 Wickedness and abominations increase among the people—The Nephites and Lamanites unite to defend themselves against the Gadianton robbers—Converted Lamanites become white and are called Nephites. [Between A.D. 5 and 15]  니파이인들의 타락. 백색 레이맨인. 도적과 살인자의 무리를 방비하기 위하여 니파이인과 레이맨인들이 연합함.
3니 2:1 또 이렇게 되었나니 이같이 제구십오년도 지나갔고, 백성들은 들은 바 표적과 기사를 잊기 시작하며, 하늘로서 오는 표적과 기사에 점점 더 놀라지 않기 시작하더니, 마침내 그 마음이 완악하여지고, 그 생각이 어두워져서 그들이 듣고 본 모든 것을 믿지 않기 시작하여 -

 

 And it came to pass that thus passed away the ninety and fifth year also, and the people began to forget those signs and wonders which they had heard, and began to be less and less astonished at a sign or a wonder from heaven, insomuch that they began to be hard in their hearts, and blind in their minds, and began to disbelieve all which they had heard and seen-  2:1.치세 구십 오년이 역시 이같이 지나 백성들은 저들이 친히 들은 표적과 기사를 잊기 시작하였고, 점차로 하늘로부터 보여지는 표적과 기사를 놀라워하지 않더니, 마침내 마음을 강퍅하게 하고 마음을 어둡게 하여 저들이 보고 들은 바 모두를 믿지 아니하며,
3니 2:2 그 마음에 어떤 헛된 것을 상상하기를, 그것은 사람들에 의하여 또 악마의 권능에 의하여 이루어진 것으로, 백성들의 마음을 이끌어 내며 미혹하게 하려는 것이라 하였으니, 이같이 사탄이 다시 백성들의 마음을 차지하여 그들의 눈을 멀게 하고, 그들을 이끌어 내어 그리스도의 교리가 어리석고 헛된 것이라고 믿게 하였더라.

 

 Imagining up some vain thing in their hearts, that it was wrought by men and by the power of the devil, to lead away and deceive the hearts of the people; and thus did Satan get possession of the hearts of the people again, insomuch that he did blind their eyes and lead them away to believe that the doctrine of Christ was a foolish and a vain thing.  2:2.이러한 것들이 모두 사람의 마음을 속여 유혹하려는 사람들과 악마에 의하여 전해진 것이라 저들이 마음으로 헛되이 생각하였으니, 이는 사탄이 다시 저들의 마음을 사로잡아 저들의 눈을 멀게 하고 유혹하여, 그리스도의 가르침을 믿음이 어리석고 헛된 일이라고 믿게 하였음이라.
3니 2:3 이에 이렇게 되었나니 백성들은 간악함과 가증함이 점차 굳어지기 시작하여, 표적이나 기사가 더 이상 주어질 것을 믿지 아니하였고, 사탄은 돌아다니며 백성들의 마음을 이끌어 내며, 그들을 유혹하고 그들로 하여금 그 땅에서 큰 간악함을 행하게 하였더라.

 

 And it came to pass that the people began to wax strong in wickedness and abominations; and they did not believe that there should be any more signs or wonders given; and Satan did go about, leading away the hearts of the people, tempting them and causing them that they should do great wickedness in the land.  2:3.그러므로 백성들의 간악함과 가증함이 다시 굳어져서 표적이나 기사를 더 믿으려 하지 않았고, 사탄이 이르러 백성들의 마음을 꾀어 그 땅에서 크게 간악한 일들을 행하게 하니라.
3니 2:4 이같이 제구십육년이 지나갔고, 제구십칠년도 그러하였으며, 제구십팔년도 그러하였으며, 제구십구년도 그러하였더라.

 

 And thus did pass away the ninety and sixth year; and also the ninety and seventh year; and also the ninety and eighth year; and also the ninety and ninth year;  2:4.치세 구십 육년이 이같이 지났으며, 구십 칠년과 구십 팔년과 구십 구년이 모두 그러하였더라.
3니 2:5 이에 니파이 백성의 왕이었던 모사이야의 시대 이래로 백 년이 지나갔더라.

 

 And also an hundred years had passed away since the days of Mosiah, who was king over the people of the Nephites.  2:5.그리하여 니파이 백성들의 모사이야 왕이 다스리던 때로부터 백년이 지났고,
3니 2:6 또 리하이가 예루살렘을 떠난 이래로는 육백구 년이 지나갔더라.

 

 And six hundred and nine years had passed away since Lehi left Jerusalem.  2:6.리하이가 예루살렘을 떠난 해로부터 육백 구년이 지났으며,
3니 2:7 그리고 선지자들이 말한 바 곧 그리스도께서 세상에 오시는 표적이 주어진 때로부터는 구 년이 지나갔느니라.

 

 And nine years had passed away from the time when the sign was given, which was spoken of by the prophets, that Christ should come into the world.  2:7.그리스도가 세상에 태어 나시리라고 예언자들이 이야기한 바 그 표적이 보여진 해로부터 구년이 지난때라.
3니 2:8 이제 니파이인들은 표적이 주어진 이 시기, 곧 그리스도의 오심으로부터 그들의 때를 세기 시작하였나니 그러므로 구 년이 지나갔느니라.

 

 Now the Nephites began to reckon their time from this period when the sign was given, or from the coming of Christ; therefore, nine years had passed away.  2:8.니파이 백성들은 표적이 보여진때, 곧 그리스도가 오신 날로부터 날을 헤아리기 시작하였으매 구년이 지난 것이라.
3니 2:9 그리고 기록을 맡은 니파이의 부친인 니파이는 제이라헤믈라 땅으로 돌아오지 아니하였고, 온 땅 어느 곳에서도 찾을 수 없었더라.

 

 And Nephi, who was the father of Nephi, who had the charge of the records, did not return to the land of Zarahemla, and could nowhere be found in all the land.  2:9.온갖 기록을 맡아 보존해 오던 니파이의 부친 니파이가 제이라헤믈라 땅으로 돌아 오지 아니하였고, 어느 곳에서도 그를 찾을 길이 없었으며,
3니 2:10 또 이렇게 되었나니 백성들은 많은 가르침과 예언함이 그들 중에 보내어졌음에도 불구하고, 여전히 간악함 중에 머물러 있었고, 제십년도 이같이 지나갔으며, 제십일년도 죄악 가운데 지나가니라.

 

 And it came to pass that the people did still remain in wickedness, notwithstanding the much preaching and prophesying which was sent among them; and thus passed away the tenth year also; and the eleventh year also passed away in iniquity.  2:10.백성들에게 많은 가르침과 예언이 전하여졌음에도 저들은 계속하여 간악한 짓을 행하였으니, 이같이 십년이 지났고 십 일년도 죄 가운데 지났느니라.
3니 2:11 그리고 이렇게 되었나니 제십삼년에 온 땅에 전쟁과 분쟁이 일어나기 시작하였더라. 이는 개다이앤톤 도적들이 심히 많아져서, 백성을 심히 많이 죽이고, 심히 많은 성읍들을 황폐하게 하며, 온 땅에 심히 많은 죽음과 큰 살육을 만연시키므로, 니파이인이나 레이맨인이나를 막론하고 모든 백성이 그들을 대적하여 무기를 들어야 할 필요가 생겼음이라.

 

 And it came to pass in the thirteenth year there began to be wars and contentions throughout all the land; for the Gadianton robbers had become so numerous, and did slay so many of the people, and did lay waste so many cities, and did spread so much death and carnage throughout the land, that it became expedient that all the people, both the Nephites and the Lamanites, should take up arms against them.

3니 2:12 이리하여 주께로 돌이킨 모든 레이맨인들이 다 그 형제인 니파이인들과 연합하고, 또 그들의 생명과 그들의 여자들과 그들의 자녀들의 안전을 위하여, 또한 그들의 권리와 그들의 교회의 특권과 그들의 예배의 특권과 그들의 자유와 해방을 지키기 위하여, 어찌할 수 없이 저 개다이앤톤 도적들을 대적하여 무기를 들지 않을 수 없게 되었더라.

 

 Therefore, all the Lamanites who had become converted unto the Lord did unite with their brethren, the Nephites, and were compelled, for the safety of their lives and their women and their children, to take up arms against those Gadianton robbers, yea, and also to maintain their rights, and the privileges of their church and of their worship, and their freedom and their liberty.  2:12.주 앞에 개심하여 온 모든 레이맨인들은 저들의 형제인 니파이인들과 단합하여, 저들 자신과 처자들의 생명을 지켜 구하고자 개다이앤톤 도적단을 대적하여 무기를 들었으니, 이는 또한 저들의 교회를 지키고 예배를 드릴 수 있는 권리와 특권을 지키려 함이었고 저들의 평화와 자유를 지키려 함이었더라.
3니 2:13 또 이렇게 되었나니 이 제십삼년이 지나기 전에 니파이인들은 심히 치열하였던 이 전쟁으로 인하여 온전히 멸망당할 위기에 처하였더라.

 

 And it came to pass that before this thirteenth year had passed away the Nephites were threatened with utter destruction because of this war, which had become exceedingly sore.  2:13.전쟁이 극심하여 짐에, 십 삼년째 해가 다 지나기 전에 니파이인들은 이 전쟁으로 하여 완전히 멸망되지 않을까 하여 크게 두려워하게 되었고,
3니 2:14 또 이렇게 되었나니 니파이인들과 연합한 그 레이맨인들은 니파이인들 가운데 헤아림을 받았으며,

 

 And it came to pass that those Lamanites who had united with the Nephites were numbered among the Nephites;  2:14.니파이인들과 연합한 레이맨인들은 니파이인들과 더불어 니파이인으로 헤아림을 받았으니,
3니 2:15 또 그들의 저주가 그들에게서 거두어져 그들의 피부가 니파이인들처럼 희게 되었더라.

 

 And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites;  2:15.저들의 저주가 사하심을 얻어 저들의 피부가 니파이인들과 같이 희게 되었으며,
3니 2:16 그리고 그들의 청년들과 그들의 딸들은 심히 아름다워졌으며, 그들은 니파이인 가운데 헤아림을 받고, 니파이인이라 일컬음을 받았더라. 이같이 제십삼년이 끝났느니라.

 

 And their young men and their daughters became exceedingly fair, and they were numbered among the Nephites, and were called Nephites. And thus ended the thirteenth year.  2:16.저들의 젊은 남자와 딸들은 심히 아름다웠고, 니파이인과 더불어 헤아려지며 니파이인이라 일컬어지니라. 십 삼년이 이같이 끝나니라.
3니 2:17 또 이렇게 되었나니 제십사년 초에, 도적들과 니파이 백성 사이의 전쟁이 계속되고 심히 치열해졌으나, 그럼에도 불구하고 니파이 백성들이 도적들보다 어느 정도 우위를 점하였던지라, 그들을 자신들의 땅에서 산과 그들의 은신처로 몰아 내었더라.

 

 And it came to pass in the commencement of the fourteenth year, the war between the robbers and the people of Nephi did continue and did become exceedingly sore; nevertheless, the people of Nephi did gain some advantage of the robbers, insomuch that they did drive them back out of their lands into the mountains and into their secret places.  2:17.십 사년초에 도적단과 니파이인들간의 싸움은 극히 치열해졌고, 니파이 백성들이 유리한 전세를 얻으매 도적단을 그 땅에서 몰아 내어 산이나 저들의 은신처로 몰아 내었으니,
3니 2:18 또 이같이 제십사년이 끝났느니라. 그리고 제십오년에 그들이 니파이 백성을 치러 나아왔는데, 니파이 백성들의 간악함과 그들의 많은 분쟁과 불화로 인하여, 개다이앤톤 도적들이 그들에 대해 상당한 우위를 점하니라.

 

 And thus ended the fourteenth year. And in the fifteenth year they did come forth against the people of Nephi; and because of the wickedness of the people of Nephi, and their many contentions and dissensions, the Gadianton robbers did gain many advantages over them.  2:18.이같이 십 사년이 끝났고, 십오년에는 다시 저들이 니파이 백성들에게 쳐들어 왔으니, 당시 니파이 백성들은 더욱 간악하여졌고, 또한 많은 불화와 분쟁이 있었던지라 개다이앤톤 도적단에게 크게 패하였느니라.
3니 2:19 이같이 제십오년이 끝나고, 이같이 백성들은 많은 고난의 상태에 처하였으며, 멸망의 칼이 그들 위에 걸린지라, 바야흐로 그들이 이로써 치심을 입어 멸망하기에 이르렀으니, 이 일은 곧 그들의 죄악으로 말미암은 것이더라.

 

 And thus ended the fifteenth year, and thus were the people in a state of many afflictions; and the sword of destruction did hang over them, insomuch that they were about to be smitten down by it, and this because of their iniquity.  2:19.십 오년이 이같이 지났고 백성들은 무수한 고난을 당하게 되었으며, 멸망의 칼날이 저들 위에 걸려 있어 바야흐로 이에 맞을 위기에 처하게 되었으니, 이 모든 일이 다 저들의 간악함으로 인한 것이었더라.
