앨 10:1 이제 이는 앰율레크가 앰몬아이하 땅에 있는 백성에게 전한 말이니 이르되, NOW these are the words which Amulek preached unto the people who were in the land of Ammonihah, saying:
앨 10:2 나는 앰율레크로라, 나는 긷도나의 아들이니, 긷도나는 이스마엘의 아들이며, 이스마엘은 아민아다이의 후손이니, 하나님의 손가락에 의해 쓰여진 성전 벽에 있는 글을 해석한 바로 그 아민아다이니라.

I am Amulek; I am the son of Giddonah, who was the son of Ishmael, who was a descendant of Aminadi; and it was that same Aminadi who interpreted the writing which was upon the wall of the temple, which was written by the finger of God.
앨 10:3 또 아민아다이는 리하이의 아들인 니파이의 후손이니, 리하이는 그 형제들의 손으로 애굽에 팔려간 요셉의 아들인 므낫세의 후손으로서, 예루살렘 땅에서 나왔느니라. And Aminadi was a descendant of Nephi, who was the son of Lehi, who came out of the land of Jerusalem, who was a descendant of Manasseh, who was the son of Joseph who was sold into Egypt by the hands of his brethren.
앨 10:4 또 보라, 나는 또한 나를 아는 모든 자 중에 적지 않은 명성을 지닌 자라, 그뿐 아니라 보라, 내게는 친척과 친구가 많으며, 나는 또한 나의 근면한 손으로 많은 부를 얻었노라. And behold, I am also a man of no small reputation among all those who know me; yea, and behold, I have many kindreds and friends, and I have also acquired much riches by the hand of my industry.
앨 10:5 그러나 이 모든 것에도 불구하고, 나는 주의 길과, 그의 비밀과 기이한 권능에 대하여 결코 많이 알지 못하였느니라. 내가 이러한 것에 대하여 결코 많이 알지 못하였다 하였으나, 보라, 이는 내가 잘못 말함이니, 이는 참으로 이 백성의 생명을 보전하심 중에 나타난 그의 비밀과 그의 기이한 권능을 내가 많이 보았음이니라. Nevertheless, after all this, I never have known much of the ways of the Lord, and his mysteries and marvelous power. I said I never had known much of these things; but behold, I mistake, for I have seen much of his mysteries and his marvelous power; yea, even in the preservation of the lives of this people.
앨 10:6 그럼에도 불구하고 나는 나의 마음을 완악하게 하여, 여러 번 부름을 받았으나 들으려 하지 아니하였나니, 그러므로 내가 이러한 일들에 관하여 알고 있었음에도, 내가 알려 하지 아니하였느니라. 그리하여 내가 판사 치세 제십년에 든, 이 제칠월의 넷째 날까지도 내 마음의 간악함 중에, 하나님 거역하기를 계속해 왔었노라. Nevertheless, I did harden my heart, for I was called many times and I would not hear; therefore I knew concerning these things, yet I would not know; therefore I went on rebelling against God, in the wickedness of my heart, even until the fourth day of this seventh month, which is in the tenth year of the reign of the judges.
앨 10:7 내가 아주 가까운 한 친척을 찾아 보려고 여행하고 있을 때, 보라 주의 한 천사가 내게 나타나 이르되, 앰율레크야, 네 집으로 돌아가라, 이는 네가 주의 한 선지자를 먹여야 할 것임이니, 그는 참으로 하나님의 택하신 사람인 거룩한 사람이니라. 이는 이 백성의 죄로 인하여 그가 여러날 금식하여, 이제 주림이니, 네가 그를 네 집에 영접하여 먹이라. 그가 너와 네 집을 축복하리니 주의 복이 너와 네 집에 머물러 있으리라 하더라.

As I was journeying to see a very near kindred, behold an angel of the Lord appeared unto me and said: Amulek, return to thine own house, for thou shalt feed a prophet of the Lord; yea, a holy man, who is a chosen man of God; for he has fasted many days because of the sins of this people, and he is an hungered, and thou shalt receive him into thy house and feed him, and he shall bless thee and thy house; and the blessing of the Lord shall rest upon thee and thy house.
앨 10:8 이에 이렇게 되었나니 내가 천사의 음성에 순종하여, 내 집을 향하여 돌아왔고, 내가 그리로 가다가 천사가 내게 이르기를 네 집에 영접하라 한 그 사람을 발견하였노니 - 보라 그는 하나님의 것에 관하여 너희에게 말하고 있는 바로 이 사람이었느니라. And it came to pass that I obeyed the voice of the angel, and returned towards my house. And as I was going thither I found the man whom the angel said unto me: Thou shalt receive into thy house—and behold it was this same man who has been speaking unto you concerning the things of God.
앨 10:9 또 천사가 내게 이르기를 그는 거룩한 사람이라 하였나니, 그러므로 그가 거룩한 사람인 줄 내가 아는 것은 하나님의 천사가 그렇게 말하였기 때문이니라. And the angel said unto me he is a holy man; wherefore I know he is a holy man because it was said by an angel of God.
앨 10:10 그리고 또 나는 그가 증거한 일들이 참된 줄을 아노니, 이는 보라 내가 너희에게 이르거니와, 주께서 사심같이, 주께서 그 천사를 보내사 이러한 일들을 나에게 나타내 주셨음이라. 그리고 이 앨마가 내 집에 거하는 동안 주께서 이를 행하셨느니라. And again, I know that the things whereof he hath testified are true; for behold I say unto you, that as the Lord liveth, even so has he sent his angel to make these things manifest unto me; and this he has done while this Alma hath dwelt at my house.
앨 10:11 이는 보라, 그는 내 집을 축복하였나니, 그가 나와 나의 여자들과 나의 자녀들과 나의 부친과 나의 친족을 축복하되, 참으로 나의 온 혈족을 그가 축복하매, 주의 복이 그가 한 말대로 우리에게 머물렀느니라. For behold, he hath blessed mine house, he hath blessed me, and my women, and my children, and my father and my kinsfolk; yea, even all my kindred hath he blessed, and the blessing of the Lord hath rested upon us according to the words which he spake.
앨 10:12 이에 이제 앰율레크가 이러한 말을 하고 나자 백성들이 놀라기 시작하였으니, 그들이 고소당하는 사유에 대하여 증거하며, 또한 자기 안에 있는 예언의 영을 좇아, 장차 임할 일에 대하여 증거하는 증인이 하나만이 아님을 봄이더라. And now, when Amulek had spoken these words the people began to be astonished, seeing there was more than one witness who testified of the things whereof they were accused, and also of the things which were to come, according to the spirit of prophecy which was in them.
앨 10:13 그럼에도 불구하고 백성 가운데는 그들에게 질문하여, 자기의 간교한 책략으로 그들을 그 말 중에 사로잡아 그들을 치는 증거를 찾고, 그리하여 그들을 그들의 판사들에게 넘겨 법에 따라 재판을 받게 하며, 그들이 꾸미거나 그들을 쳐서 증거 할 수 있는 죄목을 따라, 그들로 죽임을 당하게 하거나 옥에 던져지게 하려고 생각하는 자들이 몇이 있었더라. Nevertheless, there were some among them who thought to question them, that by their cunning devices they might catch them in their words, that they might find witness against them, that they might deliver them to their judges that they might be judged according to the law, and that they might be slain or cast into prison, according to the crime which they could make appear or witness against them.
앨 10:14 이제 이들은 그들을 멸하기를 꾀하는 자들이었나니, 이들은 백성들에게 고용되거나 임명되어 판사 앞에서 그들이 재판 받을 때에, 곧 백성들의 범죄를 재판함에 있어, 법을 베푸는 율법사들이었더라. Now it was those men who sought to destroy them, who were lawyers, who were hired or appointed by the people to administer the law at their times of trials, or at the trials of the crimes of the people before the judges.
앨 10:15 이제 이들 율법사들은 백성의 모든 술책과 간계를 배웠나니, 이는 그들로 하여금 그들의 직업에 능숙하게 해 주는 것이었더라. Now these lawyers were learned in all the arts and cunning of the people; and this was to enable them that they might be skilful in their profession.
앨 10:16 이에 이렇게 되었나니 그들이 앰율레크에게 질문하기 시작하였으니, 그리함으로써 그로 하여금 자기 말에 책잡히게 하려 하였으니, 곧 자기가 하게 될 말에 모순되게 하려 함이더라. And it came to pass that they began to question Amulek, that thereby they might make him cross his words, or contradict the words which he should speak.
앨 10:17 이제 그들은 앰율레크가 그들의 계략을 알 수 있다는 것을 알지 못하였더라. 이에 이렇게 되었나니 그들이 그에게 질문하기 시작하매, 그가 그들의 생각을 알고 그들에게 이르되, 오 너희 악하고 패역한 세대여, 너희 율법사들과 위선자들이여, 이는 너희가 악마의 기초를 놓고 있음이니, 이는 너희가 하나님의 거룩한 자를 잡으려고 덫과 올무를 놓고 있음이니라. Now they knew not that Amulek could know of their designs. But it came to pass as they began to question him, he perceived their thoughts, and he said unto them: O ye wicked and perverse generation, ye lawyers and hypocrites, for ye are laying the foundations of the devil; for ye are laying traps and snares to catch the holy ones of God.
앨 10:18 너희는 의의 길을 굽게 하며, 하나님의 진노를 너희 머리 위에 초래하여, 실로 이 백성을 온전히 멸망하게 하려는 계획을 세우고 있도다.

Ye are laying plans to pervert the ways of the righteous, and to bring down the wrath of God upon your heads, even to the utter destruction of this people.
앨 10:19 참으로 우리의 마지막 왕이었던 모사이야가 잘 말하였나니, 그가 나라를 넘겨 주려 할 즈음에, 이를 물려 줄 자가 없어, 이 백성으로 하여금 그들 스스로의 소리에 의해 다스림을 받게 할 적에 - 참으로 그가 잘 말하였나니 곧 만일 이 백성의 소리가 죄악을 택할 때가 이르면, 즉 만일 이 백성이 범법에 빠질 때가 이르면, 그들의 멸망이 무르익으리라 하였느니라. Yea, well did Mosiah say, who was our last king, when he was about to deliver up the kingdom, having no one to confer it upon, causing that this people should be governed by their own voices—yea, well did he say that if the time should come that the voice of this people should choose iniquity, that is, if the time should come that this people should fall into transgression, they would be ripe for destruction.
앨 10:20 또 이제 내가 너희에게 말하노니 주께서 너희의 죄악을 잘 판단하시는도다. 그가 그 천사들의 음성으로 이 백성에게 잘 외치시는도다. 이르시되, 너희는 회개하라, 회개하라, 천국이 가까웠음이니라 하시느니라. And now I say unto you that well doth the Lord judge of your iniquities; well doth he cry unto this people, by the voice of his angels: Repent ye, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
앨 10:21 참으로 그가 그 천사들의 음성으로 잘 외치시는도다. 이르시되, 내가 공평과 정의를 내 손에 들고, 내 백성 가운데로 내려가리라 하시도다. Yea, well doth he cry, by the voice of his angels that: I will come down among my people, with equity and justice in my hands.
앨 10:22 이뿐 아니라 내가 너희에게 이르노니 지금 이 땅에 있는 의인들의 기도가 아니었더라면, 너희에게는 지금 완전한 멸망이 임할 것이로되, 이는 노아의 시대에 백성이 그리되었던 것같이, 홍수에 의한 멸망이 아니요, 기근과 역병과 검에 의한 멸망일 것이니라. Yea, and I say unto you that if it were not for the prayers of the righteous, who are now in the land, that ye would even now be visited with utter destruction; yet it would not be by flood, as were the people in the days of Noah, but it would be by famine, and by pestilence, and the sword.
앨 10:23 그러나 너희가 면하고 있는 것은 의인들의 기도에 의한 것이니, 그러므로 이제 만일 너희가 너희 가운데서 의인들을 내어 쫓으면 주께서는 그 손을 억제하지 아니하시고, 그 맹렬한 노여움 중에 너희를 치러 나오실 것이라. 그때 너희가 기근과 역병과 검으로 치심을 입으리니, 너희가 회개하지 아니할진대 그때가 곧 가까이 이르리라. But it is by the prayers of the righteous that ye are spared; now therefore, if ye will cast out the righteous from among you then will not the Lord stay his hand; but in his fierce anger he will come out against you; then ye shall be smitten by famine, and by pestilence, and by the sword; and the time is soon at hand except ye repent.
앨 10:24 이에 이제 이렇게 되었나니 백성들이 앰율레크에게 더욱 노하여 소리 질러 이르되, 이 자가 공의로운 우리의 법과 우리가 선택한 우리의 현명한 율법사들에게 대하여 욕하는도다 하였더라. And now it came to pass that the people were more angry with Amulek, and they cried out, saying: This man doth revile against our laws which are just, and our wise lawyers whom we have selected.
앨 10:25 그러나 앰율레크가 그 손을 내밀고, 그들에게 더욱 힘차게 외쳐 이르되, 오 너희 악하고 패역한 세대여, 어찌하여 사탄이 너희 마음을 그토록 크게 붙잡았느냐? 어찌하여 너희는 그에게 스스로를 내어 맡겨 그로 너희를 다스릴 권능을 갖게 하고, 너희의 눈을 멀게 하여, 우리가 하는 말을 너희가 그 진리대로 깨닫지 못하게 하려 하느냐? But Amulek stretched forth his hand, and cried the mightier unto them, saying: O ye wicked and perverse generation, why hath Satan got such great hold upon your hearts? Why will ye yield yourselves unto him that he may have power over you, to blind your eyes, that ye will not understand the words which are spoken, according to their truth?
앨 10:26 보라, 내가 너희의 법이 그릇되다 증거하더냐? 너희가 깨닫지 못하는 도다. 너희 말이 내가 너희의 법을 거스려 말하였다 하도다. 그러나 내가 그리하지 아니하였으며, 도리어 내가 너희의 법을 인정하여 말함으로써, 너희를 정죄하였느니라. For behold, have I testified against your law? Ye do not understand; ye say that I have spoken against your law; but I have not, but I have spoken in favor of your law, to your condemnation.
앨 10:27 또 이제 보라, 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 이 백성의 멸망의 기초가 너희의 율법사들과 너희의 판사들의 불의로 놓이기 시작하고 있느니라. And now behold, I say unto you, that the foundation of the destruction of this people is beginning to be laid by the unrighteousness of your lawyers and your judges.
앨 10:28 이에 이제 이렇게 되었나니 앰율레크가 이러한 말을 하고 나자 백성들이 그에게 소리 질러 이르되, 이제 우리는 이 자가 악마의 자식인 줄 아노니, 이는 그가 우리에게 거짓말을 하였고, 우리의 법을 거스려 말하였음이라. 그런데 이제 그가 말하기를 우리의 법을 거스려 말하지 아니하였다 하는도다. And now it came to pass that when Amulek had spoken these words the people cried out against him, saying: Now we know that this man is a child of the devil, for he hath lied unto us; for he hath spoken against our law. And now he says that he has not spoken against it.
앨 10:29 그리고 또 그는 우리의 율법사들과 우리의 판사들을 욕 하였도다 하더라. And again, he has reviled against our lawyers, and our judges.
앨 10:30 이에 이렇게 되었나니 율법사들이 그를 대하여 이러한 일들을 기억할 것을 자기들의 마음 속에 넣어두니라. And it came to pass that the lawyers put it into their hearts that they should remember these things against him.
앨 10:31 또 그들 가운데 이름이 지에즈롬이라 하는 자가 있더니, 그는 그들 가운데 가장 노련한 자들 중 하나요, 백성 가운데 많은 일거리를 가진 자로, 이제 앰율레크와 앨마를 고소하는 일에 앞장섰더라. And there was one among them whose name was Zeezrom. Now he was the foremost to accuse Amulek and Alma, he being one of the most expert among them, having much business to do among the people.
앨 10:32 이제 이 율법사들의 목적은 이득을 얻는 것이었으니, 그들이 이득을 얻음은 그들의 고용된 정도에 따랐더라. Now the object of these lawyers was to get gain; and they got gain according to their employ.
