 NOW it came to pass that after Amulek had made an end of these words, they withdrew themselves from the multitude and came over into the land of Jershon. 35:1.앰율레크가 말을 마치자 많은 사람들이 무리중에서 뛰쳐 나와 여어숀 땅으로 오게 되었으니, 
앨 35:2 참으로 또한 나머지 형제들도, 조램인들에게 말씀을 전파한 후, 여어숀 땅으로 넘어왔더라.

 

 Yea, and the rest of the brethren, after they had preached the word unto the Zoramites, also came over into the land of Jershon. 35:2.앨마의 다른 형제들과 함께 갔던 자들도 각각 조램인들에게 말씀을 전파하고 나서 여어숀 땅으로 넘어 갔더라. 
앨 35:3 그리고 이렇게 되었나니 조램인들 가운데 보다 영향력 있는 부류의 사람들이 자기들에게 전파된 말씀에 관하여 함께 의논한 후, 말씀으로 인하여 노하니, 이는 그 말씀이 저들의 간계를 무너뜨림이라. 그러므로 저들이 말씀에 귀 기울이려 하지 아니하였느니라.

 

 And it came to pass that after the more popular part of the Zoramites had consulted together concerning the words which had been preached unto them, they were angry because of the word, for it did destroy their craft; therefore they would not hearken unto the words. 35:3.조램인들 가운데 신분이 높은 층의 사람들이 자기들에게 전파된 말씀에 관하여 토의한 끝에 이 말씀이 저들의 계책을 무너뜨렸다 하여 이 말씀에 대하여 노한지라 말씀에 귀를 기울이려 하지 않았으며, 
앨 35:4 그리고 저들은 사람을 보내어 그 온 땅에서 모든 백성을 함께 모으고, 그들과 더불어 전파된 말씀에 관하여 의논하였더라.

 

 And they sent and gathered together throughout all the land all the people, and consulted with them concerning the words which had been spoken. 35:4.나라 안 모든 백성들을 한 자리에 모아 놓고 전파된 말씀에 관하여 토의하였나니, 
앨 35:5 이제 그들의 통치자와 그들의 제사와 그들의 교사들이 백성들로 하여금 저들의 원하는 바를 알게 하지 아니하였나니, 그러므로 저들이 은밀히 모든 백성의 생각을 알아내었더라.

 

 Now their rulers and their priests and their teachers did not let the people know concerning their desires; therefore they found out privily the minds of all the people. 35:5.저들이 토의할 때 통치자나 제사나 교사들이 자기들의 요구를 백성들에게 말하지 않고 은밀히 모든 백성들의 뜻을 알아 내니라. 
앨 35:6 이에 이렇게 되었나니 저들이 모든 백성의 생각을 알아낸 후, 앨마와 그의 형제들이 한 말씀을 좋게 여기는 자들은 그 땅에서 쫓겨나니, 그들의 수효가 많았고, 그들 역시 여어숀 땅으로 넘어왔더라.

 

 And it came to pass that after they had found out the minds of all the people, those who were in favor of the words which had been spoken by Alma and his brethren were cast out of the land; and they were many; and they came over also into the land of Jershon. 35:6.저들이 이렇게 백성들의 마음을 알아낸 후에 백성들 가운데 앨마와 그의 형제들이 전파한 말씀을 기껍게 생각하는 자들을 그 땅에서 쫓으니, 그 수효가 많더라. 이들이 모두 여어숀 땅으로 들어가매, 
앨 35:7 이에 이렇게 되었나니 앨마와 그의 형제들이 그들에게 성역을 베푸니라.

 

 And it came to pass that Alma and his brethren did minister unto them. 35:7.앨마와 그의 형제들이 이들을 돌보니라. 
앨 35:8 이제 조램인 백성들이 여어숀 땅에 있는 암몬 백성에게 노하였고, 조램인의 두령은 매우 간악한 자더니, 그가 암몬 백성에게 사람을 보내어 저들에게서 그들의 땅으로 넘어온 자들을 다 그들의 땅에서 쫓아낼 것을 그들에게 요구하였더라.

 

 Now the people of the Zoramites were angry with the people of Ammon who were in Jershon, and the chief ruler of the Zoramites, being a very wicked man, sent over unto the people of Ammon desiring them that they should cast out of their land all those who came over from them into their land. 35:8.이에 조램인들이 여어숀 땅에 있는 암몬백성들에 대하여 노한지라 아주 악독한 조램인의 통치자가 암몬 백성들에게 사람을 보내어, 암몬 백성들에게로 간 모든 조램인들을 그 땅에서 내어 쫓아 달라는 전갈을 하였으며, 
앨 35:9 또 저가 그들에게 대하여 많은 위협을 토하였으나, 암몬 백성들은 저들의 말을 겁내지 아니하였으므로, 그들을 쫓아 내지 아니하고, 자기들에게로 넘어온 가난한 조램인들을 모두 받아들여, 그들을 양육하고, 입혔으며, 그들에게 땅을 주어 그들의 기업을 삼게 하고, 그들의 필요에 따라 그들에게 베풀어 주니라.

 

 And he breathed out many threatenings against them. And now the people of Ammon did not fear their words; therefore they did not cast them out, but they did receive all the poor of the Zoramites that came over unto them; and they did nourish them, and did clothe them, and did give unto them lands for their inheritance; and they did administer unto them according to their wants. 35:9.여러 가지로 암몬 백성들을 협박하였으나, 암몬 백성들은 이러한 저들의 말을 두려워하지 아니하여 쫓겨난 조램인들을 쫓아내지 않았을 뿐만 아니라 그들에게 오게 된 불쌍한 조램인들을 받아 들여 먹이고 입히며 거할 땅을 내어 주며 저희가 원하는 대로 돌보아 주더라. 
앨 35:10 이제 이 일이 조램인들을 선동하여 암몬 백성에게 대하여 노하게 한지라, 저들이 레이맨인들과 섞이며 그들도 암몬 백성에게 대하여 노하게 하기 시작하니라.

 

 Now this did stir up the Zoramites to anger against the people of Ammon, and they began to mix with the Lamanites and to stir them up also to anger against them. 35:10.암몬 백성의 이러한 처사로 화가 난 조램인들은 레이맨인들과 연합하여 암몬 백성들에 대하여 노여움을 품도록 저들을 선동하기 시작하니라. 
앨 35:11 이에 이리하여 조램인들과 레이맨인들은 암몬 백성과 또한 니파이인들을 칠 전쟁 준비를 하기 시작하니라.

 

 And thus the Zoramites and the Lamanites began to make preparations for war against the people of Ammon, and also against the Nephites. 35:11.이와같이 하여 조램인들과 레이맨인들은, 암몬 백성과 니파이 백성들을 쳐부수려고 전쟁을 준비하니, 
앨 35:12 이에 이같이 니파이 백성에 대한 판사 치세 제십칠년이 끝났느니라.

 

 And thus ended the seventeenth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi. 35:12.니파이 백성들의 판사치세 십칠년째 해가 끝나더라. 
앨 35:13 이에 암몬 백성은 여어숀 땅을 떠나, 밀렉 땅으로 넘어와서, 여어숀 땅에 니파이인들의 군대를 위해 자리를 내주었으니, 이는 그들로 하여금 레이맨인들의 군대와 조램인들의 군대와 더불어 싸울 수 있게 하려는 것이라. 이리하여 판사 치세 제십팔년에 레이맨인과 니파이인 간에 전쟁이 시작되었으니, 그들의 전쟁에 관한 기사는 이후에 주어지리라.

 

 And the people of Ammon departed out of the land of Jershon, and came over into the land of Melek, and gave place in the land of Jershon for the armies of the Nephites, that they might contend with the armies of the Lamanites and the armies of the Zoramites; and thus commenced a war betwixt the Lamanites and the Nephites, in the eighteenth year of the reign of the judges; and an account shall be given of their wars hereafter. 35:13.암몬 백성들이 여어숀 땅을 떠나 밀렉 땅으로 가서 니파이 군대들이 레이맨인의 군대와 조램의 군대를 맞아 싸우도록 여어숀 땅을 비워 주었고, 판사치세 십 팔년에 레이맨인과 니파이인의 전쟁이 시작 되었으니, 전쟁에 관한 기사를 이후에 기술하려 하노라. 
앨 35:14 또 앨마와 암몬과 그들의 형제들과 또한 앨마의 두 아들은 하나님의 손에 든 도구가 되어 많은 조램인들을 회개로 인도한 후, 제이라헤믈라 땅으로 돌아왔으며, 또 회개로 인도된 자들은 모두 저들의 땅에서 쫓겨났으나, 여어숀 땅에서 그들의 기업을 위한 땅을 가지며, 또 그들은 자기와 자기의 아내와 자녀들과 자기의 땅을 지키기 위하여 무기를 들었더라.

 

 And Alma, and Ammon, and their brethren, and also the two sons of Alma returned to the land of Zarahemla, after having been instruments in the hands of God of bringing many of the Zoramites to repentance; and as many as were brought to repentance were driven out of their land; but they have lands for their inheritance in the land of Jershon, and they have taken up arms to defend themselves, and their wives, and children, and their lands. 35:14.앨마와 암몬과 그들의 형제와 앨마의 두 아들은 하나님께서 친히 쓰시는 도구로 조램인들을 회개의 길로 많이 인도한 후 제이라헤믈라로 돌아갔느니라. 이렇게 회개한 자들은 모두 저들의 땅에서 쫓겨나게 되었으나 여어숀 땅에서 거할 곳을 얻었고, 자기들 자신과 처자와 살곳을 지키기 위해 무기를 들었느니라. 
앨 35:15 이제 앨마는 그의 백성의 죄악으로 인하여, 참으로 전쟁과 유혈과 그들 가운데 있는 다툼으로 인하여 비통하게 되었고, 또 각 성에 있는 모든 백성에게 말씀을 선포하러 갔었은즉, 곧 말씀을 선포하도록 보냄을 받았으나, 백성들의 마음이 점점 굳어지기 시작하는 것과 말씀의 엄격함으로 인하여 성을 내기 시작함을 보고, 그의 마음은 심히 슬퍼졌더라.

 

 Now Alma, being grieved for the iniquity of his people, yea for the wars, and the bloodsheds, and the contentions which were among them; and having been to declare the word, or sent to declare the word, among all the people in every city; and seeing that the hearts of the people began to wax hard, and that they began to be offended because of the strictness of the word, his heart was exceedingly sorrowful. 35:15.자기 백성들의 죄와 전쟁과 유혈의 참상 그리고 민족간의 불화로 비통해진 앨마는 온 땅의 모든 백성들에게 말씀을 전파하기로 보냄을 받고 전파하였으나, 백성들의 마음이 강퍅하게 되어 엄격한 그의 말을 반박하게 됨을 보고 그의 마음은 말할 수 없는 슬픔으로 가득차게 되었더라. 
앨 35:16 그리하여 그는 의에 관한 것에 대하여 자기 아들들에게 각각 따로 그의 지시를 주고자, 그들로 함께 모이게 하였나니, 그 자신의 기록대로 그들에게 준 명령의 기사가 우리에게 있느니라.

 

 Therefore, he caused that his sons should be gathered together, that he might give unto them every one his charge, separately, concerning the things pertaining unto righteousness. And we have an account of his commandments, which he gave unto them according to his own record. 35:16.그리하여 아들 하나 하나에게 개별적으로 진리의 교훈을 가르치고자 아들들을 모두 한 곳에 모이게 하였느니라. 여기에 앨마 자신이 만든 기록대로 그의 아들들에 내려준 계명의 기록이 있느니라.
