 And it came to pass in the commencement of the thirty and sixth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi, that Shiblon took possession of those sacred things which had been delivered unto Helaman by Alma. 63:1.니파이인의 판사치세 삼십 육년초, 힐라맨이 앨마에게 물려 받았던 거룩한 것들을 시블론이 물려 받으니라. 
앨 63:2 또 그는 의인이라, 그가 하나님 앞에 정직하게 행하였고, 또 힘써 쉬지 않고 선을 행하며, 주 그의 하나님의 계명을 지켰으니, 그의 형제 또한 그러하였더라.

 

 And he was a just man, and he did walk uprightly before God; and he did observe to do good continually, to keep the commandments of the Lord his God; and also did his brother. 63:2.시블론은 의로운 사람이라. 하나님 앞에 의롭게 살았으며, 주 하나님의 계명을 지켜 끊임없이 선을 행하였으니, 그의 형제들 또한 그러하였더라. 
앨 63:3 또 이렇게 되었나니 모로나이도 죽으매, 이같이 판사 치세 제삼십육년이 끝났느니라.

 

 And it came to pass that Moroni died also. And thus ended the thirty and sixth year of the reign of the judges. 63:3.모로나이가 또한 죽으니, 판사치세 삼십 육년이 끝났고, 
앨 63:4 그리고 이렇게 되었나니 판사 치세 제삼십칠년에, 오천사백 명에 이르는 큰 무리의 남자들이 그들의 아내와 자녀들을 이끌고 제이라헤믈라 땅을 떠나 북방 땅으로 갔느니라.

 

 And it came to pass that in the thirty and seventh year of the reign of the judges, there was a large company of men, even to the amount of five thousand and four hundred men, with their wives and their children, departed out of the land of Zarahemla into the land which was northward. 63:4.판사치세 삼십 칠년에 오천 사백 명이나 되는 큰 무리가 저들의 처자를 데리고 제이라헤믈라를 떠나 북쪽 땅으로 갔느니라. 
앨 63:5 또 이렇게 되었나니 헤이고드는 심히 호기심이 많은 사람이더니, 그가 나아가 자기를 위하여 황무 땅에 인접한 풍요 땅의 변방에서 심히 큰 배를 한 척 짓고, 북방 땅으로 통하는 좁은 지협에 인접한 서쪽 바다에 그 배를 띄우더라.

 

 And it came to pass that Hagoth, he being an exceedingly curious man, therefore he went forth and built him an exceedingly large ship, on the borders of the land Bountiful, by the land Desolation, and launched it forth into the west sea, by the narrow neck which led into the land northward. 63:5.헤이고드라 하는 자는 호기심이 강한 사람이라. 저가 데솔레이숀 옆 바운티풀 변방 가까이에서 큰 배를 지어 북쪽 땅에 이르는 좁은 지협 서쪽 바다에 배를 띄우니, 
앨 63:6 또 보라, 많은 니파이인들과 또한 많은 여자들과 어린아이들이 그리로 들어가서 많은 식량을 가지고 출항하여, 북쪽으로 그들의 진로를 잡았으니, 이같이 제삼십칠년이 끝났느니라.

 

 And behold, there were many of the Nephites who did enter therein and did sail forth with much provisions, and also many women and children; and they took their course northward. And thus ended the thirty and seventh year. 63:6.보라 많은 니파이인들이 식량을 잔뜩 가지고 그 배에 올랐고 저들의 처자를 역새 배에 태웠으며, 저들이 북쪽으로 향하였더라. 판사치세 삼십칠년이 끝난 때였더라. 
앨 63:7 또 제삼십팔년에 이 사람이 다른 배들을 지었고, 첫 번 배가 또한 돌아오매, 많은 백성이 또 그리로 들어갔고, 그들도 많은 식량을 가지고 다시 북방 땅으로 출발하였더라.

 

 And in the thirty and eighth year, this man built other ships. And the first ship did also return, and many more people did enter into it; and they also took much provisions, and set out again to the land northward. 63:7.치세 삼십 팔년에 헤이고드가 다시 배 여럿을 지었고, 첫번에 떠났던 배도 돌아오자 더 많은 사람들이 배에 올라 많은 식량을 싣고 또다시 북쪽 땅으로 떠났더라. 
앨 63:8 또 이렇게 되었나니 그들에 대하여 결코 다시는 듣지 못하였나니, 우리는 그들이 깊은 바다에 빠져 죽었을 것이라 생각하노라. 또 이렇게 되었나니 다른 배 한 척이 또 출항하여 나아갔으나, 그 배가 어디로 갔는지 우리는 알지 못하노라.

 

 And it came to pass that they were never heard of more. And we suppose that they were drowned in the depths of the sea. And it came to pass that one other ship also did sail forth; and whither she did go we know not. 63:8.저들이 떠난 후 아무도 저들의 소식을 듣지 못하였으니, 우리는 저들이 깊은 바다에 빠졌으리라 생각할 뿐이라. 그 후에 또 다른 배가 출항하였으나 그 배가 어디로 갔는지 역시 그 행방을 우리는 알지 못하노라. 
앨 63:9 또 이렇게 되었나니 이 해에 북방 땅으로 나아간 백성이 많이 있었나니, 이같이 제삼십팔년이 끝났느니라.

 

 And it came to pass that in this year there were many people who went forth into the land northward. And thus ended the thirty and eighth year. 63:9.같은 해에 역시 많은 사람들이 북쪽으로 갔고, 치세 삼십 팔년이 이같이 끝나더라. 
앨 63:10 또 이렇게 되었나니 판사 치세 제삼십구년에, 시블론도 죽고, 코리앤톤은 북방 땅으로 나아간 백성들에게 식량을 전해 주고자 배에 올라 그 땅으로 나아갔더라.

 

 And it came to pass in the thirty and ninth year of the reign of the judges, Shiblon died also, and Corianton had gone forth to the land northward in a ship, to carry forth provisions unto the people who had gone forth into that land. 63:10.판사치세 삼십 구년째 되던 해에 시블론도 죽었고, 코리앤톤은 북쪽으로 간 사람들에게 식량을 전해 주고자 배에 올라 북쪽으로 갔더라. 
앨 63:11 그러므로 시블론은 죽기 전에, 불가불 저 거룩한 것들을 그 부친의 이름을 따라 힐라맨이라 칭하는 힐라맨의 아들에게 넘겨주어야 하게 되었더라.

 

 Therefore it became expedient for Shiblon to confer those sacred things, before his death, upon the son of Helaman, who was called Helaman, being called after the name of his father.

주) 불가불 that I should be constrained (야곱2:9), necessarily (앨32:12), became expedient for (앨63:11), must (3니23:2), were forced to (조역1:74)

'불가불' 이라는 같은 번역단어의 영어 표현은 모두 다르지만 그 느낌은 '어쩔 수 없이' (be compelled to) 와 비슷하다.

 63:11.시블론은 죽기 전에 거룩한 것들을 힐라맨에게 물려 주지 않을 수 없었으니 이 힐라맨은 힐라맨의 아들로 자기 부친의 이름을 그대로 따른 자라. 
앨 63:12 이제 보라, 힐라맨이 가지고 있던 그 모든 새긴 것은, 앨마가 명하여 나아가게 말라 한 그 부분을 제외하고는, 모두 기록되어 이 온 땅에 있는 사람의 자녀들 가운데 보내어졌느니라.

 

 Now behold, all those engravings which were in the possession of Helaman were written and sent forth among the children of men throughout all the land, save it were those parts which had been commanded by Alma should not go forth. 63:12.이제 보라 힐라맨이 갖고 있던 판에 새겨진 모든 기록들을 앨마가 금한 부분만을 남기고는 온 땅의 백성들에게 적어 보냈느니라. 
앨 63:13 그러할지라도 이것들은 거룩하게 보존되어, 한 세대에서 다음 세대로 전달되어 내려가게 되어 있었나니, 그러므로 이 해에 이것들이 시블론이 죽기 전에 힐라맨에게 넘겨진 바 되었더라.

 

 Nevertheless, these things were to be kept sacred, and handed down from one generation to another; therefore, in this year, they had been conferred upon Helaman, before the death of Shiblon. 63:13.그러나 이러한 것들은 세대에서 세대로 성스럽게 보존되어야 하나니, 이해에 시블론이 죽기 전 힐라맨에게 전달되었더라. 
앨 63:14 또 이렇게 되었나니 이 해에 레이맨인들에게로 나아간 이반자들이 어느 정도 있더니, 그들이 다시 충동함을 받아 니파이인들에 대하여 노하게 되었더라.

 

 And it came to pass also in this year that there were some dissenters who had gone forth unto the Lamanites; and they were stirred up again to anger against the Nephites. 63:14.이 해에 또한 분쟁자들이 생겨 레이맨인들에게로 넘어간 뒤에 니파이인들을 대적하고자 레이맨인들의 분을 돋구었으며, 
앨 63:15 또한 이 같은 해에 그들이 모로나이하의 백성을 대적하여, 아니면 모로나이하의 군대를 대적하여 싸우고자 수많은 군대를 거느리고 내려왔으나, 패하여 큰 손실을 입고 그들의 본토로 다시 쫓겨 갔느니라.

 

 And also in this same year they came down with a numerous army to war against the people of Moronihah, or against the army of Moronihah, in the which they were beaten and driven back again to their own lands, suffering great loss. 63:15.같은 해에 모로나이하의 백성 곧 모로나이하의 군대를 대적하고자 레이맨인들이 수많은 군대를 몰아왔으나, 대패하여 큰 손실을 입고 저들의 땅으로 쫓겨 갔느니라. 
앨 63:16 이같이 니파이 백성에 대한 판사 치세 제삼십구년이 끝나더라.

 

 And thus ended the thirty and ninth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi. 63:16.이렇게 하여 니파이 백성의 판사치세 삼십 구년이 끝나니, 
앨 63:17 그리고 이같이 앨마와 그의 아들 힐라맨과 또한 그의 아들이었던 시블론의 기사가 끝났느니라.

 

 And thus ended the account of Alma, and Helaman his son, and also Shiblon, who was his son. 63:17.앨마와 그의 아들인 힐라맨과 시블론의 기사가 끝나니라.
