소개 암몬, 에돔, 게달, 하솔, 엘람에 대한 말씀. Judgment and destruction shall come upon the Ammonites, Edom, Kedar, Hazor, and Elam.

(25-22) 예레미야 49장. 암몬, 에돔, 개달, 하솔, 엘람의 멸망

이 예언은 예루살렘 함락 이후에 주어진 것으로 여겨진다. 암몬 족속은 이스라엘의 절망적인 상태를 이용하여, 이스라엘 영역을 자기네들의 것으로 만들겠다는 욕망으로 그들의 영토에 침략하였다. 예레미야는 하나님께서 이스라엘의 후손을 보호하시어 그들은 언젠가 그들의 기업의 땅으로 돌아오게 하시리라는 것을 암시하고 있다.(2절 참조) 암몬 족속에게 주어진 약속(6절)은 그들이 사이러스 칙령으로 허가를 받아 모압 족속과 이스라엘 민족과 함께 돌아왔을 때 성취되었다.

주님은 에돔을 벌거숭이가 되게 하겠다고 말씀하셨다.(7~22절 참조) 이는 그가 에돔의 모든 숨은 장소를 드러내어 원수들에게 알게 하시겠다는 뜻이다. 에서의 과부와 고아들이 주님의 보호를 받으리니, 주는 가장 훌륭한 남편이요 가장 사랑스러운 아버지이시다.

39절은 후기에 주께서 엘람의 포로를 다시 돌아오게 하리라는 것을 말해 준다. 이 성구 역시 모압 족속의 경우와 같이 그들의 개심을 의미하는 것으로 여겨진다.
레 49:1 암몬 자손에 대한 말씀이라 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 이스라엘이 자식이 없느냐 상속자가 없느냐 말감이 갓을 점령하며 그 백성이 그 성읍들에 사는 것은 어찌 됨이냐 Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?
레 49:2 여호와의 말씀이니라 그러므로 보라 날이 이르리니 내가 전쟁 소리로 암몬 자손의 랍바에 들리게 할 것이라 랍바는 폐허더미 언덕이 되겠고 그 마을들은 불에 탈 것이며 그 때에 이스라엘은 자기를 점령하였던 자를 점령하리라 여호와의 말씀이니라 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir unto them that were his heirs, saith the LORD.
레 49:3 헤스본아 슬피 울지어다 아이가 황폐하였도다 너희 랍바의 딸들아 부르짖을지어다 굵은 베를 감고 애통하며 울타리 가운데에서 허둥지둥할지어다 말감과 그 제사장들과 그 고관들이 다 사로잡혀 가리로다 Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.
레 49:4 패역한 딸아 어찌하여 골짜기 곧 네 흐르는 골짜기를 자랑하느냐 네가 어찌하여 재물을 의뢰하여 말하기를 누가 내게 대적하여 오리요 하느냐 Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?
레 49:5 주 만군의 여호와의 말씀이니라 보라 내가 두려움을 네 사방에서 네게 오게 하리니 너희 각 사람이 앞으로 쫓겨 나갈 것이요 도망하는 자들을 모을 자가 없으리라 Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth.
레 49:6 그러나 그 후에 내가 암몬 자손의 포로를 돌아가게 하리라 여호와의 말씀이니라 And afterward I will bring again the captivity of the children of Ammon, saith the LORD.
레 49:7 에돔에 대한 말씀이라 만군의 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 데만에 다시는 지혜가 없게 되었느냐 명철한 자에게 책략이 끊어졌느냐 그들의 지혜가 없어졌느냐 Concerning Edom, thus saith the LORD of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?
레 49:8 드단 주민아 돌이켜 도망할지어다 깊은 곳에 숨을지어다 내가 에서의 재난을 그에게 닥치게 하여 그를 벌할 때가 이르게 하리로다 Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him.
레 49:9 포도를 거두는 자들이 네게 이르면 약간의 열매도 남기지 아니하겠고 밤에 도둑이 오면 그 욕심이 차기까지 멸하느니라 If grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough.
레 49:10 그러나 내가 에서의 옷을 벗겨 그 숨은 곳이 드러나게 하였나니 그가 그 몸을 숨길 수 없을 것이라 그 자손과 형제와 이웃이 멸망하였은즉 그가 없어졌느니라 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not.
레 49:11 네 고아들을 버려도 내가 그들을 살리리라 네 과부들은 나를 의지할 것이니라 Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.
레 49:12 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 보라 술잔을 마시는 습관이 없는 자도 반드시 마시겠거든 네가 형벌을 온전히 면하겠느냐 면하지 못하리니 너는 반드시 마시리라 For thus saith the LORD; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink of it.
레 49:13 여호와의 말씀이니라 내가 나를 두고 맹세하노니 보스라가 놀램과 치욕 거리와 황폐함과 저줏거리가 될 것이요 그 모든 성읍이 영원히 황폐하리라 하시니라 For I have sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes;
레 49:14 내가 여호와에게서부터 오는 소식을 들었노라 사절을 여러 나라 가운데 보내어 이르시되 너희는 모여와서 그를 치며 일어나서 싸우라 I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.
레 49:15 보라 내가 너를 여러 나라 가운데에서 작아지게 하였고 사람들 가운데에서 멸시를 받게 하였느니라 For, lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among men.
레 49:16 바위 틈에 살며 산꼭대기를 점령한 자여 스스로 두려운 자인 줄로 여김과 네 마음의 교만이 너를 속였도다 네가 독수리 같이 보금자리를 높은 데에 지었을지라도 내가 그리로부터 너를 끌어내리리라 이는 여호와의 말씀이니라 Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD.
레 49:17 에돔이 공포의 대상이 되리니 그리로 지나는 자마다 놀라며 그 모든 재앙으로 말미암아 탄식하리로다 Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof.
레 49:18 여호와께서 말씀하시니라 소돔과 고모라와 그 이웃 성읍들이 멸망한 것 같이 거기에 사는 사람이 없으며 그 가운데에 머물러 살 사람이 아무도 없으리라 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.
레 49:19 보라 사자가 요단 강의 깊은 숲에서 나타나듯이 그가 와서 견고한 처소를 칠 것이라 내가 즉시 그들을 거기에서 쫓아내고 택한 자를 내가 그 위에 세우리니 나와 같은 자 누구며 나와 더불어 다툴 자 누구며 내 앞에 설 목자가 누구냐 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?
레 49:20 그런즉 에돔에 대한 여호와의 의도와 데만 주민에 대하여 결심하신 여호와의 계획을 들으라 양 떼의 어린 것들을 그들이 반드시 끌고 다니며 괴롭히고 그 처소로 황폐하게 하지 않으랴 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.
레 49:21 그들이 넘어지는 소리에 땅이 진동하며 그가 부르짖는 소리는 홍해에 들리리라 The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.
레 49:22 보라 원수가 독수리 같이 날아와서 그의 날개를 보스라 위에 펴는 그 날에 에돔 용사의 마음이 진통하는 여인 같이 되리라 하시니라 Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
레 49:23 다메섹에 대한 말씀이라 하맛과 아르밧이 수치를 당하리니 이는 흉한 소문을 듣고 낙담함이니라 바닷가에서 비틀거리며 평안이 없도다 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
레 49:24 다메섹이 피곤하여 몸을 돌이켜 달아나려 하니 떨림이 그를 움켜잡고 해산하는 여인 같이 고통과 슬픔이 그를 사로잡았도다 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.
레 49:25 어찌하여 찬송의 성읍, 나의 즐거운 성읍이 버린 것이 되었느냐 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
레 49:26 이는 만군의 여호와의 말씀이니라 그런즉 그 날에 그의 장정들은 그 거리에 엎드러지겠고 모든 군사는 멸절될 것이며 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.
레 49:27 내가 다메섹의 성벽에 불을 지르리니 벤하닷의 궁전이 불타리라 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Ben-hadad.
레 49:28 바벨론의 느부갓네살 왕에게 공격을 받은 게달과 하솔 나라들에 대한 말씀이라 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 너희는 일어나 게달로 올라가서 동방 자손들을 황폐하게 하라 Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite, thus saith the LORD; Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and spoil the men of the east.
레 49:29 너희는 그들의 장막과 양 떼를 빼앗으며 휘장과 모든 기구와 낙타를 빼앗아다가 소유로 삼고 그들을 향하여 외치기를 두려움이 사방에 있다 할지니라 Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry unto them, Fear is on every side.
레 49:30 여호와의 말씀이니라 하솔 주민아 도망하라 멀리 가서 깊은 곳에 살라 이는 바벨론의 느부갓네살 왕이 너를 칠 모략과 너를 칠 계책을 세웠음이라 Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.
레 49:31 여호와의 말씀이니라 너는 일어나 고요하고도 평안히 사는 백성 곧 성문이나 문빗장이 없이 홀로 사는 국민을 치라 Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.
레 49:32 그들의 낙타들은 노략물이 되겠고 그들의 많은 가축은 탈취를 당할 것이라 내가 그 살쩍을 깎는 자들을 사면에 흩고 그 재난을 여러 곳에서 오게 하리라 여호와의 말씀이니라 And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith the LORD.
레 49:33 하솔은 큰 뱀의 거처가 되어 영원히 황폐하리니 거기 사는 사람이나 그 가운데에 머물러 사는 사람이 아무도 없게 되리라 하시니라 And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.
레 49:34 유다 왕 시드기야가 즉위한 지 오래지 아니하여서 엘람에 대한 여호와의 말씀이 선지자 예레미야에게 임하여 이르시되 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,
레 49:35 만군의 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 보라 내가 엘람의 힘의 으뜸가는 활을 꺾을 것이요 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
레 49:36 하늘의 사방에서부터 사방 바람을 엘람에 오게 하여 그들을 사방으로 흩으리니 엘람에서 쫓겨난 자가 가지 않는 나라가 없으리라 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
레 49:37 여호와의 말씀이니라 내가 엘람으로 그의 원수의 앞, 그의 생명을 노리는 자의 앞에서 놀라게 할 것이며 내가 재앙 곧 나의 진노를 그들 위에 내릴 것이며 내가 또 그 뒤로 칼을 보내어 그들을 멸망시키리라 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:
레 49:38 내가 나의 보좌를 엘람에 주고 왕과 고관들을 그 곳에서 멸하리라 여호와의 말씀이니라 And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD.
레 49:39 그러나 말일에 이르러 내가 엘람의 포로를 돌아가게 하리라 여호와의 말씀이니라 But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD.
