| 소개 | 사람이 치부하여 그 집 영광이 더할 때에 너는 두려워 말찌어다 | Men cannot be ransomed or redeemed by wealth—God alone can redeem a soul from the grave—The glory of a rich man ceases with his death.

| 시 49:1 | 뭇 백성들아 이를 들으라 세상의 거민들아 모두 귀를 기울이라 | Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world: |
| 시 49:2 | 귀천 빈부를 막론하고 다 들을지어다 | Both low and high, rich and poor, together. |
| 시 49:3 | 내 입은 지혜를 말하겠고 내 마음은 명철을 작은 소리로 읊조리리로다 | My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding. |
| 시 49:4 | 내가 비유에 내 귀를 기울이고 수금으로 나의 오묘한 말을 풀리로다 | I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp. |
| 시 49:5 | 죄악이 나를 따라다니며 나를 에워싸는 환난의 날을 내가 어찌 두려워하랴 | Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about? |
| 시 49:6 | 자기의 재물을 의지하고 부유함을 자랑하는 자는 | They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; |
| 시 49:7 | 아무도 자기의 형제를 구원하지 못하며 그를 위한 속전을 하나님께 바치지도 못할 것은 | None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: |
| 시 49:8 | 그들의 생명을 속량하는 값이 너무 엄청나서 영원히 마련하지 못할 것임이니라 | (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:) |
| 시 49:9 | 그가 영원히 살아서 죽음을 보지 않을 것인가 | That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption. |
| 시 49:10 | 그러나 그는 지혜 있는 자도 죽고 어리석고 무지한 자도 함께 망하며 그들의 재물은 남에게 남겨 두고 떠나는 것을 보게 되리로다 | For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others. |
| 시 49:11 | 그러나 그들의 속 생각에 그들의 집은 영원히 있고 그들의 거처는 대대에 이르리라 하여 그들의 토지를 자기 이름으로 부르도다 | Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. |
| 시 49:12 | 사람은 존귀하나 장구하지 못함이여 멸망하는 짐승 같도다 | Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish. |
| 시 49:13 | 이것이 바로 어리석은 자들의 길이며 그들의 말을 기뻐하는 자들의 종말이로다 (셀라) | This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah. |
| 시 49:14 | 그들은 양 같이 스올에 두기로 작정되었으니 사망이 그들의 목자일 것이라 정직한 자들이 아침에 그들을 다스리리니 그들의 아름다움은 소멸하고 스올이 그들의 거처가 되리라 | Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. |
| 시 49:15 | 그러나 하나님은 나를 영접하시리니 이러므로 내 영혼을 스올의 권세에서 건져내시리로다 (셀라) | But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. |
| 시 49:16 | 사람이 치부하여 그의 집의 영광이 더할 때에 너는 두려워하지 말지어다 | Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased; |
| 시 49:17 | 그가 죽으매 가져가는 것이 없고 그의 영광이 그를 따라 내려가지 못함이로다 | For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him. |
| 시 49:18 | 그가 비록 생시에 자기를 축하하며 스스로 좋게 함으로 사람들에게 칭찬을 받을지라도 | Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself. |
| 시 49:19 | 그들은 그들의 역대 조상들에게로 돌아가리니 영원히 빛을 보지 못하리로다 | He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light. |
| 시 49:20 | 존귀하나 깨닫지 못하는 사람은 멸망하는 짐승 같도다 | Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish. |
