소개 지노스는 사람은 어느 곳에서나 기도하고 예배해야 하며 아들로 말미암아 심판이 돌이켜진다고 가르쳤음 - 지노크는 아들로 말미암아 자비가 내려진다고 가르쳤음 - 모세는 광야에서 하나님 아들의 예표를 들어올렸음. 주전 74년경. Zenos taught that men should pray and worship in all places, and that judgments are turned away because of the Son—Zenock taught that mercy is bestowed because of the Son—Moses had lifted up in the wilderness a type of the Son of God. [About 74 B.C.]
앨 33:1 이제 앨마가 이 말을 하고 난 뒤, 그들이 그에게 사람을 보내어 그가 말한 이 열매를 얻으려면 한 하나님을 믿어야 하는지, 곧 그들의 마음에 반드시 심어야 한다고 그가 말한 씨앗, 곧 말씀은 어떻게 심어야 하는지, 즉 어떠한 방식으로 그들의 신앙을 행사하기 시작해야 하는지 알고자 하였더라. NOW after Alma had spoken these words, they sent forth unto him desiring to know whether they should believe in one God, that they might obtain this fruit of which he had spoken, or how they should plant the seed, or the word of which he had spoken, which he said must be planted in their hearts; or in what manner they should begin to exercise their faith.
앨 33:2 이에 앨마가 그들에게 이르되, 보라, 너희의 말에 너희가 회당에서 쫓겨난 까닭에 너희의 하나님을 예배할 수 없다 하였으나, 보라, 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 만일 너희가 하나님을 예배할 수 없다고 생각한다면 너희는 크게 잘못하는 것이니, 너희는 경전을 상고해 보아야 하리라. 만일 너희가 경전이 이를 너희에게 가르쳤다고 생각한다면, 너희는 경전을 깨닫지 못하고 있는 것이니라. And Alma said unto them: Behold, ye have said that ye could not worship your God because ye are cast out of your synagogues. But behold, I say unto you, if ye suppose that ye cannot worship God, ye do greatly err, and ye ought to search the scriptures; if ye suppose that they have taught you this, ye do not understand them.
앨 33:3 너희는 옛 선지자 지노스가 기도 곧 예배에 관하여 무엇이라 말했는지 읽은 것을 기억하느냐?

Do ye remember to have read what Zenos, the prophet of old, has said concerning prayer or worship?
앨 33:4 이는 그가 말하기를, 하나님이시여, 내가 광야에 있을 때에도 내 기도를 들으셨사오니 자비로우시나이다. 참으로 내가 내 원수인 자들에 관하여 기도했을 때 긍휼히 여기시고, 그들을 내게로 돌리셨나이다. For he said: Thou art merciful, O God, for thou hast heard my prayer, even when I was in the wilderness; yea, thou wast merciful when I prayed concerning those who were mine enemies, and thou didst turn them to me.
앨 33:5 하나님이시여, 그뿐 아니라 내가 나의 밭에서 주께 부르짖었을 때 나를 긍휼히 여기셨사오니, 내가 나의 기도 중에 주께 부르짖었을 때, 나를 들으셨나이다. Yea, O God, and thou wast merciful unto me when I did cry unto thee in my field; when I did cry unto thee in my prayer, and thou didst hear me.
앨 33:6 그리고 또 하나님이시여, 내가 나의 집으로 돌이켰을 때 주는 내 기도 중에 나를 들으셨나이다. And again, O God, when I did turn to my house thou didst hear me in my prayer.
앨 33:7 또 주여, 내가 나의 골방으로 돌이켜 주께 기도했을 때, 나를 들으셨나이다. And when I did turn unto my closet, O Lord, and prayed unto thee, thou didst hear me.
앨 33:8 참으로 주께서는 주의 자녀들이 사람의 들음이 아니요 주의 들으심을 얻고자 주께 부르짖을 때 그들을 긍휼히 여기시오니, 그러므로 주께서 그들을 들으시리이다. Yea, thou art merciful unto thy children when they cry unto thee, to be heard of thee and not of men, and thou wilt hear them.
앨 33:9 참으로 하나님이시여, 나를 긍휼히 여기시고, 주의 회중 가운데서 나의 부르짖음을 들으셨나이다. Yea, O God, thou hast been merciful unto me, and heard my cries in the midst of thy congregations.
앨 33:10 또한 내가 쫓겨나 나의 원수들에게 멸시를 받을 때에도 나를 들으시되, 참으로 나의 부르짖음을 들으시고, 나의 원수들에게 진노하사, 분노 중에 신속한 멸망으로 그들을 벌하셨나이다. Yea, and thou hast also heard me when I have been cast out and have been despised by mine enemies; yea, thou didst hear my cries, and wast angry with mine enemies, and thou didst visit them in thine anger with speedy destruction.
앨 33:11 또 나의 고난과 나의 성실함으로 인하여 나를 들으셨사오며, 또 나를 그처럼 긍휼히 여기신 것은 주의 아들을 인한 것이오라. 그러므로 내가 나의 모든 고난 중에 주께 부르짖으오리니, 이는 주께 나의 기쁨이 있음이니이다. 이는 주의 아들로 말미암아 주의 심판을 내게서 돌이키셨음이니이다 하였음이니라. And thou didst hear me because of mine afflictions and my sincerity; and it is because of thy Son that thou hast been thus merciful unto me, therefore I will cry unto thee in all mine afflictions, for in thee is my joy; for thou hast turned thy judgments away from me, because of thy Son.
앨 33:12 또 이제 앨마가 그들에게 이르되, 너희는 옛 사람들이 기록한 저 경전들을 믿느냐? And now Alma said unto them: Do ye believe those scriptures which have been written by them of old?
앨 33:13 보라, 너희가 믿는다면, 지노스가 말한 것을 믿어야만 할지니, 이는 보라 그가 말하기를, 주의 아들로 말미암아 주의 심판을 돌이키셨나이다 하였음이라. Behold, if ye do, ye must believe what Zenos said; for, behold he said: Thou hast turned away thy judgments because of thy Son.
앨 33:14 이제 보라, 내 형제들아, 너희가 경전을 읽었는지 내가 묻고자 하노라. 그리하였다면 어찌 너희가 하나님의 아들을 믿지 않을 수 있느냐? Now behold, my brethren, I would ask if ye have read the scriptures? If ye have, how can ye disbelieve on the Son of God?
앨 33:15 이는 지노스 홀로 이러한 일에 대하여 말했다고 기록되지 아니하였음이니, 지노크 역시 이러한 일에 대하여 말하였느니라 - For it is not written that Zenos alone spake of these things, but Zenock also spake of these things—
앨 33:16 이는 보라, 그가 이르되, 주여, 주께서 이 백성에게 노하셨사오니, 이는 주께서 주의 아들로 인하여 그들에게 내리신 주의 자비를 그들이 깨닫고자 아니하는 연고로소이다 하였더라. For behold, he said: Thou art angry, O Lord, with this people, because they will not understand thy mercies which thou hast bestowed upon them because of thy Son.
앨 33:17 또 이제 내 형제들아, 너희가 보는 바 두 번째 옛 선지자가 하나님의 아들에 대하여 증거하였거니와, 백성들이 그의 말을 깨닫고자 아니한 고로 그들이 그를 돌로 쳐 죽였느니라. And now, my brethren, ye see that a second prophet of old has testified of the Son of God, and because the people would not understand his words they stoned him to death.
앨 33:18 그러나 보라, 이것이 모두가 아니니, 하나님의 아들에 관하여 말한 자가 이들뿐이 아니니라. But behold, this is not all; these are not the only ones who have spoken concerning the Son of God.
앨 33:19 보라, 모세가 그에 대하여 말하였을 뿐만 아니라, 보라 광야에서 한 예표가 들려서, 그것을 쳐다보는 자마다 살게 하였었나니, 이에 많은 사람들이 보고 살았느니라. Behold, he was spoken of by Moses; yea, and behold a type was raised up in the wilderness, that whosoever would look upon it might live. And many did look and live.
앨 33:20 그러나 그 일의 의미를 깨달은 자가 거의 없었으니, 이는 그들의 마음이 완악한 연고라. 그러나 심히 완악하게 되어서 보려고 아니한 자들이 많았나니, 그러므로 그들은 멸망하였느니라. 그들이 보려고 아니한 이유는 그것이 그들로 낫게 하리라고 믿지 아니한 까닭이라. But few understood the meaning of those things, and this because of the hardness of their hearts. But there were many who were so hardened that they would not look, therefore they perished. Now the reason they would not look is because they did not believe that it would heal them.
앨 33:21 내 형제들아, 너희가 낫도록 너희 눈길을 던지기만 함으로써 너희가 나을 수 있다면, 너희가 속히 바라보지 않겠느냐. 그렇지 아니하면 그보다는 믿지 않음 가운데 너희 마음을 완악하게 하고, 게으름을 피워, 너희 눈길을 던지지 않아 멸망당하겠느냐?

O my brethren, if ye could be healed by merely casting about your eyes that ye might be healed, would ye not behold quickly, or would ye rather harden your hearts in unbelief, and be slothful, that ye would not cast about your eyes, that ye might perish?
앨 33:22 만일 그렇다면 화가 너희에게 임할 것이라. 그러나 만일 그렇지 않다면 너희 눈길을 던져 하나님의 아들을 믿되, 곧 그가 자기 백성을 구속하러 오실 것과 또 그가 그들의 죄를 위하여 속죄하시기 위해 고난을 받고 죽으실 것과 또 그가 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 일어나실 것을 믿기 시작할지니, 이로써 부활이 이루어져, 모든 사람이 그의 앞에 서서 마지막 심판 날에 그들의 행위에 따라 심판을 받으리라.

If so, wo shall come upon you; but if not so, then cast about your eyes and begin to believe in the Son of God, that he will come to redeem his people, and that he shall suffer and die to atone for their sins; and that he shall rise again from the dead, which shall bring to pass the resurrection, that all men shall stand before him, to be judged at the last and judgment day, according to their works.
앨 33:23 또 이제 내 형제들아, 나는 너희가 이 말씀을 너희 마음에 심고 그것이 부풀기 시작할 때 너희의 신앙으로 이를 가꾸기 바라노라. 그리하면 보라, 이는 너희 안에서 영생에 이르도록, 솟아오르는 나무가 되리라. 또 그때에 하나님께서 그 아들의 기쁨을 통하여, 너희의 짐을 가볍게 해 주시기를 비노라. 또 만일 너희가 원하면 참으로 이 모두를 너희가 할 수 있느니라. 아멘. And now, my brethren, I desire that ye shall plant this word in your hearts, and as it beginneth to swell even so nourish it by your faith. And behold, it will become a tree, springing up in you unto everlasting life. And then may God grant unto you that your burdens may be light, through the joy of his Son. And even all this can ye do if ye will. Amen.
