3니 6:1 이에 이제 이렇게 되었나니 니파이인 백성들이 제이십육년에, 각기 그 가족 그 양 떼와 그 소 떼 그 말들과 그 소들과 무릇 자기들에게 속한 모든 것을 가지고 자기의 땅으로 다 돌아갔더라.

 

 And now it came to pass that the people of the Nephites did all return to their own lands in the twenty and sixth year, every man, with his family, his flocks and his herds, his horses and his cattle, and all things whatsoever did belong unto them.  6:1.주후 이십 육년에 이르러 모든 니파이 백성들은 각기 저들의 가족과 양떼와 가축과 말과 소와 온갖 소유를 가지고 저들의 처소로 돌아갔으니,
3니 6:2 또 이렇게 되었나니 그들이 그들의 식량을 다 먹어 버리지 아니하였으므로, 그들이 먹지 아니한 모든 것, 곧 각종 모든 곡물과 그들의 금과 그들의 은과 그들의 모든 귀한 것들을 가지고, 북쪽과 남쪽 북방 땅과 남방 땅에 있는 그들의 땅과 그들의 소유지로 돌아갔더라.

 

 And it came to pass that they had not eaten up all their provisions; therefore they did take with them all that they had not devoured, of all their grain of every kind, and their gold, and their silver, and all their precious things, and they did return to their own lands and their possessions, both on the north and on the south, both on the land northward and on the land southward.  6:2.군량을 모두 먹어 버리지 아니하였으매, 먹지 않고 남겨 둔 온갖 곡물과 또한 금, 은, 보화를 가지고 북으로 남으로, 북 쪽 땅과 남 쪽 땅을 찾아 저마다 저들의 땅, 저들의 처소로 돌아 갔으며,
3니 6:3 또 그들이, 그 땅의 평화를 지키기로 언약을 맺은 도적들 중 그대로 레이맨인으로 지내기를 원하는 자들에게, 그들의 수효를 따라 땅을 주어 스스로 일함으로써 살아 갈 수단을 갖게 하여 주었나니, 이리하여 그들이 그 온 땅에 평화를 이룩하였더라.

 

 And they granted unto those robbers who had entered into a covenant to keep the peace of the land, who were desirous to remain Lamanites, lands, according to their numbers, that they might have, with their labors, wherewith to subsist upon; and thus they did establish peace in all the land.  6:3.늘 평화를 지키겠다는 맹세를 한 도적의 무리 중 그 땅에 남아 레이맨인이 되기를 원하는 자들에게는 그 수효대로 땅을 분배하여 주어 스스로 일하여 살아 갈 수 있게 하여 주었고, 온 나라가 다시 평화로워졌더라.
3니 6:4 그리고 그들이 다시 번영하며 점차 강대하여지기 시작하였고, 제이십육년과 칠년이 지나가매 그 땅에 훌륭한 질서가 있었으니, 그들은 공평과 정의를 좇아 그들의 법을 만들었더라.

 

 And they began again to prosper and to wax great; and the twenty and sixth and seventh years passed away, and there was great order in the land; and they had formed their laws according to equity and justice.  6:4.이같이 저들은 또다시 번영하여 강대하여졌고, 이십 육년과 이십 칠년이 지나면서 나라에 온갖 질서가 바로 잡혀 바르고 공의로운 국법이 제정되었으며,
3니 6:5 이제 백성들이 범법에 빠지지 않는 한, 그들이 계속하여 번영하는 것을 방해할 만한 일이 온 땅에 하나도 없었도다.

 

 And now there was nothing in all the land to hinder the people from prospering continually, except they should fall into transgression.  6:5.백성들이 범법에만 빠지지 않는다면 저들의 끊임 없는 번영을 방해할 만한 일이 전혀 없었으니,
3니 6:6 그리고 이제 땅에 이 큰 평화를 이룩한 이들은 기드긷도나이와, 판사 레이코니우스와, 지도자로 임명된 자들이었더라.

 

 And now it was Gidgiddoni, and the judge, Lachoneus, and those who had been appointed leaders, who had established this great peace in the land.  6:6.나라에 이토록 놀라운 평화가 이루어진 것은 기드기드도나이와 대판사 레이코니우스와 지도자로 임명된 자들로 말미암음이라.
3니 6:7 또 이렇게 되었나니 많은 성읍들이 새로이 건축되었고, 많은 오래된 성읍들이 수축되었더라.

 

 And it came to pass that there were many cities built anew, and there were many old cities repaired.  6:7.많은 성읍이 새로이 건립되고, 수많은 낡은 성읍을 증축하였고,
3니 6:8 또 성읍과 성읍 또 땅과 땅 그리고 각처를 연결하는 많은 대로가 쌓아 올려지고, 많은 길이 만들어졌더라.

 

 And there were many highways cast up, and many roads made, which led from city to city, and from land to land, and from place to place.  6:8.성읍과 성읍, 땅과 땅, 그리고 처소를 연결하는 많은 대로와 작은 길이 닦아지고 열렸느니라.
3니 6:9 이같이 제이십팔년이 지나가고, 백성들은 계속하여 평화를 누렸더라.

 

 And thus passed away the twenty and eighth year, and the people had continual peace.  6:9.이같이 이십 팔년이 지났으나 백성들은 끊임없이 평화를 누리더라.
3니 6:10 그러나 이렇게 되었나니 제이십구년에 백성 중에 얼마간의 논쟁이 생기기 시작하더니, 어떤 이들이 그들의 심히 큰 부로 인하여 자고하여 교만하며 자랑하기에 이르렀으니, 참으로 큰 핍박을 하기에 이르렀더라.

 

But it came to pass in the twenty and ninth year there began to be some disputings among the people; and some were lifted up unto pride and boastings because of their exceedingly great riches, yea, even unto great persecutions;

 For there were many merchants in the land, and also many lawyers, and many officers.  6:11.나라에 상인과 서기관과 관리가 늘어나,
3니 6:12 그리고 백성들은 그들의 부와 그들의 배움을 위한 기회를 따라 계층으로 구분되기 시작하였으니, 참으로 어떤 이들은 그 가난함으로 인하여 무지하였고, 다른 이들은 그 부로 인하여 큰 학식을 얻었더라.

 

 And the people began to be distinguished by ranks, according to their riches and their chances for learning; yea, some were ignorant because of their poverty, and others did receive great learning because of their riches.  6:12.각각 저들이 지닌 부와 학식의 정도에 따라 계급이 생기더라. 어떤 백성은 가난하여 배울 기회가 없어 무지하였고, 부유한 자들은 재물로 인하여 많은 학문을 닦았더라.
3니 6:13 어떤 이들은 교만 중에 자고하였고, 다른 이들은 심히 겸손하였으며, 어떤 이들은 욕을 욕으로 갚는 한편, 다른 이들은 욕과 핍박과 온갖 고난을 받되 돌이켜 다시 욕하려 하지 아니하고, 도리어 하나님 앞에 겸손하며 뉘우치는 마음으로 행하였더라.

 

Some were lifted up in pride, and others were exceedingly humble; some did return railing for railing, while others would receive railing and persecution and all manner of afflictions, and would not turn and revile again, but were humble and penitent before God.

3니 6:14 이리하여 온 땅에 큰 불평등이 생겨 마침내 교회가 무너지기 시작하였으니, 이윽고 제삼십년에는 참된 신앙으로 돌이킨 소수의 레이맨인들 가운데를 제외하고는 온 땅의 교회가 무너졌더라. 그들은 참된 신앙에서 떠나려 하지 아니하였나니 이는 그들이 굳건하고, 확고부동하며, 부지런함을 다하여 주의 계명을 지키기 원하였음이더라.

이리하여 온 땅에 큰 불평등이 생겨 마침내 교회가 무너지기 시작하였으니, 이윽고 제삼십년에는 참된 신앙으로 돌이킨 레이맨인들의 몇몇 교회를 제외하고는 온 땅의 교회가 무너졌더라. 그들은 참된 신앙에서 떠나려 하지 아니하였나니 이는 그들이 굳건하고, 확고부동하며, 부지런함을 다하여 주의 계명을 지키기 원하였음이더라.

 And thus there became a great inequality in all the land, insomuch that the church began to be broken up; yea, insomuch that in the thirtieth year the church was broken up in all the land save it were among a few of the Lamanites who were converted unto the true faith; and they would not depart from it, for they were firm, and steadfast, and immovable, willing with all diligence to keep the commandments of the Lord.  6:14.이토록 나라 안에 계급 차별이 극심하여져 교회가 무너지기 시작하였으니, 삼십년에 이르러서는 진실로 개심하여 참된 신앙을 가진 레이맨인들의 몇몇 교회를 제외하고는 온 나라의 모든 교회가 무너졌고, 이 소수의 레이맨인들은 그 믿음이 굳건하고 독실하며 확고 부동하여, 주의 계명을 충실히 지켰던지라 참된 신앙을 버리지 아니하였더라.
3니 6:15 이제 백성들의 이 죄악의 까닭은 이것이었으니 - 사탄이 큰 권능을 가지고 백성들을 충동하여 온갖 죄악을 행하게 하고, 교만으로 부풀게 하며, 그들을 유혹하여, 권능과 권세와 부와 세상의 헛된 것들을 구하게 하였음이라.

 

 Now the cause of this iniquity of the people was this-Satan had great power, unto the stirring up of the people to do all manner of iniquity, and to the puffing them up with pride, tempting them to seek for power, and authority, and riches, and the vain things of the world.  6:15.백성들의 마음이 이토록 사악해진 까닭은, 사탄이 크게 백성들의 마음을 사로잡아 온갖 간악함을 행하도록 선동하며, 교만으로 부풀게 하고 권세와 지위와 부와 세상의 헛된 것들을 탐하도록 저들의 마음을 유혹하였음이요,
3니 6:16 이에 이같이 사탄이 백성들의 마음을 이끌어 내어 온갖 죄악을 행하게 한지라, 그러므로 그들이 평화를 누린 것은 불과 몇 해에 지나지 아니하였더라.

 

 And thus Satan did lead away the hearts of the people to do all manner of iniquity; therefore they had enjoyed peace but a few years.  6:16.이같이 사탄이 백성들의 마음을 사로잡아 온갖 간악함을 행하게 한지라 저들이 평화를 누린 것은 불과 몇해에 지나지 아니하였느니라.
3니 6:17 또 이리하여 제삼십년 초에 - 백성들은 오랜 기간 동안 넘겨져 악마의 유혹에 끌려 다니되, 어디든지 그가 끌고 가기 원하는 데로 끌려 다니며, 무슨 죄악이든지 그가 원하는 것을 행하였는지라 - 이러므로 이 제삼십년 초에 그들은 심히 간악한 상태에 처해 있었더라.

 

 And thus, in the commencement of the thirtieth year-the people having been delivered up for the space of a long time to be carried about by the temptations of the devil whithersoever he desired to carry them, and to do whatsoever iniquity he desired they should-and thus in the commencement of this, the thirtieth year, they were in a state of awful wickedness.  6:17.그리하여 주후 삼십년 초에는 이미 악마의 유혹에 몸을 맡기고 악마가 원하는 대로 끌려다니며, 악마의 뜻을 좇아 온갖 간악함을 행함이 오래된지라, 이해에 백성들은 심히 간악한 지경에 이르렀으며,
3니 6:18 이제 그들은 무지한 가운데 죄를 범한 것이 아니었으니, 이는 그들에 관한 하나님의 뜻을 그들이 알았음이라, 이는 그것이 그들에게 가르쳐졌었음이니 그러므로 그들이 고의로 하나님을 거역한 것이었더라.

 

Now they did not sin ignorantly, for they knew the will of God concerning them, for it had been taught unto them; therefore they did wilfully rebel against God.

'had been' 을 '~었었다' 로 번역한 곳은 몰몬경 총 235구절 가운데 니후5:19, 야곱1:5, 모사23:30, 27:30, 앨17:4, 46:5, 53:11, 12, 21, 56:10, 47, 힐16:5, 3니6:18, 8:7, 이더14:21 등 15 구절이 전부이다.  나머지는 모두 과거형 또는 현재형으로 번역되었다.

  6:18.저들이 무지한 가운데 죄를 지은 것이 아니니, 이는 저들에게 원하시는 바 하나님의 뜻을 알았음이요, 하나님의 뜻을 충분히 배웠음이라. 그러므로 저들은 저희들의 임의로 하나님을 거역한 것이었더라.
3니 6:19 이제 때는 레이코니우스의 아들 레이코니우스의 시대였나니, 이는 레이코니우스가 그 부친의 자리를 채우고 그 해에 백성들을 다스렸음이라.

 

 And now it was in the days of Lachoneus, the son of Lachoneus, for Lachoneus did fill the seat of his father and did govern the people that year.  6:19.때는 레이코니우스의 아들 레이코니우스가 그의 부친의 뒤를 이어 백성들을 다스리던 때라.
3니 6:20 이에 하늘로부터 영감을 받고 보내심을 받은 자들이 나타나, 그 온 땅에 있는 백성들 가운데 서서 가르침을 베풀며 백성들의 죄와 악을 담대히 증거하였고, 주께서 자기 백성을 위하여 행하실 속죄 곧 다른 말로 하면 그리스도의 부활에 관하여 그들에게 증거하였나니 저들은 그 죽으심과 고난을 담대히 증거하였더라.

 

 And there began to be men inspired from heaven and sent forth, standing among the people in all the land, preaching and testifying boldly of the sins and iniquities of the people, and testifying unto them concerning the redemption which the Lord would make for his people, or in other words, the resurrection of Christ; and they did testify boldly of his death and sufferings.  6:20.이 때에 하늘로부터 영감을 받고 보내심을 받은 자 있어 방방 곡곡에서 백성들 앞에 나서 가르쳐 전하며, 백성들의 죄와 간악함을 담대히 드러내어 증거하며, 주님의 구속의 뜻, 곧 그리스도의 부활에 관하여 증거하였고 주의 죽으심과 수난에 관하여 담대히 가르쳤더라.
3니 6:21 이제 이러한 것들을 증거하는 자들로 말미암아 심히 노한 자들이 백성 중에 많았더라. 또 노한 자들은 주로 대판사들 및 대제사와 율법사였던 자들이라, 참으로 율법사 되는 모든 자가 이러한 것을 증거하는 자들에게 노하였더라.

 

 Now there were many of the people who were exceedingly angry because of those who testified of these things; and those who were angry were chiefly the chief judges, and they who had been high priests and lawyers; yea, all those who were lawyers were angry with those who testified of these things.  6:21.이에 이러한 것들을 증거하는 일로 인하여 오히려 노여움을 품은 백성들이 많았으니, 노여움을 품은 자들이 주로 판사와 대제사와 서기관을 지낸 자들이라. 진실로 모든서기관들이 이러한 것들을 증거한 자에 대하여 노하였으며,
3니 6:22 이제 아무 율법사나 판사나 대제사라도 그들의 정죄가 그 땅의 통치자에게 서명을 받는 경우를 제외하고는 어떠한 자도 사형에 처하도록 정죄할 권능을 가질 수 없었더라.

 

 Now there was no lawyer nor judge nor high priest that could have power to condemn any one to death save their condemnation was signed by the governor of the land.  6:22.서기관이나 판사나 대제사에게 나라의 통치자의 허락이 없이는 사람을 사형에 처할 권리가 없었음에도,
3니 6:23 이제 그리스도에 관한 것을 증거하되 담대히 증거한 자들 중에, 잡혀서 판사들에 의해 은밀히 사형에 처해진 자들이 많았으니, 그들의 죽음은 그들의 죽음 이후까지 그 땅의 통치자에게 알려지지 아니하였더라.

 

 Now there were many of those who testified of the things pertaining to Christ who testified boldly, who were taken and put to death secretly by the judges, that the knowledge of their death came not unto the governor of the land until after their death.  6:23.많은 자들이 그리스도에 관하여 담대히 증거하여 전하다가 판사들에게 잡혀 은밀히 죽음을 당하였으며, 이들이 죽음을 당한 뒤에도 이 처형의 사실은 나라의 통치자에게 알려지지 아니하였으니,
3니 6:24 이제 보라, 그 땅의 통치자에게서 권능을 받은 경우 이외에는 어떠한 사람이 사형에 처해짐은 그 땅의 법에 어긋나는 일이었던지라-

 

 Now behold, this was contrary to the laws of the land, that any man should be put to death except they had power from the governor of the land-  6:24.보라 나라의 통치자의 권한을 위임받지 않고서 사람을 사형에 처함은 나라의 법에 어긋나는 일이었던지라,
3니 6:25 그러므로 법에 따르지 아니하고 주의 선지자들을 정죄하여 사형에 처하게 한 이 판사들에 대한 원망이 제이라헤믈라 땅으로 그 땅의 통치자에게 올라왔더라.

 

 Therefore a complaint came up unto the land of Zarahemla, to the governor of the land, against these judges who had condemned the prophets of the Lord unto death, not according to the law.  6:25.국법을 따르지 않고서 주의 선지자들을 사형에 처한 이러한 판사들을 고발하는 백성들의 원성이 제이라헤믈라 땅의 통치자에게 전하여졌더라.
3니 6:26 이제 이렇게 되었나니 그들이 잡혀 그들이 행한 범죄에 대하여 재판 받기 위하여 판사 앞에 끌려 나왔으니, 백성들이 정해 둔 법에 따른 것이었더라.

 

 Now it came to pass that they were taken and brought up before the judge, to be judged of the crime which they had done, according to the law which had been given by the people.  6:26.이에 그러한 판사들이 붙잡혀 다른 판사들 앞에 끌려 나왔고 백성들이 정한 법에 따라 행한 죄대로 판결을 받게 하였으나,
3니 6:27 이제 이렇게 되었나니 그 판사들에게 많은 친구와 친족이 있으매, 남은 자, 곧 참으로 거의 모든 율법사들과 대제사들이 함께 모여, 법에 따라 재판을 받게 되어 있는 그 판사들의 친족들과 연합하더라.

 

 Now it came to pass that those judges had many friends and kindreds; and the remainder, yea, even almost all the lawyers and the high priests, did gather themselves together, and unite with the kindreds of those judges who were to be tried according to the law.  6:27.잡혀 온 판사들에게 많은 친구와 친척이 있었고, 다른 판사들과 거의 모든 서기관과 대제사들이 법대로 판결을 받아야 할 자들의 친지들과 결탁하여 한 덩어리가 되어서는,
3니 6:28 이에 그들이 서로 언약을 맺었으니, 곧 옛 사람들에 의해 주어진 저 언약이라. 그 언약은 모든 의를 대적하여 연합하도록 악마가 베풀어 준 것이더라.

 

 And they did enter into a covenant one with another, yea, even into that covenant which was given by them of old, which covenant was given and administered by the devil, to combine against all righteousness.  6:28.서로 언약을 맺으니, 이 서약은 이미 옛날 사람들이 행하였던 것이요, 의로운 모든 것을 대적하려 악마가 만든 것이었더라.
3니 6:29 그리하여 그들은 주의 백성을 대적하여 연합하며 또 언약 맺기를 저들을 멸하고, 살인죄를 범한 자들을 바야흐로 법에 따라 집행되려 하는 정의의 손길에서 건지기로 하였더라.

 

 Therefore they did combine against the people of the Lord, and enter into a covenant to destroy them, and to deliver those who were guilty of murder from the grasp of justice, which was about to be administered according to the law.  6:29.그러므로 저들은 함께 단합하여 주의 백성들을 대적하여 이들을 멸하고, 이제 막 법대로 다스려지려는 살인죄를 범한 자들을 법정에서 구출하기로 언약을 맺고,
3니 6:30 그리고 그들은 또 그들 나라의 법과 권리를 무시하였고, 그들은 또 통치자를 멸하며, 그 땅 위에 왕을 세워 그 땅으로 더 이상 자유롭게 하지 아니하고 다만 열왕에게 복종하게 하기로 서로 언약하였더라.

 

 And they did set at defiance the law and the rights of their country; and they did covenant one with another to destroy the governor, and to establish a king over the land, that the land should no more be at liberty but should be subject unto kings.  6:30.나라의 법과 권리를 뒤집어 통치자를 제거하고, 나라에 왕을 세워 백성들이 다시는 자유를 누리지 못하고 다만 열왕에게 복종케 하기로 서로 언약을 나누었느니라.
