앨 25:1 또 보라, 이제 이렇게 되었나니 그 레이맨인들은 자기 형제들을 죽였음으로 인하여 더욱 노하였던지라, 니파이인들에게 복수할 것을 맹세하였고, 그때는 더 이상 앤타이-니파이-리하이 백성을 죽이려 하지 않았더라.

 

 AND behold, now it came to pass that those Lamanites were more angry because they had slain their brethren; therefore they swore vengeance upon the Nephites; and they did no more attempt to slay the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi at that time. 25:1.보라 이들 레이맨인들은 저들의 동족을 죽인 일에 크게 노하여 니파이인들에게 복수할 것을 맹세하고, 그때로부터 앤타이-니파이-리하이 백성들을 그 이상 죽이려 하지 않았고, 
앨 25:2 그러나 그들은 그 군대를 취하여 제이라헤믈라 땅의 경계로 넘어 들어가서, 앰몬아이하 땅에 있는 백성을 공격하여 그들을 멸하였더라.

 

 But they took their armies and went over into the borders of the land of Zarahemla, and fell upon the people who were in the land of Ammonihah and destroyed them. 25:2.군대를 이끌고 제이라헤믈라 땅의 경계를 넘어 들어와 앰몬아이하땅 백성들을 공격하여 이들을 멸망 시켰으나, 
앨 25:3 또 그러고 난 후에 그들이 니파이인들과 여러 번 싸웠으나, 이때는 쫓기고 죽임을 당하였더라.

 

 And after that, they had many battles with the Nephites, in the which they were driven and slain. 25:3.그 후로 여러 차례에 걸친 니파이인들과의 전쟁에서는 쫓기고 맞아죽고 하였으며, 
앨 25:4 또 죽임을 당한 레이맨인들 중에는, 노아의 제사들이었던 앰율론과 그 형제들의 자손이 거의 다 있었나니, 그들이 모두 니파이인들의 손에 죽임을 당하였더라.

 

 And among the Lamanites who were slain were almost all the seed of Amulon and his brethren, who were the priests of Noah, and they were slain by the hands of the Nephites; 25:4.살륙당한 대부분의 레이맨인들은 노아의 제사들이었던 앰율론과 그의 형제들의 자손들이었으니, 이들은 모두 니파이인들 손에 죽었고, 
앨 25:5 또 남은 자들은 동편 광야로 도망해 들어가, 레이맨인들을 다스리는 권력과 권세를 찬탈하고, 많은 레이맨인들을 그 믿음으로 인하여 불에 타 죽게 하였나니 -

 

 And the remainder, having fled into the east wilderness, and having usurped the power and authority over the Lamanites, caused that many of the Lamanites should perish by fire because of their belief— 25:5.살아 남은 자들은 동쪽 광야로 도망쳐 가서 레이맨인들을 다스리는 권한을 빼앗고 믿음을 트집하여 레이맨인들을 많이 불태워 죽였으니, 
앨 25:6 이는 그들 중 많은 자들이 많은 손실과 그처럼 많은 고난을 당하고 나자, 깨우침을 받으며 아론과 그의 형제들이 그들의 땅에서 그들에게 전파한 말을 기억하기 시작하였음이라. 그리하여 그들은 그 조상들의 전통을 믿지 아니하고, 주를 믿으며, 그가 니파이인들에게 큰 능력을 주셨음을 믿기 시작하였고, 이리하여 그들 중 광야에서 돌이킨 자들이 많았더라.

 

 For many of them, after having suffered much loss and so many afflictions, began to be stirred up in remembrance of the words which Aaron and his brethren had preached to them in their land; therefore they began to disbelieve the traditions of their fathers, and to believe in the Lord, and that he gave great power unto the Nephites; and thus there were many of them converted in the wilderness. 25:6.많은 사람들이 해를 입으며 수없는 고난을 겪고 나서 아론과 그의 형제들이 그 땅에서 전해 준 말을 기억하여 선조들의 관습적인 믿음을 거부하고 주를 믿으니, 주께서 니파이인들에게 큰 힘을 주시더라. 그리하여 광야에서 많은 사람들이 개심하게 되었더라. 
앨 25:7 이에 이렇게 되었나니 앰율론의 자손의 남은 자들인 그 통치자들이 그들, 곧 이러한 것을 믿는 모든 자를 죽이게 하더라.

 

 And it came to pass that those rulers who were the remnant of the children of Amulon caused that they should be put to death, yea, all those that believed in these things. 25:7.앰율론족의 후예들인 통치자들은 이러한 것들을 믿는 모든 사람들을 죽이게 하였으니, 
앨 25:8 이제 이 순교가 그들의 형제 중 많은 자들로 하여금 분노를 일으키게 한지라, 광야에서 싸움이 생겨나, 레이맨인들이 앰율론과 그 형제들의 자손을 수색하기 시작하여 저들을 죽이기 시작하매, 저들이 동편 광야로 도망해 들어가니라.

 

 Now this martyrdom caused that many of their brethren should be stirred up to anger; and there began to be contention in the wilderness; and the Lamanites began to hunt the seed of Amulon and his brethren and began to slay them; and they fled into the east wilderness. 25:8.이 순교의 사실이 많은 동족들의 분을 돋구어 광야에서는 분쟁이 시작되었고, 레이맨인들이 앰율론과 그의 형제들의 자손들을 찾아 죽이기 시작하매 저들이 동쪽 광야로 흩어져 들어 갔더라. 
앨 25:9 또 보라 저들이 이 날에도 레이맨인들에게 쫓기니라. 이같이 아빈아다이의 말, 곧 그가 자기를 불에 타 죽게 한 제사들의 자손에 대하여 한 말이 이루어지니라.

 

 And behold they are hunted at this day by the Lamanites. Thus the words of Abinadi were brought to pass, which he said concerning the seed of the priests who caused that he should suffer death by fire. 25:9.보라 이때에 레이맨인들이 저들을 사냥하듯 수색하여 소탕하였으니, 아빈아다이가 자기를 불태워 죽인 제사들의 자손에 대하여 예언한 대로, 그 예언이 이루어졌느니라. 
앨 25:10 이는 그가 그들에게 이르기를, 너희가 내게 행하는 일이 장차 임할 일의 예표가 되리라 하였음이니,

 

 For he said unto them: What ye shall do unto me shall be a type of things to come. 25:10.아빈아다이가 그들에게 일렀으되, 너희가 내게 대하는 일들이 장차 너희에게 있을 일의 예표가 되리라 한 말이요, 
앨 25:11 이제 아빈아다이는 하나님을 믿는 자신의 믿음으로 인하여 불에 타 죽음을 당한 첫 번째 사람이라. 이제 이것이 그가 뜻한 바니, 곧 많은 자들이 그가 당한 대로, 불에 타 죽음을 당하리라 함이라.

 

 And now Abinadi was the first that suffered death by fire because of his belief in God; now this is what he meant, that many should suffer death by fire, according as he had suffered. 25:11.아빈아다이가 하나님을 믿는 신앙으로 인하여 처음으로 화형을 당했음에, 그가 고난을 당한 대로 많은 사람들이 불에 타 죽으리라는 것을 의미함이라. 
앨 25:12 또 그가 노아의 제사들에게 이르기를 너희의 자손이 많은 자들을 나와 같은 모양으로 죽게 하겠고, 또 그들은 마치 목자 없는 양이 들짐승들에게 쫓기고 죽임을 당하는 것같이, 널리 흩어지고 죽임을 당하리라 하였으니, 이제 보라, 이 말이 입증되었도다. 이는 그들이 레이맨인들에게 쫓기며, 수색되며, 매를 맞았음이라.

 

 And he said unto the priests of Noah that their seed should cause many to be put to death, in the like manner as he was, and that they should be scattered abroad and slain, even as a sheep having no shepherd is driven and slain by wild beasts; and now behold, these words were verified, for they were driven by the Lamanites, and they were hunted, and they were smitten.

삿 20:36        이에 베냐민 자손이 자기가 패한 것을 깨달았으니 이는 이스라엘 사람이 기브아에 매복한 군사를 믿고 잠깐 베냐민 사람 앞을 피하매    So the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because they trusted unto the liers in wait which they had set beside Gibeah.

삼상 5:12       죽지 아니한 사람들은 독한 종기로 치심을 당해 성읍의 부르짖음이 하늘에 사무쳤더라        And the men that died not were smitten with the emerods: and the cry of the city went up to heaven.

삼상 7:10       사무엘이 번제를 드릴 때에 블레셋 사람이 이스라엘과 싸우려고 가까이 오매 그 날에 여호와께서 블레셋 사람에게 큰 우레를 발하여 그들을 어지럽게 하시니 그들이 이스라엘 앞에 패한지라        And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel.

삼하 10:15      아람 사람이 자기가 이스라엘 앞에서 패하였음을 보고 다 모이매    And when the Syrians saw that they were smitten before Israel, they gathered themselves together.

삼하 10:19      하닷에셀에게 속한 왕들이 자기가 이스라엘 앞에서 패함을 보고 이스라엘과 화친하고 섬기니 그러므로 아람 사람들이 두려워하여 다시는 암몬 자손을 돕지 아니하니라     And when all the kings that were servants to Hadarezer saw that they were smitten before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more.

대하 20:22      그 노래와 찬송이 시작될 때에 여호와께서 복병을 두어 유다를 치러 온 암몬 자손과 모압과 세일 산 주민들을 치게 하시므로 그들이 패하였으니  And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

 25:12.그는 노아의 제사들에게 그들의 자손들이 자기를 죽인 것 처럼 많은 사람들을 죽이겠으나, 그렇게 하고 난 뒤 저희들도 사방에 흩어져 마치목자를 잃은 양이 들짐승들에게먹히듯 그렇게 패망되리라 하였으니, 보라 이 말이 성취됨이라. 이들은 레이맨인들에게 쫓겨나 눈에 뜨이는 대로 맞아 죽었느니라. 
앨 25:13 또 이렇게 되었나니 레이맨인들은 그들이 니파이인들을 이길 수 없음을 보고 그들의 땅으로 다시 돌아갔고, 그들 가운데 많은 자가 이스마엘 땅과 니파이 땅에 거하려고 넘어와서, 하나님의 백성, 곧 앤타이-니파이-리하이 백성과 합하였더라.

 

 And it came to pass that when the Lamanites saw that they could not overpower the Nephites they returned again to their own land; and many of them came over to dwell in the land of Ishmael and the land of Nephi, and did join themselves to the people of God, who were the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi. 25:13.레이맨인들은 저희가 니파이인들을 어찌할 수 없음을 알아 저희 땅으로 돌아 갔으나, 많은 레이맨인들이 이스마엘과 니파이 땅으로 돌아와 하나님의 백성인 앤타이-니파이-리하이 백성들의 품으로 돌아 왔으니, 
앨 25:14 또 그들도 역시 그 형제들이 한 것같이, 그들의 전쟁 무기를 묻었으며, 의로운 백성이 되었나니, 그들이 주의 길로 행하며, 그의 계명과 그의 법도를 힘써 지키더라.

 

 And they did also bury their weapons of war, according as their brethren had, and they began to be a righteous people; and they did walk in the ways of the Lord, and did observe to keep his commandments and his statutes. 25:14.저들도 또한 저들의 형제들이 행한 대로 전쟁에 쓰이는 무기를 파묻어 버리고 의로운 백성이 되었으며, 주의 길을 걷고 주의 계명과 주의 법도를 따르기로 하더라. 
앨 25:15 또한 그들이 모세의 율법을 지켰으니, 이는 모세의 율법이 다 이루어지지 아니하였으므로, 그들이 아직은 이를 지킬 필요가 있었음이라. 그러나 모세의 율법에도 불구하고, 그들이 그리스도의 오심을 고대하였으니, 모세의 율법은 그의 오심의 예표라 생각하였음이요, 또 그가 그들에게 나타내신 바 될 때까지 저 외형적인 의례를 반드시 지켜야 한다고 믿었음이라.

 

 Yea, and they did keep the law of Moses; for it was expedient that they should keep the law of Moses as yet, for it was not all fulfilled. But notwithstanding the law of Moses, they did look forward to the coming of Christ, considering that the law of Moses was a type of his coming, and believing that they must keep those outward performances until the time that he should be revealed unto them. 25:15.율법이 온전히 성취되지 않았으매 모세의 율법을 지켜야 함이 명백하여 저들은 모세의 율법을 지켰으며, 모세의 율법으로 지키면서도 이것이 그리스도가 강림하실 예표라 생각하여 그리스도께서 친히 저들에게 나타나 보이실 때까지는 알려진 모든 의식을 이행하여야 함을 믿으며 그리스도의 강림을 고대하였느니라. 
앨 25:16 이제 그들은 구원이 모세의 율법으로 말미암아 온다고 생각하지 않았으나, 모세의 율법이 그리스도를 믿는 그들의 신앙을 강하게 하는 일을 하였고, 그리하여 그들은 장래 일을 말씀하시는 예언의 영에 의지하여 영원한 구원에 이르도록 신앙을 통하여 소망을 간직하였느니라.

 

 Now they did not suppose that salvation came by the law of Moses; but the law of Moses did serve to strengthen their faith in Christ; and thus they did retain a hope through faith, unto eternal salvation, relying upon the spirit of prophecy, which spake of those things to come. 25:16.모세의 율법이 구원을 가져온다고 생각하지 않았으나, 그리스도를 믿는 신앙심을 북돋다 준다고 생각하여 장차 일어날 일을 예언한 예언의 영에 의존하며 신앙으로 영원한 구원에 이르는 소망을 품게 되었나니, 
앨 25:17 또 이제 보라, 암몬과 아론과 옴너와 힘나이와 그들의 형제들은 주께서 자신들이 기도한 대로 자신들에게 허락해 주셨으며, 또 그 하신 말씀을 하나도 빠짐없이 자신들에게 입증하셨음을 보고, 자신들이 레이맨인들 가운데서 얻은 성공으로 인하여 심히 기뻐하였더라.

 

 And now behold, Ammon, and Aaron, and Omner, and Himni, and their brethren did rejoice exceedingly, for the success which they had had among the Lamanites, seeing that the Lord had granted unto them according to their prayers, and that he had also verified his word unto them in every particular. 25:17.보라 암몬, 아론, 옴너, 힘나이 그리고 이들의 형제들은 주께서 저희기도를 들어 이뤄 주시며, 저들과 맺은 말씀을 하나도 빠짐없이 입증하시어 저들이 레이맨인들 가운데 들어와 성공하게 된지라 이를 크게 기뻐하였더라.
