소개 나 여호와가 말하노라 너희를 향한 나의 생각은 내가 아나니 재앙이 아니라 곧 평안이요 너희 장래에 소망을 주려 하는 생각이라 Jeremiah tells Jews in Babylon to prepare for seventy years of captivity—Those remaining in Jerusalem shall yet be scattered—Shemaiah prophesies falsely and is cursed.

(24-14) 예레미야 29. 포로에게 주어진 편지

“예루살렘에서와 마찬가지로 바벨론에서도 거짓 선지자들의 예견은 느부갓네살의 통치가 오래 가지 못할 것이며 포로들은 곧 조국으로 돌아가게 될 것이라는 헛된 소망을 부추겼다. 이처럼 고조된 불만의 뜻은 포로들의 운명에 부정적인 영향을 끼쳤을 것이며, 하나님이 부여하신 징계로 달성하고자 한 목표, 이를테면 백성들의 도덕적인 발전이 꺾이지 않을 수 없었다. 그러므로 예레미야는 시드기야왕이 바벨론으로 보낸 특사를 이용하여 포로로 간 백성들에게 그들의 운명에 순복할 것을 권고하는 편지를 보냈다. 그는 그들에게 바벨론에 오랫동안 머물게 될 것이므로 그곳에서 기적을 이루고, 그들 자신의 필요한 여건으로서 그 나라의 복지를 구하라고 권고하고 있다. 하나님께서는 칠십 년이 다 지나도록 그들을 다시 불러 그의 영광스러운 약속을 성취하지 않으실 것이므로, 속히 조국으로 돌아가게 된다는 거짓 선지자들의 약속에 미혹되지 말라고 권고하였다.(4~14절)”(시 에프 케일과 에프 델리츠, 구약전서 주해서, 8:1:408~409)

레 29:1 선지자 예레미야가 예루살렘에서 이같은 편지를 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 끌고 간 포로 중 남아 있는 장로들과 제사장들과 선지자들과 모든 백성에게 보냈는데 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;
레 29:2 그 때는 여고니야 왕과 왕후와 궁중 내시들과 유다와 예루살렘의 고관들과 기능공과 토공들이 예루살렘에서 떠난 후라 (After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)
레 29:3 유다의 왕 시드기야가 바벨론으로 보내어 바벨론의 왕 느부갓네살에게로 가게 한 사반의 아들 엘라사와 힐기야의 아들 그마랴 편으로 말하되 By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,
레 29:4 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 사로잡혀 가게 한 모든 포로에게 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;
레 29:5 너희는 집을 짓고 거기에 살며 텃밭을 만들고 그 열매를 먹으라 Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;
레 29:6 아내를 맞이하여 자녀를 낳으며 너희 아들이 아내를 맞이하며 너희 딸이 남편을 맞아 그들로 자녀를 낳게 하여 너희가 거기에서 번성하고 줄어들지 아니하게 하라 Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.
레 29:7 너희는 내가 사로잡혀 가게 한 그 성읍의 평안을 구하고 그를 위하여 여호와께 기도하라 이는 그 성읍이 평안함으로 너희도 평안할 것임이라 And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
레 29:8 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말하노라 너희 중에 있는 선지자들에게와 점쟁이에게 미혹되지 말며 너희가 꾼 꿈도 곧이 듣고 믿지 말라 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.
레 29:9 내가 그들을 보내지 아니하였어도 그들이 내 이름으로 거짓을 예언함이라 여호와의 말씀이니라 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.
레 29:10 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 바벨론에서 칠십 년이 차면 내가 너희를 돌보고 나의 선한 말을 너희에게 성취하여 너희를 이 곳으로 돌아오게 하리라 For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
레 29:11 여호와의 말씀이니라 너희를 향한 나의 생각을 내가 아나니 평안이요 재앙이 아니니라 너희에게 미래와 희망을 주는 것이니라 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
레 29:12 너희가 내게 부르짖으며 내게 와서 기도하면 내가 너희들의 기도를 들을 것이요 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
레 29:13 너희가 온 마음으로 나를 구하면 나를 찾을 것이요 나를 만나리라 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
레 29:14 이것은 여호와의 말씀이니라 나는 너희들을 만날 것이며 너희를 포로된 중에서 다시 돌아오게 하되 내가 쫓아 보내었던 나라들과 모든 곳에서 모아 사로잡혀 떠났던 그 곳으로 돌아오게 하리라 이것은 여호와의 말씀이니라 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
레 29:15 너희가 말하기를 여호와께서 우리를 위하여 바벨론에서 선지자를 일으키셨느니라 Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
레 29:16 다윗의 왕좌에 앉은 왕과 이 성에 사는 모든 백성 곧 너희와 함께 포로 되어 가지 아니한 너희 형제에게 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하셨느니라 Know that thus saith the LORD of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;
레 29:17 만군의 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 보라 내가 칼과 기근과 전염병을 그들에게 보내어 그들에게 상하여 먹을 수 없는 몹쓸 무화과 같게 하겠고 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
레 29:18 내가 칼과 기근과 전염병으로 그들을 뒤따르게 하며 그들을 세계 여러 나라 가운데에 흩어 학대를 당하게 할 것이며 내가 그들을 쫓아낸 나라들 가운데에서 저주와 경악과 조소와 수모의 대상이 되게 하리라 And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them:
레 29:19 여호와의 말씀이니라 너희들이 내 말을 듣지 않았기 때문이니라 내가 내 종 선지자들을 너희들에게 꾸준히 보냈으나 너희는 그들의 말을 듣지 않았느니라 여호와의 말씀이니라 Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD.
레 29:20 그런즉 내가 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 보낸 너희 모든 포로여 여호와의 말씀을 들을지니라 Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:
레 29:21 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 골라야의 아들 아합과 마아세야의 아들 시드기야에 대하여 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 그들은 내 이름으로 너희에게 거짓을 예언한 자라 보라 내가 그들을 바벨론의 왕 느부갓네살의 손에 넘기리니 그가 너희 눈 앞에서 그들을 죽일 것이라 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;
레 29:22 바벨론에 있는 유다의 모든 포로가 그들을 저줏거리로 삼아서 이르기를 여호와께서 너를 바벨론 왕이 불살라 죽인 시드기야와 아합 같게 하시기를 원하노라 하리니 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;
레 29:23 이는 그들이 이스라엘 중에서 어리석게 행하여 그 이웃의 아내와 간음하며 내가 그들에게 명령하지 아니한 거짓을 내 이름으로 말함이라 나는 알고 있는 자로서 증인이니라 여호와의 말씀이니라 하시니라 Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours’ wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD.
레 29:24 너는 느헬람 사람 스마야에게 이같이 말하여 이르라 Thus shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,
레 29:25 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하여 이르시되 네가 네 이름으로 예루살렘에 있는 모든 백성과 제사장 마아세야의 아들 스바냐와 모든 제사장에게 글을 보내 이르기를 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
레 29:26 여호와께서 너를 제사장 여호야다를 대신하여 제사장을 삼아 여호와의 성전 감독자로 세우심은 모든 미친 자와 선지자 노릇을 하는 자들을 목에 씌우는 나무 고랑과 목에 씌우는 쇠 고랑을 채우게 하심이어늘 The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.
레 29:27 이제 네가 어찌하여 너희 중에 선지자 노릇을 하는 아나돗 사람 예레미야를 책망하지 아니하느냐 Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a prophet to you?
레 29:28 그가 바벨론에 있는 우리에게 편지하기를 오래 지내야 하리니 너희는 집을 짓고 살며 밭을 일구고 그 열매를 먹으라 하셨다 하니라 For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
레 29:29 제사장 스바냐가 스마야의 글을 선지자 예레미야에게 읽어서 들려 줄 때에 And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
레 29:30 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하여 이르시되 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
레 29:31 너는 모든 포로에게 전언하여 이르기를 여호와께서 느헬람 사람 스마야를 두고 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 내가 그를 보내지 아니하였거늘 스마야가 너희에게 예언하고 너희에게 거짓을 믿게 하였도다 Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:
레 29:32 그러므로 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 보라 내가 느헬람 사람 스마야와 그의 자손을 벌하리니 그가 나 여호와께 패역한 말을 하였기 때문에 이 백성 중에 살아 남을 그의 자손이 하나도 없을 것이라 내가 내 백성에게 행하려 하는 복된 일을 그가 보지 못하리라 하셨느니라 이것은 여호와의 말씀이니라 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.
