조상들의 유치함에 의하여 그들에게 전해 내려온 것, 곧 우리 형제들의 전통을 믿지 아니하고, 당신이 우리를 택하사 당신의 거룩한 자녀가 되게 하셨음을 믿사오니, 또한 당신은 그리스도가 없을 것을 우리에게 알게 하셨나이다.	Holy God, we believe that thou hast separated us from our brethren; and we do not believe in the tradition of our brethren, which was handed down to them by the childishness of their fathers; but we believe that thou hast elected us to be thy holy children; and also thou hast made it known unto us that there shall be no Christ.
앨 31:17	그러나 당신은 어제나 오늘이나 영원토록 동일하시오니, 당신은 우리를 선택하사, 우리로 구원을 얻게 하셨사오나, 반면에 우리 사방의 모든 자는 당신의 진노로써 지옥에 던짐을 받도록 선택함을 입었나니, 이 거룩함에 대하여, 하나님이시여, 우리가 감사드리나이다. 또 우리를 선택하사 우리로 우리 형제들의 어리석은 전통을 따라 이끌려 가지 않게 하신 것을 또한 당신께 감사드리오니, 그 전통은 정녕 그들의 마음으로 우리의 하나님, 곧 당신에게서 멀리 떠나 방황하게 하는 그리스도의 믿음에 그들을 얽매고 있나이다.	But thou art the same yesterday, today, and forever; and thou hast elected us that we shall be saved, whilst all around us are elected to be cast by thy wrath down to hell; for the which holiness, O God, we thank thee; and we also thank thee that thou hast elected us, that we may not be led away after the foolish traditions of our brethren, which doth bind them down to a belief of Christ, which doth lead their hearts to wander far from thee, our God.
앨 31:18	이에 다시 우리가 택하심을 입은 거룩한 백성인 것을, 하나님이시여, 당신께 감사드리나이다. 아멘 하더라.	And again we thank thee, O God, that we are a chosen and a holy people. Amen.
앨 31:19	이제 이렇게 되었나니 앨마와 그의 형제들과 그의 아들들이 이러한 기도를 듣고, 측량할 수 없을 만큼 놀랐더라.	Now it came to pass that after Alma and his brethren and his sons had heard these prayers, they were astonished beyond all measure.
앨 31:20	이는 보라, 모든 사람이 나아가 이 동일한 기도를 드림이더라.	For behold, every man did go forth and offer up these same prayers.
앨 31:21	이제 그 자리를 그들은 래미움프톰이라 하였으니, 해석한즉 거룩한 단이라.	Now the place was called by them Rameumptom, which, being interpreted, is the holy stand.
앨 31:22	이제 이 단에서 그들, 각 사람이 하나님께 똑같은 기도를 드리며, 그들이 그에게 택함을 받은 것과 그 형제들의 전통을 좇아 그들을 이끌어가지 아니하신 것과 그들이 아무것도 알지 못하는 장차 임할 일을 믿는데 그들의 마음을 빼앗기지 아니한 것을, 그들의 하나님께 감사하더라.	Now, from this stand they did offer up, every man, the selfsame prayer unto God, thanking their God that they were chosen of him, and that he did not lead them away after the tradition of their brethren, and that their hearts were not stolen away to believe in things to come, which they knew nothing about.
앨 31:23	이제 백성들이 모두 이러한 방식으로 감사를 드린 후, 그들의 집으로 돌아가며, 결코 다시는 그들의 하나님에 대하여 말하지 아니하기를, 거룩한 단으로 다시 함께 모여 그들의 방식대로 감사를 드리기까지 그리하더라.	Now, after the people had all offered up thanks after this manner, they returned to their homes, never speaking of their God again until they had assembled themselves together again to the holy stand, to offer up thanks after their manner.
앨 31:24	이제 앨마가 이를 보고 그 마음이 비통하였으니, 이는 그들이 사악하고 패역한 백성임을 그가 보았음이라, 참으로 그들의 마음은 금에, 또 은에, 또 온갖 좋은 물품에 있음을 그가 보았더라.	Now when Alma saw this his heart was grieved; for he saw that they were a wicked and a perverse people; yea, he saw that their hearts were set upon gold, and upon silver, and upon all manner of fine goods.
앨 31:25	그뿐 아니라 그들의 마음이 자고하여, 그 교만 중에 크게 자랑하게 되었음을 그가 또한 보았더라.	Yea, and he also saw that their hearts were lifted up unto great boasting, in their pride.
앨 31:26	이에 그가 하늘로 그 목소리를 높여, 부르짖어 이르되, 주여, 어느 때까지 주의 종들이 육체로 이 아래에 거하면서, 사람의 자녀들 가운데서 이토록 큰 간악함을 보게 하시려나이까?	And he lifted up his voice to heaven, and cried, saying: O, how long, O Lord, wilt thou suffer that thy servants shall dwell here below in the flesh, to behold such gross wickedness among the children of men?
앨 31:27	하나님이시여, 보시옵소서, 그들이 주께 부르짖사오나, 그들의 마음은 그들의 교만 속에 삼키웠나이다. 하나님이시여, 보시옵소서, 그들이 그 입으로는 주께 부르짖사오나, 반면 그들은 세상의 헛된 것으로 부풀어, 스스로 큰 체 하기에 이르렀나이다.	Behold, O God, they cry unto thee, and yet their hearts are swallowed up in their pride. Behold, O God, they cry unto thee with their mouths, while they are puffed up, even to greatness, with the vain things of the world.
앨 31:28	나의 하나님이시여, 그들의 값비싼 의복과 그들의 작은 고리들과 그들의 팔찌와 그들의 금패물과 그들을 꾸민 그들의 모든 귀한 것들을 보시옵소서 또 보옵소서, 그들의 마음이 그러한 것에 있거늘, 그들이 주께 부르짖어 아뢰기를, 다른 이들은 멸망할 것인 반면, 우리는 당신께 택함을 입은 백성이온즉, 하나님이시여, 우리가 당신께 감사드리나이다 하나이다.	Behold, O my God, their costly apparel, and their ringlets, and their bracelets, and their ornaments of gold, and all their precious things which they are ornamented with; and behold, their hearts are set upon them, and yet they cry unto thee and say—We thank thee, O God, for we are a chosen people unto thee, while others shall perish.
앨 31:29	그뿐 아니라 그들은 주께서 그들에게 그리스도가 없을 것이라고 알려 주셨다 하나이다.	Yea, and they say that thou hast made it known unto them that there shall be no Christ.
앨 31:30	오 주 하나님이시여, 어느 때까지 이 같은 간악함과 불신앙이 이 백성 가운데 있도록 두려 하시나이까? 주여, 내가 내 연약함을 감당하도록, 나에게 힘을 주시겠나이까. 이는 내가 연약하옵고, 이 백성 중의 그 같은 간악함이 내 영혼을 괴롭히는 연고니이다.	O Lord God, how long wilt thou suffer that such wickedness and infidelity shall be among this people? O Lord, wilt thou give me strength, that I may bear with mine infirmities. For I am infirm, and such wickedness among this people doth pain my soul.
앨 31:31	주여, 내 마음이 심히 슬프오니, 그리스도 안에서 내 영혼을 위로해 주시겠나이까. 주여, 나로 힘을 갖게 하사, 이 백성의 죄악으로 인하여, 내게 임할 이 고난들을 인내로써 받을 수 있게 하여 주시겠나이까.	O Lord, my heart is exceedingly sorrowful; wilt thou comfort my soul in Christ. O Lord, wilt thou grant unto me that I may have strength, that I may suffer with patience these afflictions which shall come upon me, because of the iniquity of this people.
앨 31:32	주여, 내 영혼을 위로하사, 나와 또한 나와 함께 한 내 동역자들에게 성공을 주시겠나이까 - 참으로 암몬과 아론과 옴너와 또한 앰율레크와 지에즈롬과 또한 나의 두 아들들 - 참으로 이들 모두를, 주여, 주께서 위로해 주시겠나이까. 참으로 그들의 영혼을 그리스도 안에서 위로해 주시겠나이까.	O Lord, wilt thou comfort my soul, and give unto me success, and also my fellow laborers who are with me—yea, Ammon, and Aaron, and Omner, and also Amulek and Zeezrom and also my two sons—yea, even all these wilt thou comfort, O Lord. Yea, wilt thou comfort their souls in Christ.
앨 31:33	저희로 힘을 갖게 하사, 이 백성의 죄악으로 인하여 저희에게 임할 고난을 그들이 감당할 수 있게 하여 주시겠나이까.	Wilt thou grant unto them that they may have strength, that they may bear their afflictions which shall come upon them because of the iniquities of this people.
앨 31:34	주여, 우리가 그리스도 안에서 저들을 다시 주께로 인도함에 있어 성공을 거두게 해 주시겠나이까.	O Lord, wilt thou grant unto us that we may have success in bringing them again unto thee in Christ.
앨 31:35	주여, 보시옵소서, 저들의 영혼은 귀하며, 저들 중 많은 자가 우리의 형제들이오니, 그러므로 주여, 우리에게 능력과 지혜를 주사, 우리로 이들 우리의 형제들을 다시 주께로 인도하게 하여 주시옵소서.	Behold, O Lord, their souls are precious, and many of them are our brethren; therefore, give unto us, O Lord, power and wisdom that we may bring these, our brethren, again unto thee.
앨 31:36	이제 이렇게 되었나니 앨마가 이 말을 하고 나서, 그 손을 자기와 함께 한 자들 모두의 위에 얹으니, 보라, 그가 그 손을 그들 위에 얹으매, 그들이 성령으로 충만하게 되니라.	Now it came to pass that when Alma had said these words, that he clapped his hands upon all them who were with him. And behold, as he clapped his hands upon them, they were filled with the Holy Spirit.
앨 31:37	그리고 그 후에 그들은 스스로를 위하여 무엇을 먹을까, 혹은 무엇을 마실까, 혹은 무엇을 입을까를 염려하지 않고 서로 헤어졌더라.	And after that they did separate themselves one from another, taking no thought for themselves what they should eat, or what they should drink, or what they should put on.
앨 31:38	이에 주께서 그들을 위하여 예비하사 그들로 주리지 않게 하시고, 목마르지도 않게 하셨으며, 또한 그들에게 힘을 주사, 그들이 겪는 여하한 고난도 다 그리스도의 기쁨 안에 삼키우게 하셨더라. 이제 이는 앨마의 기도대로였나니, 이는 그가 신앙으로 기도한 연고였더라.	And the Lord provided for them that they should hunger not, neither should they thirst; yea, and he also gave them strength, that they should suffer no manner of afflictions, save it were swallowed up in the joy of Christ. Now this was according to the prayer of Alma; and this because he prayed in faith.
